chapter eighty six: almost there (part 5)

The whole room was filled with an ethereal glow as fire and ice collided together, Matthew kept his concentration with his dragon strong, so that it would not dissipate, while Jedidiah kept his concentration on his ice beam so that it would not falter.

Soon Jedidiah's ice beam began to fail, and Matthew's dragon prevailed against him. As Jedidiah's ice beam was about to completely dissipated, Jedidiah conjured his own dragon and then the two dragons battled against each other, with their masters riding on their backs.

As the two dragons fought, Jedidiah's dragon prevailed against Matthew's dragon, and soon Matthew's dragon was destroyed. Matthew stood up from the ground, and looking up, he saw Jedidiah's dragon about to breath fire on him.

“Any last words?” Jedidiah asked.

Matthew could feel his muscles trembling, and he knew that he was heavily outmatched. He looked sternly at Jedidiah as blood and sweat flowed down his face. Then he said to himself, “maybe I can do it now.”
