The instructor's expression didn't change despite the look on Dan's face. She was more than ready for whatever was coming her way. Kayden had suffered severe injuries from the blow, but he wasn't out of the fight yet. His injuries would be healed by his Mana. He didn't have much of it left, but he still chose to charge forward.
The instructor raised her arm, blocking a hit from Dan. Just like before, it didn't seem like it took much for her to block the strike. Dan may be able to copy people's abilities, that doesn't mean than he can copy their quality as well. His ability was just as strong as Marcus's, but it was no where near the instructor's power. Kayden sprinted forward, joining Dan in the fight against the instructor. Despite the fact that Dan was fighting, Kayden had no idea what the instructor's ability was.It was a Mystery Class, but that was all he knew about it. Still, it allowed Dan to somewhat hold his own against her. Although he knew that she was holding back. The other students stopped practicing with their own abilities and we're heavily invested on the two-on-one fight. The other five instructors tried gaining back the students' attention, but failed miserably. This was first time any of them had seen three different Mystery Class abilities clash in a fight and they didn't want to miss a second of it even though it was just training. At this point it seemed like Dan was faring better than Kayden. He was nearly out of Mana, plus, he was far too stressed to practice the breathing technique.[Warning: Host is running low on Mana!]Kayden decided to step away from the fight. Dan and the instructor were locked in combat. Well, if you would call one person attacking and the other just dodging the attacks with ease, attacking. There was no way for Dan to win this fight. It seemed like he wasn't aware of that. While using her ability, it seemed like all this time, his full attention was focused on his opponent. He wasn't even thinking like usual and just kept on attacking without showing signs of stopping or slowing down. It was like he was stuck on an endless loop.It wasn't until the instructor did something her hands that Dan finally dropped to the floor. Without even touching him, he had been knocked unconscious. The others students were awestruck after witnessing the last moments of the match. A sense of admiration began to build in them for the instructor.Kayden had ran out of Mana, and his body began to revert back to being human. Walking towards Dan, she placed her hand on his chest. Then, a yellow energy could be seen escaping her body into his. The students were interested in what this yellow glow was. After passing this glow onto Dan, she then walked towards Kayden and repeated the process. He could feel a warm energy enter his system. But not only that, his Mana was replenishing quickly. Not long after, and he could stand on his feet."This lesson isn't over. We still have over thirty minutes left. For the remainder of this time, I want you both to keep on attacking me."Kayden and Dan looked at each other before nodding at the instructor's request. And for the remainder of the time, they would have their butts kicks before having their Mana replenished by the instructor.Once the abilities class was over, everyone was meant to head towards the final class for the day. They were all severely drained. They had no choice in the matter. The next class was meant to teach students how to use magical weapons. Unlike normal weapons, these weapons had magical properties. In certain cases, they possessed abilities themselves, giving one the power of two abilities in combat. For this class, there were three instructors teaching the class."I hope that other two lessons didn't leave you completely drained. You still have to go through us," one of the instructors said, gesturing to his colleges."In case you don't know, magical weapons are weapons made from the crystals of beasts. Beasts are otherworldly creatures born of evil. In the future, you students will be going on expeditions to hunt monsters and grow stronger, but for now, you'll have to focus on learning how to use magical weapons for now."The instructor pointed behind him. On the walls, there were numerous weapons on display."Go and pick any weapons you want," the instructors said. The students couldn't wait to get their hands on the weapons, so much so that their exhaustion seemed to have faded away. Kayden walked towards the weapons rack and began thinking of a weapon to chose. While everyone was choosing and fighting over the weapons they wanted, the instructors decided to educate them a little bit on magical weapons."You see, there are eight grades of magical weapons. The Basic Grade, The Intermediate Grade, The Advanced Grade, The King Grade, The Emperor Grade, The Tyrant Grade, The Typhoon Grade, and lastly, The Demon Grade. The higher the grade, the higher the gap in power between magical weapons."The weapons available today for this class are of the Basic Grade and Intermediate Grade. You will find nothing above that here."Although there wasn't a label to tell what Grade a magical weapon was, Kayden had his own way of finding out. It was all thanks to a little something that calls itself a system. Concentrating hard, it wasn't long until something strange began to happen. Werewolf transformation wasn't the only thing Kayden could do.In front of his very eyes, a set of information began to appear for the weapon he was looking at.