Chapter 6: To Be Unexpectedly Attacked!

"Don't get the wrong idea; I just wanted to repay you for saving me earlier!"

While fleeing, Tazanna explained to Ethan as they ran side by side. However, Ethan's gaze remained fixed on her back, his eyes filled with complex emotions.

Until this moment, he finally remembered that this girl was the same one he had met in front of the hospital. At that time, he was scolded by her. Unexpectedly, they would meet again now.

"Huh, what are you staring at? Do you believe that I can gouge out your eyes and rub them under my feet?"

Feeling Ethan's gaze on her, Tazanna couldn't help but speak sarcastically.

"Ha ha ha!"

But as soon as Ethan heard her familiar tone, he couldn't help but burst into laughter. Tazanna seemed to remember their previous encounter at the hospital and angrily kicked Ethan.

"Oh...!"

Whether intentionally or accidentally, her kick precisely hit Ethan's lower body, instantly stopping his laughter. He widened his eyes, turned pale, stared at Tazanna, and continuously clutched his lower body while yelling in agony.

"You crazy, you are crazy! Don't you know that this is a weak spot for men? Can you compensate if you kick so hard and I can't have children?"

In response to Ethan's scream, Tazanna coldly replied: "Whatever, I don't care!"

However, after saying this, she couldn't help but glance down at his groin. She blushed and quickly turned her face away. Her expression, however, went unnoticed by Ethan, who was still resentful, secretly cursing her.

Before long, the sound of footsteps approached from behind. A gang of thugs wielding pipes charged toward the two with fierce expressions.

One of the thugs spotted Ethan and Tazanna up ahead and couldn't help but shout to his companions: "Up ahead, those two are up there! Hurry up, catch up!"

Seeing the armed gang approaching, Ethan and Tazanna exchanged no words but shouted in unison, then turned and ran.

"Run!"

Watching them flee, the blond-haired youth was furious and kicked his underling, who had just shouted.

"Idiot, what are you yelling for? Are you afraid they won't escape?"

The underlying kicked by blonde youth didn't dare to talk back and could only obediently bow his head and repeatedly apologize.

Meanwhile, the gang of thugs chased after them, shouting.

"Stop, stop right there!"

"Damn it, don't let us catch you, or we'll beat you to death!"

As they watched the two figures in front of them get further and further away, the blonde youth was so exhausted that he was gasping for breath. His physical fitness didn't allow him to keep up, despite being, so he could only angrily vent his frustration on his underlings.

"You idiots, all of you are idiots! Damn it, the prey was served right before us, and we let them escape!"

Before the fury of the blonde-haired young man, the gangsters could only grit their teeth and curse Ethan and Tazanna under their breaths, with no one daring to argue with the blonde youth.

...

"Ha ha ha!"

In a hidden corner of a small alley, Ethan and Tazanna, having escaped the gangsters, leaned against the wall, looked at each other, and burst into laughter.

"You bad, I never thought you'd know how to fight and run so fast too!" Tazanna panted, smiling at Ethan with a smirk.

Ethan smirked back, not minding her way of addressing him, responding: "You're no different! Your moves are ruthless, taking down that thug with a single strike, and your speed is almost on par with mine!"

As they spoke, they glanced at each other with a mutual dislike, their eyes wide open as if just waiting for a reason to roll up their sleeves and fight each other.

Not knowing how long they'd been glaring at each other, Tazanna suddenly sniffed a few times and then glanced at Ethan.

"Let's call it even. If we meet again in the future, you should keep your distance from me. Also, if you dare to look at me with those eyes again, you'd better watch out! Hmph!" Tazanna said, making a threatening gesture with her fingers as if to gouge out Ethan's eyes.

Feeling extremely pleased with herself, she whistled and quickly walked towards the main road, planning to hail a taxi to go home.

However, at that moment, a dark shadow suddenly darted from the hidden corner of the small alley opposite, colliding heavily with Tazanna's figure.

"Ah!" Tazanna let out a miserable cry, stunned by Ethan's gaze.

Simultaneously, that guy shadow quickly disappeared into the darkness. When Ethan regained his composure, Tazanna's figure had already collapsed onto the road, a pool of fresh red blood under her abdomen, creating a surreal, eerie scene under the yellow neon lights.

"You must stay strong, don't close your eyes, and I'll take you to the hospital as quickly as possible!" Ethan urgently carried Tazanna's limp and bloody body, running towards the road ahead.

"Am... am I... going to... die soon?" Tazanna's breath had become extremely weak. She tried to grasp Ethan's arm tightly, her lips constantly trembling as she uttered unclear words from her throat.

"Don't be pessimistic; good people don't live long, and bad people live for thousands of years. So, you can rest assured, with your terrible personality, you definitely won't die young!" Ethan knew he was teasing her to keep her awake, but Tazanna couldn't help but feel angry, glaring at him.

However, her face turned pale, and her glare scared Ethan.

"Hey, hey, can you not scare me like that? I will be scared by you and leave you in the middle of the road!"

"You dare?"

Embracing Tazanna while arguing and running, Ethan didn't know how long they had been running or how many streets they had crossed. In front of them now was the city hospital entrance.

"Excuse me, security guard, my friend urgently needs medical help. Can you contact a doctor to provide emergency care for her?"

Ethan's breath had become labored, his eyes fixed on Tazanna's pale, bloodless face. Moreover, she fainted due to excessive blood loss, making Ethan increasingly anxious.

Pacing back and forth in the hospital corridor, Ethan couldn't stop glancing at the still-lit operating room. Over two hours had passed since the surgery began, but Tazanna's situation still seemed uncertain.

"Doctor, how is my friend? Is she out of danger?"

Seeing a nurse exit the operating room, Ethan's eyes brightened, and he hurriedly asked her about Tazanna's condition. However, the nurse shook her head.

"I'm sorry, your girlfriend's situation is still critical. Her spleen has been severely damaged, and she lost too much blood over an extended period. The surgery will take longer than initially expected. We will inform you of the results as soon as we have them!"
