Andrew got to the police station

The sharp chill in the air bit at his skin, but he wasn’t afraid.

His steps were steady, purposeful. There was no fear in his eyes—only calm. He knew he hadn’t done anything wrong. At least, not in the eyes of the law.

A uniformed officer led him inside, metal doors clanking shut behind them.

Andrew glanced around. The station was a mixture of peeling paint, buzzing fluorescent lights, and the faint, lingering scent of stale coffee.

He could hear phones ringing in the distance, muffled conversations, and the occasional bark of a commanding officer.

“Sit,” the officer said, motioning to a cold metal chair across the table in the small interrogation room.

Andrew obliged.

Minutes stretched into what felt like hours.

Then the door creaked open, the same police officer walked in, holding a file.

“Well,” the officer began, flipping through the papers, “you look pretty calm for someone accused of something this serious.”

Andrew’s gaze didn’t waver. “That’s b

His voice, even calmer. “I recognize them,” he said plainly. The officer nodded like he expected that answer. "Mr. Baron, these men came to report last night that their sister was missing. A man beat them up and abducted their sister, and that man happens to be you. True or false?"Andrew lifted his head ,his eyes locking on the two men across from him. His jaw tightened. Sister? But Andrew knew —he wasn’t stupid. The way the officers' cold gaze pierced through him, full of quiet judgment and condemnation . It was clear. He had taken sides Andrew’s head

“Last night,” he began, “our sister and we were heading somewhere when this man approached her. He started talking to her—in an abnormal way . My sister was polite, told him she wasn’t interested, but he wouldn’t listen. He kept insisting she follow him home. She told him she wasn’t a hooker, but—” he paused, shooting Andrew a venomous glare—“he wouldn’t take no for an answer.” Andrew clenched his jaw. This is insane.“Then,” the man continued, “he got aggressive. We had to step in, trying to pull her away, but—” He lifted his arm, gesturing to bruises already turning yellow and purple and bandage forehead. “He beat us up and took our sister with him like she was some…some toy !” His voice cracked, a line of tear rolling down as he quickly looked away, feigning hurt Andrew's fist clenched tightly . They had indeed come prepared . What the hell is this performance? What was all this for ?Such nerve ! Andrew was sure they were doing all this to get the girl back . But little did

Show me then.” he said indifferently ,leaning back in his chair, face calm, eyes steady. “This is the evidence of what happened last night,” The officer said and dug out a USB from his breast pocket. "This is the evidence of what happened last night," he said, plugging it into the laptop. The screen flickered, then lit up.The video was dark. No sound. Just shadows moving against a barely visible background. Two large men confronted a man of average build. Then chaos.Fists swung. Feet kicked. Palms slapped. But it wasn’t the burly men delivering the beatings. No—it was the other man, half their size. His blows landed fast, sharp. The larger men stumbled, crumpled to the floor. He didn’t break a sweat. When the fight ended, the smaller man stood unscathed. Calm. He reached for a young blonde girl’s and they got into the car Seconds later, they sped off in his car.“That’s it!” One of the men barked, his face stretched with a victorious grin. “There is no way he’ll be able to den

Benita jubilantly rushed to the station the next day. Her heart was racing. She had the proof, the evidence that would clear Andrew’s name. She couldn’t wait to see the officer’s face when he saw what she’d uncovered. The lies they’d told, all of it. Every single bit of it.The names, the ages, the relationships—none of it was true. She had pieced it all together. She’d gone through every detail, every shred of information, and found the cracks. The young girl, Susan, wasn’t an orphan. Her parents were alive. She had run away from home and had been living a life of deceit ever since. A con artist. The two men weren’t even brothers. They had no connection whatsoever. They were just two criminals working together—both with histories of crime and jail time. The real twist that sent chills down her spine—was the money. Twenty thousand dollars. Wired was to each of them from an anonymous account just three days ago.Three days! None of them had known each other before then. This wasn't a

The officer took the envelope and started flipping through the papers. Benita held her breath . She knew he wouldn’t let Andrew go immediately, but surely he would at least open an investigation. But to her shock, the officer simply looked at the papers, then back at her. “This isn’t enough,” he said, his voice flat, without any trace of concern. “This doesn’t prove anything.” Benita’s heart skipped a beat. She couldn’t believe it. The officer wasn’t even trying to do his job. He wasn’t even considering what she’d handed him. The evidence, all of it, was right there in front of him.She felt a flash of anger. “You’re not even going to look into it?” she demanded, voice trembling with frustration. “This is evidence, real proof, and you just—just dismiss it like it means nothing?”Andrew remained still. Of course , he had expected it . But what he couldn't fathom right was ,the person behind the frame up .Andrew’s mind raced. There was only one person who could have done this. But he

