29. Life That Shouldn't Be His

The feeling when you walked through the doorway and forgot what you’re there, that’s how Xavier felt to walk through the hospital door and enter the psychiatric ward for the first time. A little bit surreal.

It wasn’t walking in the park or like the stereotypes everyone just saw from television. Because movies don’t tell the whole story that someone should expect in the mental ward.

As Kija escorted Xavier through the industrial-looking doors, he was so nervous. The aura inside the hospital alternates between quiet and noise.

There were times when it was deafeningly quiet. Then suddenly, someone would shout.

“I heard the demons chanting the name of my savior! Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ!”

Xavier looked around the people’s reaction upon hearing the shout. Nurses were nonchalant. Patients, who went here to get admitted whether it was voluntarily or involuntarily, have a lifeless look in their eyes. They barely blink.
