Chapter 27: Reason And Persuasion

After a sip, the elder revealed an intoxicated expression and followed with another. He appeared to be satisfied with the wine this time.

"Continuously drinking three bottles of wine from a junior without giving out some reward is somewhat improper. Unfortunately, even I had no idea how long I'd been here for. There's nothing valuable in my pocket now." said the elder.

"How about coming back here tomorrow? I'll see what I can find from my collection of treasures and get something that helps in reading and writing, deal?" the elder continued. He sounded more sensible this time.

This made Chen Tu feels that his effort and patience finally paid off. But the elder's following words made Chen Tu wish he could curse the elder on the spot.

"Since you're coming again anyway tomorrow, you might as well get me another bottle of wine on the way," he added. The elder image abruptly turned from sensible to shameless in one second.

**FU*K!**

Chen Tu cursed inside his mind. But regretfully, the elder had already mentioned finding something to help Chen Tu. If Chen Tu had lost his temper, all his effort and patience over these few days would've been gone.

(Fine! I'll just trust you one more time and return tomorrow. But if you continue, don't blame this junior for not respecting you as a senior!)

Chen Tu left, but not before he paid the same respect to the elder. The only difference is he's very angry at this moment, unlike before.

This time, Chen Tu returned to his room in a daze. But before he stepped onto the stairs, Qin Lei stopped him. The latter noticed something different about Chen Tu and asked what had happened.

As the building and nearby were crowded with people, they had no choice but to move the place to talk to Chen Tu's private land. After all, only Chen Tu, Qin Lei, and the three birds are here.

"In conclusion, the senior had conned three bottles of wine from you but never give anything in return?" Qin Lei said after he compiled the story. At the same time, it shows how important cultivation was because Qin Lei merely listened to Chen Tu once to understand everything that had happened so far.

Chen Tu also appeared calmer after venting all his dissatisfaction through words.

"Yes," Chen Tu nodded at Qin Lei's conclusion.

The senior brother nodded twice before looking at Chen Tu with a smile. He then shared a little about his origin, hoping to enlighten Chen Tu slightly.

Qin Lei then shared a little about his own family background. Although he wasn't an orphan like Chen Tu, his experiences were not much different from the latter. His only blessing was a great father who worked as a representative of Blood Refining Grotto in a nearby town.

His father even accepted to partake in a deadly mission to obtain an entry pass. And although he succeeded, Qin Lei's father lost both legs as the price.

This is how Qin Lei came to the Outer Grotto.

Qin Lei knew that he would surely be disqualified if he went through the regular examination for disciple recruitment. Furthermore, he was merely a cultivator at the strength of the second level in the Body Tempering Layer.

Like Chen Tu, Qin Lei's day in the Outer Grotto wasn't as positive as Chen Tu assumed. Every day was a struggle, and fighting for food and resources was the norm. This continued until he caught Elder Wei Xuan's attention while helping in the Spiritual Garden.

From Qin Lei's words, he had high regard for Elder Wei Xuan. He would obediently follow the latter's instruction without a hint of doubt as long as necessary. In his belief, this elder's care was how Qin Lei stood where he was right now, as an eighth-level cultivator.

"Anyway, it could be a stroke of luck, or it could be a dud." Qin Lei added after he finished with the story related to himself.

"Would you like to listen to my reason?" he continued after feeling that Chen Tu was still unpersuaded.

"Yes, please." Chen Tu nodded. And seeing how instantaneous Chen Tu nodded to him, Qin Lei smiled. There's a difference of six years in age between them. Hence, Qin Lei's words had a much better persuasive effect.

"Money and Tokens sounded important, but not as much as a single opportunity. Why would you see them with such importance? You have to remember that the current you, right now, had nothing except a body that could work daily for that mere three to ten tokens." Qin Lei said.

His words were like a lightning bolt that struck Chen Tu's mind.

When did that actually happen and turn Chen Tu into a monster that only holds importance over some money? As Qin Lei said, the most precious thing here in this Outer Grotto wasn't some Spiritual Coins or Contribution Tokens but opportunities.

Without one, it would be pointless, even if Chen Tu amassed hundred or even thousand of them.

"Junior brother understands. Thank you for sharing with me about your view, senior brother Qin." Chen Tu's gaze was brighter and revealed a hint of new confidence.

"I'm glad that you found inspiration from my words. In that case, this senior brother won't bother you any longer. I will be seeing you tomorrow morning at the Spiritual Garden." Qin Lei smiled and left the land that belonged to Chen Tu.

Chen Tu patiently looked at Qin Lei's back until he was gone from his view. And since Chen Tu was already here, it would be dumb not to take a look at the birds.

In any case, he could skip coming again tomorrow morning.

After ensuring the birds had enough feed, Chen Tu left and returned to his room to continue cultivating. And when the sun's brightness gradually replaced the darkness, Chen Tu made his way straight to the canteen.

He went to the Spiritual Garden after breakfast. He hurriedly finished his task for the day before returning to the Book Pavilion again.