[Basic Grade Sword][A decent weapon with good physical attributes.][Can only be used against regular humans and Basic Grade beasts.][Skills: None][Durability: 100%]Kayden decided to keep on searching for a weapon. Fortunately, the weapons available were more than three times the number of students in the class so there were more than enough to go around. It wasn't long till he set his sights on a particular weapon. Well, it was less of a weapon and more of an artifact.[Intermediate Grade Ring][A good artifact with okay magical properties.][Can be used against both Basic Grade and Intermediate Grade beasts][Skills: Teleportation][Durability: 100%]'This is what I'm gonna use,' Kayden thought, taking the ring and placing it on his finger. Once everyone had chosen a weapon, they all gathered around the instructors awaiting further instructions and teachings."One reason why there are so many magical weapons in the world is due to their high demand. You see, magical weapons can be utilized by anyone. Whether that person had an ability or not. However, it is also because aliens such as the Shales cannot use them."Kayden was listening intently on what they were saying, and so were his friends and anyone else who was interested in the lesson. But, there were always those who never took classes seriously."For today's lesson, you all will learn how to use a magical weapon. Although not all of them have abilities, you can still derive from the strength, speed, agility, stamina, and even durability they have to offer."Not only that, but you can also use your ability with the weapon, producing a stronger variation of it based on the Grade of the weapon in relation to your own strength. So for the next week, we will be focusing on how to properly use a magical weapon."Kayden looked at the black ring on his finger. 'Let's see what you can do,' he thought to himself. He was more than interested in testing out the depths of his power, being well aware that he shouldn't be showing too much of his capabilities, else the other students might get jealous and try coming after him. That was the reality of this world. When one is powerful but exposed, they become easy pickings for the weak and envious. Kayden needed to limit how much talent he revealed to others, even the instructors."To use a magical weapon, you just do the same thing you do whenever you activate your ability. For someone who is still learning how their ability works, they have to concentrate hard, not allowing anything to distract them as the slightest distractions could cause a mistake, and they would have to start the process of summoning their ability all over again."So to start this lesson, we would like you all to start concentrating hard on the weapons in your hands. Feel the energy in them, and draw them out."The students nodded their heads and tried their best to do as told. While there were those who seemed to grasp the concept quickly, having no trouble activating their magical weapons, there were those who didn't even know what they were doing. Kayden could feel an energy from the ring upon his first try.He was about to activate the weapon, but decided against it since there were too many people watching this time around.___________I hope you enjoyed the chapter. My goal is to one day become a famous author. If you want my dream to become a reality, then please keep on reading and support this work.Seeing that most of the students were having trouble activating their weapons, one of the instructors, the one who had been talking the most so far, decided to do for them a little demonstration. Being a high ranking staff in the military base, he was bound to have some good weapons of his own. Reaching into his clothes, he pulled out what looked like a wand.Looking at what was in his hand, the students started to wonder what he planned on doing with it."What I have here is a weapon of the Emperor Grade. With it, I will show you what to expect when you activate your magical weapons which have skills"Everyone's eyes lit you upon hearing the Grade of the wand. Suddenly, everyone wanted to have it for themselves. A blue glow began to surround the tip of the wand. Then what came out of it looked akin to lightning but blue in colour, moving with rapid speed, it changed directions before hitting the ceiling and breaking into pieces of glitter."What you have just seen is a lesser versio
