Whoosh!
None of the students had anticipated Nolan's unexpected actions. The realization dawned upon them only when Hansel's loud scream pierced the air.
"Argh!" Hansel exclaimed in pain from the forceful punch.
Darcy, recovering from her initial shock, immediately bellowed, "What on earth do you think you're doing?" A frown etched onto her face as she swiftly pushed Nolan away from Hansel.
Nolan was disappointed. The way Darcy had rushed to Hansel rescue had completely left him disappointed.
Similar to Darcy, every other student had already shaken off their shock.
"Hey, first, you interrupted Hansel's proposal, and now you've punched him! Are you trying to get yourself in trouble!?" someone from the crowd shouted.
Another chimed. "Do you think you would be spared for what you just did? You're a really big idiot for punching Hansel!"
More and more insults from the angry crowd were all thrown at Nolan.
"Wait everyone!" Someone from the crowd shouted. "Don't you know who he's?" A surprise tone rang from the person's voice.
Confusion broke out in the hall. Everyone turned to each other as they exchanged a curious expression.
They all snorted. "Who's he? Mere looking at his appearance we can tell that he's not from a wealthy home so why would we care."
"He's Nolan Dawson, the poor being in our college!" A loud voice from the person broke through the hall.
Everyone became dead silent.
They all had shocked and mixed expressions on their faces. It was obvious from their expression that they knew the name.
Whisper's broke through the hall as everybody stared at Nolan. As the whisper's continued, the anger and disdain filled in their eyes increased.
"You… ! So you're the poor pupper Nolan Dawson?"
"He's not just a poor pupper but he's also the rumored guy that's always staring at Darcy and also giving her letters. He likes her!" One of them exclaimed.
Laughter busted through the crowd as they heard the last words.
"How can such a poor wrecked thing like him dream of being with a beauty like Darcy? Impossible! " Mockery and disdainful glance gaze at Nolan from the crowd.
Nolan sneered, ignoring the crowd's harsh words.
He turned to Darcy with a cold gaze. "What's the meaning of all this?" He was referring to the proposal stuff.
"It's… '' Darcy was rendered speechless. She didn't know how to defend herself, as her face was already flushed with guilt and embarrassment.
Hansel, seeing this thought that Nolan was threatening her with his words, quickly butted in. "What's the meaning of what? Are you blind? You have scared Darcy off that she's not even able to say a complete sentence. " He rebuked.
Nolan scoffed, with a meaningful gaze. "Is that so..? "
"What do you mean?"
"Nolan calm down and stop making a fuse out of nothing." Darcy buried her embarrassed look, and quickly spoke.
Nolan laughed bitterly. "Wow, I'm making a fuse out of nothing? Does this whole proposal stuff seem like nothing to you!?" He yelled.
"Yes it's. So just stop this whole nonsense you're performing!"
She had actually planned on acting all cool, but seeing the look on Nolan's face, she knew he wouldn't be fooled easily.
"You cheated on me Darcy and here you're saying I'm performing nuisance!" The bitterness and pain Nolan's voice wasn't misheard.
Cheat!?
Everyone gaped at each other. They had no idea what was happening!
The expression of surprise and doubt filled their faces. In what way would Darcy want to cheat on a wrecked person like Nolan?
However,
What everyone didn't know was that Nolan was already in a relationship with darcy. Those stares and secret letters he did give her was because Darcy had asked for their relationship to be a secret. He had felt disappointed then but he didn't dwell much on it due to his love for her.
Aside from them being in a relationship, Nolan knew how much he had spent on her. He would always work effortlessly just to provide for her unnecessary needs. Who would have expected all his efforts to be replaced with the word NONSENSE!?
Darcy coughed, as she quickly spoke, "don't mind what this peasant is saying. What connection can the both of us have that will enhance cheating on him!? This is what happened…"
She explained her fabricated story that had just come into her mind. In her words, she said Nolan had made her accept to be his girlfriend helplessly and she had never really taken him seriously.
Nolan trembled uncontrollably as an indescribable bitterness and anguish flooded his heart, surpassing anything he had ever experienced.
The tumultuous whispers and insults that filled the hall went unheard by him.
"He's unbelievably despicable. How could he reduce the school beauty to helplessness, forcing her into a relationship with him?"
"Is there no limit to his shamelessness? A lowly, poor person like him shouldn't even dare to look at her, let alone claim her as a partner!"
"Absolute nonsense, a wrecked dog!"
It was only when the final insults reached his ears that Nolan snapped back to reality. The bloodshot intensity in his eyes silenced the insulting crowd. Ignoring them, he turned his attention to Darcy.
"You deceived me!" he shouted, his gaze piercing Darcy.
Feeling the pressure from his intense stare, Darcy swallowed hard before responding, "Deceived you? What's there to deceive about in you? You're the foolish one for thinking I was ever in a relationship with you, not me," she snorted.
