As soon as officer Paul got to his office , he dug out his phone and dialed a number .

The phone rang twice before the line connected.

“Any update?” A deep voice came from the other end. It was calm authoritatively

Officer Paul straightened in his chair, gripping the phone tightly. “Andrew isn’t working alone. Someone is helping him,” he said. His voice was low, cautious. “She brought evidence. It’s solid. If this gets out—”

A short chuckle cut him off. “No evidence will set him free.” The certainty in the man’s tone made Paul uneasy.

“But this—”

“I already spoke with Inspector Amos. Later today, Andrew will be handed over to him. From there, he’ll take care of things.”

Paul frowned. The name alone made his stomach twist. Inspector Amos had a reputation. A bad one.

The voice continued, carefree . “Hold him captive. He’s a nobody. Even if someone finds out, no one will care. He has no background. No one will fight for him.”

Paul hesitated, glancing toward the door. His gut told him th

How’s the interrogation?”Amos leaned back in his chair, eyes narrowing. “Difficult. The man acts like he’s made of steel. No fear, no reaction.”Morin hummed. “Is that so?”Amos let out a dry chuckle. “So far, he’s keeping his mouth shut, but trust me—I’ll make him talk. The door to the interrogation room slammed open, and Inspector Amos walked in, followed by ten imposing men. The air felt thick with tension as their heavy boots echoed off the concrete floor. Everyone turned to see who had spoken. Amos’s heart skipped a beat when he saw the chief commissioner standing at the entrance. His eyes widened in disbelief. It felt like a ghost had just walked into the room. The chief commissioner. Back.Amos couldn’t comprehend it. His mind raced, the warning from earlier echoing in his ears. No way. This is impossible. He remembered the last time the commissioner had taken his half-year break. It was around this time last year, and everyone knew how strict the ritual was. Not a single person had expected him to break it. No one even thought it was possible. But he had. He had stayed away for half the year, keeping himself secluded. The last major case that happened while he was gone had shaken the department. The commissioner didn’t return for that either. He hadn’t even bothered to check in, leaving everyone to pick up the pieces. So why now?Amos couldn’t grasp it. Had the commissioner really come back for this man ? He could feel his stomac

It was like one of those nights when the Ashton family always had enough to celebrate. It could be about their evil schemes finally coming to a sensible plot, or it could be that as usual, they were always one step ahead. They were all seated in the large and undoubtedly spacious living room, bearing smiles on their faces and gladness in their hearts. Finally, one of the family's dreams was going to come to pass. “Oh, finally.” Anastasia groaned loudly. Not the kind of groan that held any form of regret, sadness or pain. But the one filled with relief. Every member of the family seated, and who equally understood what she meant either burst into a loud laughter or chuckle. “I'm so happy for you Ana. You finally get to be free.” Her aunt Monica said, a smile of satisfaction crested on her face while she helped herself with a glass of champagne from the table. “I can't believe he really thought I was going to get married to him. Tch!” Anastasia hissed out loud, her tone and face lac

Finally, the time for the party had arrived, and the hall was bursting with activities. From people chatting away, and the low, comforting sound of music that filled the decorated hall. The servers could be seen walking around with trays of drinks and champagne in their hands. When it was time to get the party going before the main event took place, Mr. Roman walked towards the front row and drew everyone's attention with the clicking of his glass. “I must firstly thank you all for choosing to make time and come celebrate with my family. Thank you for that.” He began his statement, wearing a huge smile on his face. Everyone smiled back and patiently waited to hear more of what he had to say. “I'm sure that we're all still aware of the reason for our celebration today.” He paused for a while, the smile on his face immediately washing away while a downcasted look, one laced with pain and disappointment. “However, I'm sad to say that my heart and that of my family has been shattered

After a few hours , he arrived at a lonely path surrounded by silence. No signposts. No lights. Just a one-storey building deserted in the middle of nowhere . Andrew's breath fogged slightly as he parked. The wind outside was cold, but he didn’t shiver. His body was too tense, too wired to feel the air. But something about it felt alive. Breathing. Watching. He walked toward the door. Two guards stood on either side, faces like stone. One held out his hand. Andrew didn’t speak. He simply passed the ID he’d been given—no name, just a symbol. The man looked at it once, then handed him a black mask. “Keep it on at all times,” he said. Andrew nodded. A third man appeared, tall and lean, dressed in all black. He said nothing as he turned and began walking. Andrew followed. They wal

The guards at the front simply nodded and stepped aside, like he had always belonged. The hallway leading to the vault was quiet. Cold. Cold and detached.Morin tilted his head and smiled as if Andrew had just told a joke. “You sure do have lots of guts. Morin's confidence oozed from every fiber of his being as he leaned in close, his voice smooth and laced with a touch of amusement. "Don't worry about that, babe. After I'm done with him, I’ll make sure he signs an agreement to cancel the wedding and leave Jashem City. That way, he won’t be an obstruction to our wedding again." His eyes gleamed with a mischief , his mind already plotting the next steps. Anastasia’s brows creased as she tilted her head slightly.
