The monster pounced on Mave attempting to kill him this time around. Mave managed to veer to the side with all he could manage, rolling towards the side of the dead mobsters. Fortunately,  he escaped but unfortunately the monster nicked him on the side of his stomach wounding him.

Mave rolled to the ground and then mentally activated his skill “Energy absorption” and began absorbing the energy that was present on the dead bodies and at the same time, he yelled to Jiren.

“Toss me the bat now!” 

Mave knew he had two act fast because the monster was coming again. 

The monster pounced on him again as he laid on the ground, this time very sure that it will finish the job. 

And Jiren managed to toss him the bat.  

*Skill unlocked: energy infusion.* {Allows energy to be channeled into weapons}

Just as the monster was about to tear Jung to pieces, Mave activated all his skills at once using the energy he had just absorbed and immediately he leapt up into the air avoiding the monster and then grabbing the bat Jiren tossed to him in the air. Whilst in the air, he channeled all the energy he had absorbed from the monsters into the bat, causing it glow red and quickly slammed the bat on the head of the monster dog.

The bat slammed against the monsters head with so much power and speed that it released a shockwave causing the head of the monster To burst, sending the monster colliding to the ground, breaking all its bone and creating a small crater on the ground and causing the ground to sink in.

The bat broke from the force of all the skills used on it. 

Mave breathed heavily as he managed to stand watching the dead monster, that had all its bone broken and was now like a vegetable. 

Mave struggled to remain standing because he was out of energy and had no strength in him, not to mention the fact that he was bleeding so much too.

““now absorb the energy before you pass out so you can heal yourself.”” The system instructed. 

Mave did as he was told and absorbed all the energy from the monster,  and it was a lot, compared to the rest. 

*Level up: Jung Yoo, D class,  level 1.*

Mave smiled that he had finally won and and then he passed out.

Mave woke up in the hospital and he was just staring at the white ceiling of the hospital. He knew he was in the hospital, he could smell it and he could see it. Everything was still like a dream to him and he tried to recall it all.

He remembered the fight with the monster dog and then he frowned. 

‘it wasn’t supposed to be like that, the monsters were not supposed to be that strong and this much people were not supposed to die, just what is happening.’

He thought and then placed his hands on his head and sighed. He had expected everything to be easier this time around, but it was beginning to get so different and difficult. 

‘I need answers, that’s for sure. But the system is not so cooperative when it comes to that aspect. That reminds me, there was a level up prompt, just before I blacked out.’

Mave focused on his stats again, so he can see everything very well.

Mave stared at his stats and he was still very surprised because of what he was seeing. 

‘How is this possible, before I was E class just like every regular human but now I am at D class after defeating that monster, how come?’ 

He asked himself.

‘in my past life, humans couldn’t increase their grades, only monsters could do that after devouring a lot of humans and gaining more energy and power. Humans could only increase their level after they gain experience from killing monsters, taking augmenting portions or wearing augmenting armaments, but all those are temporary. But I have done none of those, so how am I upgrading just like a monster.’ 

He kept looking at the stats window, hoping to discover something. 

‘or have I awakened already? Humans only increase their grades after they awaken, so that they can be able to fight monsters.’

He asked himself, but then he looked at his status window again, specifically the part with his talents, and it was still blank.

‘No. I have not awakened, if I have I would have Received my talent. But I have not, meaning I have not awakened yet. So what’s happening then? System are you there? I need answers’

He beckoned on the system but there was no response from it. He just sighed more, Knowing that it was not helpful at the moment.

Mave remembered that he had been seriously wounded during the last fight and he touched himself, trying to find his wounds but he could not find any ,they had all healed and he knew it was the effect of the system and the new skill :Healer ,that he had acquired. 

‘so what will I do now?’

‘last time I awakened, I awakened as a B class with fire and earth talent.’ 

He smiled, knowing just how that talent had saved his life a lot, and also made him a big shot in the society.  

‘if I play my cards right, I might just become more famous than I have been before.’ He smiled more, since people who awakened with B class and above were few and were very valuable to the country, because they had the power to defeat monsters that appeared in each nation.

A class was even fewer and S ranks were very very rare. He could only remember three S rank in the entire country. And they hardly made appearances. He didn’t even meet any one of them.