"Damnit! I really can't believe I spent my every penny on you! You made a fool of me and here you're saying I was the foolish one. Wow!" He smiled bitterly.
"Hmph! If you insist that I've made a fool out of you, then so be it. I couldn't care less!" Her resolute and unapologetic tone resonated.
Nolan let out a sigh.
The previously silent crowd suddenly erupted in laughter, leaving Nolan standing there, thoroughly humiliated.
"Just as Darcy pointed out, he really is a fool."
"I never thought I'd see the day when a commoner would dare to be in a relationship with a school beauty like Darcy. His audacity is beyond belief!"
Meanwhile, Hansel wore a shabby smile.
He moved forward to Nolan. "I'll give you some friendly advice to just leave. You have seen for yourself how unneeded you're." He laughed, mockingly.
"Close that unruly mouth of yours!" Nolan angrily shouted, causing Hansel to shift back in fear.
Though unwilling to yield to Nolan, Hansel found himself with no other choice upon witnessing Nolan's expression.
"You've deceived me and made a fool out of me," he faced Darcy. " Well I won't say much, since I'm to blame. I'm to blame for being foolish, likewise am I to blame for putting you in my future plan."
Darcy scoffed. "Future plans? What kind of future can you plan? You have none, so don't try to sweet-talk me with the word 'plan.' Just go!"
Nolan frowned at her words. First, she cheated and made a fool of him, and now she was guiltlessly telling him to leave.
He squeezed his palm tightly while forcing himself to remain calm, before saying firmly. "I'll leave. Since you have asked me to leave I'll, but remember one thing..!"
Darcy scorned him. "Are you pained? What do you want to make me remember! Nothing you say can affect me!" she declared confidently.
"You'll regret this! Remember that."
With those words, he exited the hall and walked to the school compound.
As he strolled, memories of Darcy's guiltless yet decisive face haunted his disappointed mind.
Amidst the tumult of conflicting emotions, three men clad in black corporate suits obstructed his path.
Due to his absentmindedness, he failed to notice the men until he nearly collided with one, prompting him to realize their presence.
Perplexed, he lifted his head and inquired, "Who are you?"
The three men remained fixated, seemingly oblivious to his question, muttering among themselves, "It's really him. It's our young…"
Puzzled, Nolan interrupted, "What's happening?"
In response to his repeated question, the three men coughed awkwardly, regaining their composure with a faint blush on their faces.
"We're from your family!"
Nolan's face immediately furrowed, irritated by the earlier incident in the hall and now feeling like he was the target of a prank. "Please leave. I've no time to exchange words with you."
Undeterred, the three men smiled, seemingly anticipating his disbelieving reactions.
"Please hold on."
Growing even more frustrated, Nolan wondered why he should entertain their nonsense.
Just as he was about to unleash the anger building up inside him, a notification chimed from his pocket. Retrieving his phone absentmindedly, he saw a pop-up message.
Instantly, his expression underwent a drastic change, shifting to uncontrollable shock.
An alert of 200 billion dollars was displayed on his phone screen!
The disappointment and mixture of anger and anguish vanished from his face, swiftly replaced by astonishment and shock. He brought the phone closer to his face, checking it carefully to ensure he hadn't misunderstood what he saw. However, even after fixing his gaze on it, the alert remained visible on his screen. Nolan swallowed hard as he returned his phone to his pocket, his face marked with confusion. He couldn't quite comprehend why that alert appeared on his phone without any means of discerning who sent it. "Who sent this to me? Why does this seem so unreal?" Even after pondering it thoroughly, he couldn't grasp any valid reason for someone to send such an amount of money. "Hold on a moment!" Nolan exclaimed abruptly, lifting his head to address the three men dressed in corporate attire. "Was this sent by you?" They were the only strange individuals he could associate with the money transfer. The three men grinned. "You'll find out soon." Before Nolan could inquire further
Nolan stood in shock at Roger's words, his eyes blank, fixed on Roger. His classmates laughed with satisfaction. At first, they were also surprised with the harsh punishment Roger had given him, but they ignored it and chose to be excited. "We love the punishment, Mr. Roger." "It serves him right." "Now, we'll get a break from seeing his disgusting face for the next two weeks!" Nolan's mind wasn't fixed on the insults laced at him, rather he was having a chaotic and escalating heart rate. He was seriously uneasy with the thought of how to escape from the harsh punishment. Roger scowled. "Do you leave now, or should I arrange for you to be escorted out?" He had to raise his voice, noting Nolan's silence. Nolan snapped back to reality, meeting Roger's angry gaze. "Mr. Roger, you can't just suspend me for a whole two weeks!" The scowl on Roger's face intensified. "Why can't I suspend you? Are you challenging my authority?" He inquired with a cold tone. Nolan sighed, but he pe
