Constantine And Ruger Whitebrook

Hearing the voice that sounded in his mind, Constantine was not surprised by it at all. This was not the first time he had heard this voice in his mind. In fact, if it weren't for this voice, Constantine would not have been able to wake up at all and he would still be sleeping peacefully.

When Arran had first regained consciousness, it was because the owner of this voice had spoken to him at that moment when the doom had attacked him.

Before Constantine had woken up, his consciousness was hazy, and it had been floating in a space filled with clouds. Those clouds flowed freely in the air, forming many bizarre shapes that looked were actually pieces of Constantine's and Ruger's memories.

At that time, the voice had spoken to Constantine saying, "Hey kid, you've been sleeping for so long already, don't you think it's about time you woke up? If you don't, you will die, you know!"

The voice had not been loud, but the words he had spoken had impacted Constantine's hazy consciousness, sending a jolt of electricity through his mind and shocking him awake.

That was how Constantine was able to wake up and destroy the doom in the process. Ever since then, Constantine would occasionally hear this voice sounding out in his mind, pestering him to listen to him.

At first, Constantine had not paid any attention to the voice, thinking it was a side effect of his coma. It was only later he came to acknowledge the voice in his as being that of Ruger Whitebrook. the otherworldly powerful Evolver whose soul had fused with him.

Now, after three days and understanding what had happened during the past one year, he was in a coma. Constantine was prepared to confront the soul of Ruger Whitebrook, which still lingered in the depths of his consciousness.

"Kid, you're finally willing to hear me out? About time too!"

The voice of Ruger Whitebrook was young and vigorous, and there wasn't a sign that he was just a remnant piece of his soul that had not been completely fused to Constantine's soul at all.

There was a hint of complaint at being ignored by Constantine all this time in his mind, but all in all, he seemed cheerful about his situation. He didn't seem to mind his current state but was instead more worried that he was being ignored.

Inside his mind, Constantine had returned to the space filled with white clouds. This place gave him an ethereal and almost insubstantial feeling. It was as if the place was real but real at the same time and there was a faint connection to something buried deeper inside the white clouds that Constantine could barely sense.

Looking around the white clouds, it was not much different from how Constantine remembered it when he was still unconscious. There was only a single thing that was different from how he remembered it.

Looking at a certain corner of the space not far from him, seated on a patch of white clouds, there was a handsome man with short white hair and striking features like that of a sculpture. This man was sitting on that match of white cloud comfortably and he looked like some immortal being detached from the world of mortals.

Looking at this man, Constantine recognized him immediately...

This man was Ruger Whitebrook, a powerful Evolver, and heir to the Whitebrook Dukedom of the Ascended Firmament Star.

Right now, Ruger Whitebrook was looking at Constantine with a smile on his face and a carefree expression on his face.

Seeing him like this, Constantine frowned.

Facing this powerful being, Constantine felt uncomfortable and uneasy. He did not know how to interact with his powerful man, especially when he smiled like that without much emotion towards his current situation on his face... Constantine could not get a read on him. He did not know if Ruger was feeling angry or not, and this caused him to be confused.

Constantin hesitated, and he didn't speak for a long time. He simply kept looking at Ruger and thinking of how to interact with him.

This went on for a while until finally, Ruger took the initiative to speak to Constantine first.

"Look at you shaking in fear and hesitating so much. You're scared of me... that is to be expected, and it proves that you are indeed a weak and ignorant mortal. but there is no need to be afraid. As I am now, I cannot do anything to you so you can rest easy and talk to me."

Ruger's words were burnt and unkind and it was clear he didn't think much of Constantine. but still, he reassured Constantine and it finally made him relax.

Seeing as Ruger indeed had no intention to harm him, or more it was more accurate to say he couldn't do anything to him... either way, Constantine felt that it was at least safe for him to approach Ruger. in the end, Constantine took a step forward and started walking toward Ruger.

As Constantine stepped forward, the clouds moved along with him, and with every step, he took a small patch of cloud would appear below his feet to support steps and prevent him from falling. This was an unconscious act on Constantine's part and he didn't deliberately control it to be like this. He just thought of moving and the clouds automatically moved to carry him to his destination.

In a short while, Constantine was already standing in front of Ruger Whitebrook, but he stopped a short distance away from him. Although he didn't think Ruger could harm him, Constantine still decided to take some precautions and not approach him too closely.

Ruger did not pay attention to this small detail. Instead, he smiled brightly at Constantine, flashing a set of brilliant white teeth at him and saying.

"Well then, kid, how about we talk?"

Constantine frowned and immediately replied, "Don't call me kid! My name is Constantine."

"I know," Ruger responded.

"But so what? before me, you're nothing more than a kid. I'll call you as if please."

Constantine knew that Ruger was right and since he could not stop him, he decided to ignore the way he referred to him.

Looking at Ruger from head to toe, Constantine said, "You are Ruger Whitebrook, right?"

"How shocking... you know my name. But then again, you have my memories, so it's not a surprise." Ruger said sarcastically.

Constantine frowned again...

He was starting to dislike this man who was inside his mind. His tone contained complete disregard for Constantine, and his words were infuriating.

Constantine felt his temper rising, but he knew he could only endure this situation as it was. Just like there was nothing Ruger could do to him, Constantine could also not do anything to Ruger and could only let him do as he saw fit.

In the end, Constantine forced himself to calm down before he said something to Ruger.

"For somebody who is only a piece of remnant soul living inside the body of another person like a parasite, you are awfully calm about your situation. You seem so carefree. Aren't you worried about what happened to you?"

Hearing Constantine's question, Ruger Whitebrook smiled in amusement, and he waved his hands dismissively as he replied offhandedly.

"Believe me, kid, where I am from, this is not the most bizarre thing that has ever happened. If you leave as long as I have, you will learn to not be surprised and affected by many things that happen in life."

Like always, Ruger was dismissive about what happened to him, and he really didn't seem bothered by his current situation at all. His words implied that this situation was not an uncommon thing where he was from, but Constantine also sensed that this was probably Ruger's first time experiencing something like this.

Constantine had a feeling that talking to Ruger was going to be difficult to talk to, but since there was no other way to understand what was going on with him, he could only talk to Ruger and ask him directly.

"Since this is not an uncommon case, that means you must know why this happened, right?"

"Care to enlighten me... why are we like this?"

"What caused this, and how can we go back to normal?"