Shawn didn't seem like the fighting type. Although he didn't challenge his roommate to a fight the first them they met. The fact that his rank was high was enough proof that he was no where close to being weak. The three chatted about random stuff before finally going to bed. The next day, on his way to class, Kayden was stopped by two students. Looking at their wristwatches, he saw that there ranks were s lit close to his. He was only slightly above them in rank."Look who we have here," one of them said. Titan four. It's nice to see you so early in the morning. So how are you?" he asked, his gaze falling on the wristwatch.Kayden was confident in his strength, he wasn't sure if he could take on two students whose strength were close to his. He decided to play off the situation, hoping that they would let him go peacefully without any trouble."Oh, me? I'm good. Ya know? Just heading to class just like everyone else," he replied. The two students turned to face each other and starte
Kayden knew he needed to grow stronger, but more than that, he desired strength.Coming from an average family that can barely afford to live a fancy life, he hadn't acuired his ability by conventional means. Meaning that he hadn't obtained it with money or other sought-after valuables. No, he had discovered this ability by mistake. Still, he was glad because of it.He knew that his uncle could never afford to get him an ability, not yo mention one that was of the Mystery Class. If he couldn't even get his own daughter an ability, then what could he have done for Kayden. The use of his ability had saved his cousin's life, and it was bound to safe him in the future as well. Kayden knew a lot about different kinds of abilities. Up until he had gotten his, he never knew about one that granted the user the power of transformation. Still, even though his power was rare, he knew that he was still no match for the students who coveted his rank. The fact that they weren't present for magical
Although Kayden had his own problems to deal with, the same could also be said for his friends. One of the was finding it hard to accept the fact that both of his roommates had been severely beaten and sent to the infirmary. He feared that something similar might happen to him if he wasn't careful enough.Carter now had the entire room to himself for the time being. He was kind of glad about it. His roommates weren't exactly the friendly kind of people. So far, his experience at the academy had been nothing but torture. Plus, making it worse was the fact that he couldn't get in touch with his family to seek moral and emotional support from them. The only people he had to share his pains and struggles with were himself and his friends. Still, he thought it would be best to focus more on himself for the time being. There was the match coming up in less than two weeks from today, plus, there was that expedition that would be happening half a year from today. He couldn't afford to slack i
Blake was about to take Carter to the infirmary after beating the absolute crap out of him. Seeing as had gone way too far with the beating, he decided against using so much force next time. Blake and Carter had almost nearly the same rank, but had grown far stronger that Carter over the past few days. He had taken all the classes more seriously than the later and was even more hellbent on surpassing his limits. So much so that he did something kind of crazy. On his way out of the room, his path was immediately blocked by a group of students."Hey, do.you guys kind getting out of the way? I need to get my friend over here to the infirmary," he said, gesturing to the blonde-haired student on his back. The five students looked at each other and smiled."Oh, we don't care about any of that," the leader of the group said, before shooting his hands out. Out came a flash of red light that zapped Blake and Carter where he stood, sending them flying back into the Arena and crashing on the fl
Since he wasn't able to stop both his friends from getting the beating of a lifetime, Kayden had failed the first ever quest which had been given to him by the system. Although there were no consequences for failing a quest, he was still disappointed in himself for not being able yo assist them in their own time of need.He had failed to protect the people he cares about once again. Kayden needed to think of a way to ensure that what happened today never repeated itself in the future. It was clear as day that the school authorities were not going to interfere in the affairs of the students. As long as the offspring of a rich and powerful family doesn't get killed while under the supervision and tutorship of the academy, then they had nothing else to worry about. At the end of the day, no one cared about the interests of those who had no connections to the influencial. Most especially when you look at the Grand scheme of things. In their minds, everything they did was yo ensure that th
