Gudmund returned to his room and sent all the servants away as he sat on the chair and gazed through the window. His brothers followed him into the room and looked outside the door to make sure that no one had followed them. Askild scanned his brother's countenance before he allowed his youngest brother take another step forward. "Di* are you alright?"
"There is no need to fear, Askild. I am back to normal and I will not never hurt you even if I'm not." Gudmund did not react at all seeing the caution in his brother's eyes. His second brother had always been the cautious one between them and he did not mind it since it was about Ivar's safety.
Ivar brushed his brother's hand away and quickly approached Gudmund as he sat on the bed. He seemed a little hesitant at first but he steeled his mind and asked him. "Di, is there a reason why you deserted our plan and cut Elif down like that? Who is the female servant you wanted to save so badly?"
Gudmund turned his face away, sighing deeply about the situation that he had gotten himself into. He and his brothers had been facing hard times ever since they went back to the past before the downfall of the great Krudak kingdom. His heart....no, the goddess's heart was the solid reason for his recent behavior. Although he had become stronger and faster than any mortal in the Kingdom, he could not control the rage and bloodthirstiness in his heart so he had feared that he would destroy the very kingdom that he wanted to save....
...Until he saw that woman again.
His cold stony heart started to beat under his chest and he was happy but confused at the same time when he laid eyes on her in this life. This person was none other than a servant whom had risked her life in his past life to help him and his brothers escape the palace back then. It was obvious that his brothers did not remember her but he could never forget the faces of the people who had spilled their own blood to protect the royal sons of Krudak.
"She is no one important, brothers. You need not worry about her." He quickly changed the topic in case they continued to question him about it. "How about Father? How is he doing now?"
Ivar understood his action but did not comment on it. "He has remained in his chambers all day since that old woman left. That priestess...why did she have to such things in front of Father? She almost exposed you before she fainted!
Askild looked a little bit worried so he interjected. "You might have to appease Father soon or you would not be able to leave this room. How about you go and talk to him?"
Gudmund shook his head wordlessly. He understood why his father was behaving this way towards him. The King had always avoided war and promoted peace during his reign unlike his ancestors who worked hard to expand their territory and make them the most superior race in the planet. He was obviously worried about him starting a bloodshed across the three kingdoms like the past. But things like this could no longer be helped. "There is no need. He cannot hold me here for long now that people from the Yottera Kingdom are coming here. How is the preparation for Princess Selene coming along?"
Ivar revealed a scheming cocky smile despite his eyes that brimmed with hatred and said. "Everything is already in place. I will make sure that your fiancee will never forget her visit here for the rest of her life."
Gudmund nodded, knowing that he had chosen the right person for the job. Ivar had also been one of Selena's victims in their past life and he had paid a great price for falling into her hands. "The Yottera women are very deceitful and cunning. You should be very careful in your dealings with them."
Askild waited for the youngest to nod to their brother's words before he finally spoke up. "Are you sure that we can get that purple diamond from her? I hear she wears it around her neck and does not allow anyone touch it."
"That's why we must get it at all costs. That diamond was passed down from her mother as it was handed down by their goddess, Drika. It have a connection with their powers of illusion." Askild told them. He was the one in charge of doing all this assignments and investigations among them because of his overly cautious behavior.
Gudmund nodded solemnly. "This time, we are the ones who will destroy our enemies and make them regret their past actions. At the meantime, I will continue to hone my blade to defend my position. We cannot let them attempt to dispose me again."
Askild and Ivar shared a determined look among themselves and chorused. "Yes, Senior Brother!"
Meanwhile, the old priestess finally woke up and was escorted out of the palace with some guards along with her temple maidens. Niva, her successor noticed how disconcerted she seemed and held her arm to support her while asking with her face filled with concern. "Nama, are you alright?"
"Hmm?" The old woman sluggishly turned her focus to the young woman and composed herself while reassuring her with a faint smile. "I am alright, child. When we return to the temple, I will be going into seclusion for a few days. You will be take over for the meantime."
The young woman nodded obediently, leaving the old woman to her thoughts. Her mind went to the visions she had seen when she grabbed the Crown Prince's hands and she found them unbelievable. She was also grateful to him for hitting one of her acupuncture points to make her fall unconscious but that did not mean she did not have questions.
What were the meaning of all the visions she had seen? Who was this person that was claiming to be the Crown Prince? Why did he possess the powers of a god? How would all of this affect the throne and the people of Krudak?
She had to find out.
