“Hey, what is this important matter is there something of importance that needs to be done at the office tomorrow, remember I don’t like stressing myself up” she said as she tried to cajole the man with her seductive charm but it seemed he was not interested in that for now because what they had to do at the office was an important stuff so he didn’t dilly dally.
“I need you to represent us at the new merger office be on your best behavior and stop being a baby” he said through the phone and immediately she had mixed feelings.
“Really, I would be extremely excited to represent the company and I promise to do our company justice” she responded.
One was being happy for being selected to represent the company and the other was simply hurt he didn’t fall for her antics as she had planned.
Ryan stood there and he heard this and then went unto ask her the question which had been bugging him so much.
“Okay sir, I’ll make sure to do the best I can” she promised yet again and then she dropped the call smiling big.
“Can I ask you a question Emilie?” Ryan said as he walked up behind her and she who was the oblivious woman she was had even forgotten she had been telling him ti share his lottery fortune with her.
“I am not interested in all your stupid questions…” she went on saying but he cut her off.
“I’ll ask away, why did you lie to your boss you didn’t know me and why didn’t you tell him I was your husband and we were doing just fine? Why did you not forgo the urge to cheat on me when you had the opportunity?” He asked her and she stood there quiet at first as though she was contemplating something before she burst into a fit of laughter.
“What did you just ask me?” she asked in between a fit of laughter.
“You heard what I said Emilie so answer me please” he questioned again.
“I couldn’t tell him anything of that sort because if I told him I wouldn’t have all the luxuries of life, I would have not been able to have the bonuses and I would not also have this promotion which is about to happen to my life right now, I can’t be a waitress like you so please don’t intoxicate me with your poverty stricken self” she explained.
Ryan felt bad a bit, of course he had to fill bad because this woman who stood right before him was a woman whom he loved and was willing to do whatever kit was to make her happy, there even where times he took his salary and he wouldn’t get anything special for himself but he would rush to one of the expensive stores his money could afford and get her something with his salary.
Yet she had the effrontery to stand before him and tell him she couldn’t be a waitress like him.
“Is that what you think of me Emilie?” Ryan asked slowly.
“I don’t only think of you that way, you are a bad luck to me, can’t you see that the moment I left you my life has blossomed and now I am going to be promoted to the level where I shall be extremely rich” she retorted.
“Okay then, see you around” Ryan mustered the final courage he could have and left for where his Uncle was seated outside.
Emilie ran out into another room jumping as she couldn’t believe she would have to be the one representing their company to this other bigger cooperation and from what the news said they were now under a different CEO and also they were just not ready to show his face yet as the tabloids and the news said.
“What kind of man is this, does he think he has the world’s beautiful face, anyway I would make sure I do a great presentation and go as far as seducing him, by the way I would have gotten the promotion and this man would have nothing to do about it because I would be connected to an extremely rich man” she said to herself as she tried on clothes in front of the mirror changing from one to another.
“Nah! This looks too cheap”.
“Nope this looks so skimpy, I need to be classy and chic” she said as she took another dress and finally came to the conclusion of a plaited skirt and a flowery blouse and then some pumps.
“Bingo” she said as she just kept dreaming hard about the presentation and that was going to be the best day of her life if she becomes the head of the Accounting department and if she is given the promotion just as she wanted all along.
Looking out the window she saw Ryan and the Uncle as he was carrying him and she kind of cringed.
“Sheesh, too poor people touching they deserve each other, that’s all I can say because there is nothing I can do or say right now that would make me more happier than I already am for my promotion, and soon after everyone at the office would have to bow down to me, especially that Lisa who has been on my neck as though we are fighting the boss together but at the end I won” she consoled herself and then looked at the mess around her, resolving that Ryan was going to do the cleaning when he was back from where he was being taken and the person who had given him the clothes and the expensive shit was going to take them back and he would come down from his high horse and come back to worshipping the ground she walked on.
“Come on Uncle let’s get you medical attention” Ryan said as he opened the door to the BMW and his Uncle hesitated to enter because he knew he had sores on his body and the car looked extremely expensive for him to stain with his smelly body.
“I can’t enter son, please I’ll walk and follow you to the hospital” The old man suggested but this broke Ryan’s heart into pieces as he felt how small the man was feeling of himself.
“No Uncle, you can enter and never underestimate yourself ever again, we would get you medical help and we shall make you better and I would give you the better life you deserve” Ryan explained as he focused on making him enter the car and just like that Ryan rode the car and took his Uncle to the hospital and ordered the medical personnel to take care of his uncle and make sure his wounds where properly cleaned and dressed.
Before they were done with his wound dressing Ryan had called Ernestine and she had done a little shopping for the old man and she had brought the clothes to the hospital for his Uncle to change.
