Chapter 31: Failed Persuasion Plan.

Seeing Amanda in this state, Memphis couldn't help but feel a stir within him. He swallowed a gulp, trying to angle his body to hide the awkwardness below, and asked in a deep voice:

"Is there an emergency?"

He had heard her knock frantically and assumed there was a zombie attack, but her relaxed demeanor made him feel puzzled and suspicious.

Amanda ran her fingers through her wet hair, which clung to her pale skin, looking both messy and mischievous. The water droplets trickled down, dampening her clothes. She glanced nonchalantly at Memphis and casually said:

"Nothing urgent. I just wanted to discuss something. I hope you can protect me as I level up."

Memphis suppressed his inner turmoil, his voice hoarse with confusion:

"Didn't I say we'd head out to clear the zombies after lunch?"

Amanda propped herself against the doorframe and lifted her wrist, showing her watch:

"It's already noon. We've prepared lunch and came to get you."
