In a match to the death as all soul beast contest battles were, the ability of a beast to make optimal decisions in the blink of an eye had been the grace that had seen them to live and win.
When faced with opponents, these beasts are able to adapt to the conditions that they fight with, even to the extent of changing their style and manner of approach just to be on level ground with the opponent before them.
It is of popular opinion that the soul beasts are not sentient beasts. But however because of the bond that these creatures share with their hosts, a level of intelligence is attained in them. Sometimes, this intelligence may span as a result of experience gained when going out on various missions with the hosts or just as a result of time and growth.
