Jeremy blinked a few times before recalling what Lincoln had said before his death.

It was a trap.

There were forces at play that sought to kill Jeremy and at this moment, Jeremy learnt about the identity of one of them, albeit a pawn, it was an accomplice through and through.

“The captain sent you on that mission…”

“No, but it doesn’t make sense.”

“What do you mean?” the Headmaster raised a brow.

Jeremy pursed his lips. “I was the one that volunteered to go on the mission. We can’t say that he made me volunteer, that would just make it look like I’m trying to toss the blame for my inability to protect my teammates to another innocent man.”

“But he isn’t innocent.”

“And as much as I’d like to believe that, I don’t want to blame anyone for what I clearly threw myself into.”

Jeremy seemed bullheaded on maintaining his stance on the matter.

It was understandable though.