Nolan's gaze remained fixed on them as he observed the respectful looks they were giving him. It was necessary for him to get their misunderstanding clear "You're misunderstanding. I'm no young master," he quickly clarified. They all chuckled. "No, we're not. You're our young master," they repeated firmly.Nolan glanced at them before sighing. "If you're not mistaken, then perhaps you're blind," he muttered. "I apologize if my words offended you.""We are not offended. None of us is blind, and we are not mistaken."Frustration welled up in Nolan as he witnessed their obstinacy. "Can't you see my appearance?" he questioned, gesturing to his disheveled outfit. "From my disheveled appearance, do I look like anyone's young master to you?""We understand your confusion. Don't worry you'll understand soon."Nolan glared at them, feeling provoked. "Can't you all just leave me alone? What do you mean by understanding my confusion? Do I appear confused to you!?" he shouted. He felt uneasy und
His heart leaped as he witnessed the man he had addressed as his father nodding in confirmation to his question."It's truly him!"Nolan's entire countenance appeared complex. With a tightened heart, he stared at him, uncertain of how to respond to the revelation that the man before him was indeed his father."Nolan, I'm your father," the man uttered, his voice carrying a gentleness. The complex emotions that had been swirling within Nolan instantly dissipated with the man's words. What replaced them on his face was a seething rage and intense hatred. Initially, he had a complex reaction to the unexpected surprise of seeing the man, but that didn't carry much weight. Now, he was consumed by a furious temperament.Observing the hostility in Nolan's expression, the man didn't react with dismay; instead, he approached, saying, "Nolan, I'm sorry," his tone subdued.Nolan scowled, taking a step backward. "Stay away from me. Don't come any closer."The hostility and anger etched on his fac
"Do you mean that all the fortune and possessions you mentioned are now mine? You're not joking, are you?" He asked cautiously, fearing Mr. Dawson might retract his words. However, Mr. Dawson's next words made him expell those thoughts out of his mind. "Why would I jest about something like this? Every word I uttered is true!" Mr. Dawson muttered, his eyes radiating certainty. The mind of Nolan was now at eased, recognizing the sincerity in Dawson's expression."Uh." Nolan nodded in affirmation, signaling his acceptance of Mr. Dawson's words. After a moment, Mr Dawson spoke. "I can see you're weary," he observed, noting the fatigue in Nolan's face.Without awaiting a reply, he turned towards the entrance and declared, "Elijah, come inside." Just after speaking, a tall, slender man entered promptly, bowing slightly. "Sir, you called for me," he acknowledged. "Yes, indeed." Mr. Dawson redirected his attention to Nolan. "Escort the young master to the room that has been prepared for
Numerous thoughts flickered across his mind, rendering him momentarily speechless. He was unable to fathom whether the words ‘ street dog’ were directed at him.As he stared at the workers, he silently watched waiting for them to clear his confusion.Nevertheless, with minutes of silence passing, Nolan chose not to dwell on it. Instead, he straightforwardly expressed his purpose, saying, "Excuse me. I'm here to purchase some clothes. Excuse me.”As Nolan stated his purpose, he awaited their response, but none came. They behaved as if he were invisible.Frowning and looking displeased, Nolan raised his voice. "I'm here to purchase some items. Can you all give me an audience?""Can't you see that we've chosen not to respond to you?" a salesgirl behind the glass shouted, giving him a hostile glare."And for what reason? Your job is to attend to customers, and here you are blatantly telling me that you choose not to respond to me!"Nolan's eyes burned with anger, but the workers ignored i
As Nolan contemplated, the composed salesgirl maintained her poise with a neutral expression. Her decision to stand by Nolan wasn't rooted in familiarity with him; rather, there was another reason behind her choice. While others assessed Nolan solely based on his outward appearance, she had chosen to overlook that and was instead drawn to his self-assured demeanor.Observing how he calmly and confidently responded to their threats, she took note of his composed reactions."Who in this world responds so confidently to a humiliating threat?"There was no one who would act all nonchalant in a dire situation. For him to have acted all indifferent showed that he has the moment to purchase clothes in this boutique.Aside from his confidence, she had stood up for him due to the insults and disdainful looks from their colleagues. "Feel free to choose the clothes you'd like to purchase, and don't..." the salesgirl behind the glass began, but Nolan had already walked out before she could fini
Exiting the boutique, Nolan wore a delighted expression. The unexpected joy stemmed from acquiring the clothing designs he truly admired. The chauffeur, spotting him in the distance, promptly waved."Young master, you've arrived," he greeted with a slight bow.Nolan had become acknowledged as the household's young master, not only due to his status as the master's son but also as the heir apparent to the Dawson family's considerable wealth. Nolan acknowledged the greetings with a nod before addressing the attendant beside him."Place the clothes in the car," he instructed. The attendant nodded and began placing the packaged clothes into the car. However, it became evident that there was an excess, causing the attendant to worry about where to store the remaining packages.Noticing the attendant's unease, Nolan promptly intervened. "Don't worry about it; just take the extra clothes back to the boutique. Someone will retrieve them later in the day."The attendant took the extra clothes
