That's the first thought that came to Reynold's mind as he saw the scene unfold before his eyes. 

He was a prince. One of the strongest figure in the country, someone with great authority and power. 

And someone like that was afraid. He, someone who had seen his fair share of battle in his lifetime, was afraid of mere kids and slaves bound by contracts. 

He was scared of Ian, the supposedly weak noble who was roaming inside that monster's den so freely as if he owned the place. 

And the thing he was most afraid of was their 'potential'. He couldn't even begin to imagine what would happen, what hell would break through if Ian utilised these people in the future.