As soon as officer Paul got to his office , he dug out his phone and dialed a number .The phone rang twice before the line connected.“Any update?” A deep voice came from the other end. It was calm authoritatively Officer Paul straightened in his chair, gripping the phone tightly. “Andrew isn’t working alone. Someone is helping him,” he said. His voice was low, cautious. “She brought evidence. It’s solid. If this gets out—”A short chuckle cut him off. “No evidence will set him free.” The certainty in the man’s tone made Paul uneasy.“But this—”“I already spoke with Inspector Amos. Later today, Andrew will be handed over to him. From there, he’ll take care of things.”Paul frowned. The name alone made his stomach twist. Inspector Amos had a reputation. A bad one.The voice continued, carefree . “Hold him captive. He’s a nobody. Even if someone finds out, no one will care. He has no background. No one will fight for him.”Paul hesitated, glancing toward the door. His gut told him th

Hades is undefeated!”“Only one undefeatable Hades!”There was nothing exciting about what Andrew just saw, and the scene irked him in a way that crawled beneath his skin, like insects gnawing at his insides with sharp teeth made of guilt and fury, because what he had witnessed was not a fight, not even sport—it was a public execution and still they all cheered. He tried to blink the image away—the torn flesh, the severed head lying like garbage in the blood-soaked ring—but it clung to the inside of his eyelids like a second skin, and no matter how hard he tried to breathe thro

The next day, Andrew set out for the Shadow Furnace. He didn’t know what to expect. But he wasn’t turning back. He drove in silence as he headed to the address his investigator had given him . After a few hours , he arrived at a lonely path surrounded by silence. No signposts. No lights. Just a one-storey building deserted in the middle of nowhere . Andrew's breath fogged slightly as he parked. The wind outside was cold, but he didn’t shiver. His body was too tense, too wired to feel the air. But something about it felt alive. Breathing. Watching. He walked toward the door. Two guards stood on either side, faces like stone. One held out his hand. Andrew didn’t speak. He simply passed the ID he’d been given—no name, just a symbol. The man looked at it once, then handed him a black mask. “Keep it on at all times,” he said. Andrew nodded. A third man appeared, tall and lean, dressed in all black. He said nothing as he turned and began walking. Andrew followed. They wal

The scanner recognized his print without hesitation. The soft green light blinked, then the heavy glass doors slid open. No alarms. No questions. The guards at the front simply nodded and stepped aside, like he had always belonged. The hallway leading to the vault was quiet. Cold. He could hear his own footsteps echo off the marble floors. He glanced up at the tall portraits lining the walls. Proud men. Blank-eyed. All with the same jawline. The same tight mouths. The vault was where Roman kept the things that mattered. Not jewelry. Not money. But papers. Documents. Truths.Andrew stood before the second scanner. This one was different.Only one man had access here.He pulled out the small case from his coat pocket. Inside, the rubber mold of Mr. Ashton’s fingerprint

Andrew’s gaze settled on Morin, flat and emotionless, as though he were already tired of the conversation, as though he hadn't just been threatened.“I don’t have any business with you, Morin. Cold and detached.Morin tilted his head and smiled as if Andrew had just told a joke. “You sure do have lots of guts. But I don’t know of what help that would be to you today.” He pulled a folded sheet of paper from the inner pocket of his jacket, flattened it on the glass table between them, and slid it forward. “Here. This is an undertaking.”Andrew didn’t look down. His eyes stayed on Morin’s face, his expression unreadable.“I’m going to propose this to you as a gentleman,” Morin continued, his voice dripping with mockery . “Sign this and walk away with the five million dollar check. Morin looked away, then back at Anastacia , calm as ever. “I invited some friends to take care of him.” Anastacia’s stomach dropped. “Friends?” “Can you go straight to the point?” She snapped, her voice rising in frustration. Morin's confidence oozed from every fiber of his being as he leaned in close, his voice smooth and laced with a touch of amusement. "Don't worry about that, babe. After I'm done with him, I’ll make sure he signs an agreement to cancel the wedding and leave Jashem City. That way, he won’t be an obstruction to our wedding again." His eyes gleamed with a mischief , his mind already plotting the next steps. Anastasia’s brows creased as she tilted her head slightly. There was something off about the way Morin spoke—too certain, too smooth. “How do you plan on doing that? You were the one who just said how stubborn he is.” Morin exhaled, a heavy sigh escaping his lips, as if she were asking the simplest question in the world. He wrapped his arms around her waist, p

Andrew had done everything they asked . Now it was their turn to keep their word. But Anastacia still hadn’t changed her mind. She didn’t want the wedding. Not to Andrew. Not under these terms. Yet everyone was moving ahead as if her feelings didn’t matter. Andrew stood outside the courthouse, glancing around with restless eyes. His heart beat a little faster each time someone entered the building, but it was never her. He checked the time again. Still nothing. He called her. Straight to voicemail. Again. His jaw clenched. Something was off. She wouldn’t just vanish. Not on today of all days. He dialed again, pacing. "Pick up. Come on, just pick up." Then his phone rang. It was an Unknown number.
