Ernestine had been searching for her lost love, Alan, for weeks. She had eagerly anticipated the evening she first met him. Emilie had been seated on a chair, her wrists and ankles bound by rope. She had no idea what was in store for her, or why she had been taken in the first place. All she knew was that Teddy—the one person who had promised to look out for her—had not initiated a search party for her. Despite her best efforts to keep her cool, the thought of being at the mercy of her captors was too much for Emilie to bear.She felt like she was losing control of her life and the realization scared her. Emilie closed her eyes and tried her best to shut out the sound of her captors' voices. Every time they spoke, she heard their malice and disdain.