Three days later, a female servant passed the guards and maneuvered her way around the palace hallway until she arrived in front of the Crown Prince's chambers. She halted for a moment and looked down to the tray she was carrying with an uneasy expression but she quickly composed herself quickly with the guards in sight. She cleared her throat and spoke up with a soft voice. "My prince, your food is here. May I come in?"She received no response so she parted her lips to repeat her words when a voice came from behind the curtains covering the door. "Come in."She inhaled a deep breath at the sound of his deep baritone voice and took a step into the room as the guards parted the curtains for her. Her eyes glanced all over the sparsely decorated room that was instead filled with fur pelts all over the place adorned with weapons until it met the prince sitting on a chair with a cold straight face that made her tremble a little. She immediately placed the tray on the table beside him and
Somewhere in the capital, there was silence in a certain house that was broken periodically by the sounds of some objects breaking on the floor with a thud. The servants of the household present were all wishing they could disappear at the moment but their masters had not yet dismissed them yet so they stood there with dread and trepidation. A young boy was on the bed panting out of breath and sweating as a healer carefully bandaged his injuries. Large drops of tears leaked out of his eyes but he stubbornly refused to cry out loud in the presence of his father who was pacing back and forth in the room. He gritted his teeth and said. "Father, you don't need to worry about me. I am alright...""It's not you I am worried about, Elif!" The middle aged man who was huge and tall snapped at his injured first son but he didn't even flinch. He kept pacing about until the healer was done with her job and had left the room before he approached him on the bed. He said angrily. "What is going to h
Gudmund found himself in a temple, lying down on the ground when he opened his eyes as the light from the sun pierced his eyes. He immediately got up and looked around his surroundings but he could not still guess where he was. A voice reverberated across the room from behind him making him jerk away in fright. "Oh, you are finally awake!""Who are you?" Gudmund took several steps back, realizing that somehow his sword had followed him here so he pulled it out without any hesitation and aimed it at the woman dressed in a purple dress in front of him. "That's what I should be asking you, Crown Prince of Krudak." The woman seemed unperturbed about the fact that he was wielding a weapon to her face. She removed the veil that covered her face and watched him gasp in horror to her delight. "Why are you here with the heart of Hildr?""Drika..." Gudmund felt a cold chill run down his spine when he saw her face, two eyes staring at him while the third one was closed. He would have never thou
Gudmund entered the throne room alone in a confident and imposing stride as all the ten officials present bowed to him in greeting. He braided a part of his hair and held it together in a ponytail and wore an unbuttoned red knee-length jacket with his sword unsheathed as it scraped the floor without a screech. He could see his father sitting on the throne with a smile on his face as he faced a young woman dressed in a light purple dress. He pretended not to see her as he stopped a few steps in front of his father and bowed respectfully. "Greetings, Father."King Sigurd had already forgotten the fact that his son had angered him in the past as he smiled at his favorite child. "Gudmund, you are finally here. Come and greet your fiancée, she has been waiting for you for a long time."Gudmund turned to see his so-called fiancée staring at him with sharp eyes as he gave her a small smile. He had practiced for this moment since the day he woke up and realized that he had reincarnated. He s
"I missed you so much." Eluf backed her against the wall and let his hand creep under her gown as he holstered the fabric up and rubbed her bare skin. The two of them kissed passionately until they heard a faint sound and halted immediately. Both of them could hear the maids outside whispering outside the door so Selene pushed Eluf away and went out. The maids jerked up when they saw her sudden appearance and immediately knelt down. On a normal day, Selene wouldn't have minded them hearing the noise that was coming from the room but she was already in a bad mood so she gave them an annoyed look. "What are all of you doing here? Don't you have something else to do?!"All the maids were about to leave at her words when she suddenly remembered that she might need someone to attend to her later so she called out to her most trusted maid. "Rosa, you can stay behind."The young maid curtsied as Selene returned to the room where she met Eluf on her bed, already shirtless. His well muscled b
Eluf left the princess's room before sunset and when it was time, the princess finally decided to dress up and visit her so-called fiance. She planned on spending some time with him so she could find out the whereabouts of the map. As she walked through the hallway, various servants would pass by and immediately lower their heads when they saw her. She reveled in the fact that she was already accepted here as the Crown Princess of Krudak Kingdom and that meant that she could possibly wield more power than her own older sister in the future. While she was deep in her thoughts, she didn't notice a female servant approaching with a tray of food and collided with her. The servant's tray tumbled over on her dress along with its food contents, making her scream as she watched one of her favorite dresses ruin before her very eyes. "You wretched servant, how dare you?! Look at my dress!""Forgive me, Princess!" The female servant knelt down on the floor with her head lowered after she reali
Yrsa who had offended the princess had been summoned by her master so she walked across the hallway with heavy footsteps. She knew that it was right for him to punish her since he has been forced to upset his fiancée because of her. She just prayed that he wouldn't go overboard and try to kill her, she would quickly apologize to her future mistress and stay in prison. When she reached the curtains that covered the room, she immediately knelt down as the eunuch by her side announced her arrival. She dared not enter the room but instead stayed on her knees as she pleaded with her head bent low. "Your Highness, Yrsa is at fault for angering the Princess. Yrsa is willing to take any punishment to appease you."There was no response to her words for a while and that made her even more nervous. She knew from experience that masters who were calm in anger were the most dangerous to deal with as they would carefully plan how to assuage their anger. But she had no feelings of regret since thi
The chilly wind blew fiercely across the icy mountains and thick clouds shielded the sun's rays with a dense fog as three boys walked sluggishly across the place. They gritted their teeth and shivered whenever the wind touched them but still they persisted. The mountain peaks and desolate surroundings were the only things they could see in sight after walking for so long and soon the youngest of the three suddenly stumbled and fell on the thick snow. His brothers immediately stopped and turned back to carry him up with wide eyes. "Ivar! Ivar, are you okay?" The eldest one rushed to pick him up and put him at his back, grunting at the additional weight that his weak body was forced to carry but he did not relent at all. He had been using the two moons on the sky that shone bright behind the fog to navigate their path but he still hadn't been able to reach his destination and he felt a little pang of panic and regret. Just when he was contemplating whether to give up or not, an old bu