Zain had been Kayden's friend ever since they were freshmen back at highschool. For as long as he knew Kayden, the latter had always been a secretive person, who wouldn't even open up to his friends about the things that were bothering him. However, after witnessing Kayden being at the mercy of those two students, he decided to step in and assist him at his time of need. He did something that friends were supposed to do for each other. Friends were also meant to tell each other what was going on with them when they had a lot of things bothering them."About what?" Kayden asked, his tone heavy, not wanting to talk about anything related to the incident that had just taken place. Zain looked at both students on the floor before turning back to face Kayden."I've known for a while now that these two have been after you. You've been worrying about them for over a day now. I saw how distracted you looked during all the classes today. You could barely keep your focus even when your instruct
Kayden's roommates were two boys named Paul and Shawn. While Paul had challenged Kayden to a fight less than two weeks from today, Shawn was more interested in others things besides fighting. Athough his strength wasn't something to laugh at, his wristwatch displayed the number 24.2, meaning that he was above even Kayden in rank.Still, despite this, fighting and growing stronger wasn't something he enjoyed doing. It was just a necessity to ensure that he could live his life doing what he truely enjoyed. Shawn was someone who loved to dabble in science. During his free time, he would spend his time creating all sorts of gadgets while further expanding his knowledge on the world around him.One would begin to think how he could do such a thing, considering the fact that his room was big, but not big enough to contain something akin to a laboratory where he could invest his free time in chasing his passion. Of course, he was able to do just that thanks to the Shales, well, their magic,
A VisionHikari was ready to improve his abilities even further. As an ancient spirit, even before his death years ago, he was a powerful entity with power that rivalled the strongest people on Earth. However, now, combined with the ability of this teenage boy, he figured out how to use the boy's power as well, in ways that Marcus had never even thought of."Come at me, old man!" He yelled, rushing forward with his hands covered in the strange once again. Upon getting closer, he swing his fist out, hoping to hit his target, however, the mayor was able to move out of the way, dodging the attack as he quickly went to deliver a strike of his own.Activating his gravity power, he was able to put Hikari in a direct situation once again. However, after unleashing more of his power, he was able to break free, before channelling a different power with his right hand. While his left hand was still covered by the blue mist, his right hand was covered in a dark red aura that seemed to pulsate co
Fighting against the large centipede-like beast, Kayla was doing her best to evade its attack. Now, standing a good distance away, she activated her ability, covering both her fists in flames as her eyes glowed bright yellow. She rushed forward, delivering a punch to the centre of its body, quickly moving away before it would close its legs, attempting to slash at her skin. Observing the beast, she was waiting for another opportunity to move in to attack. Whenever she would see a chance, she would rush in and deliver a strong blow, her flames burning the area she would strike.Meanwhile, the adventurer had made quick work of the beasts that were rushing towards them. Instead of focusing on Kayla fighting against the large beast, he was more interested in the reason why so many beasts were running towards their direction.'Before these beasts came, there was a loud bang coming from the north. Maybe it's a higher grade beast, or maybe…' he began to run in the direction where the explosi
"I like it when they run," Marcus said, a wide grin tearing through his face as he gazed upon tbe multitude of people scattering across the open road in search of safety. With screams filled with terror, the street was turned upside down as people ran across the roads, some crashing into glass windows just to get to safety.Seeing all of this unfold right before his eyes, there was a sense of excitement brewing within him.The soul that was taking over his body, seeing everyone running to safety, quickly kicked off against his feet, rushing tiwards tbe nearest person before swiping his hand, killing the man in a single strike.Quickly, he rushed towards the next person, repeating the process as he killed people after people, slowly littering the street with a pile of dead bodies. With all this chaos going on, ut wasn't long until someone had gotten in contact with the local police station, informing them lf the crises currently taking place. However, right after he had explained what
Simply on her way through the strange land, searching for someone who could help her leave this strange planet, she was surprised when she stumbled across someone who went by the title of adventurer, a person who hunts down beasts for a living, using their Mana core to either earn money on the global market, or to increase one's own Mana pool by absorbing the energy contained in the Mana core.Standing in front of him, Kayla was wondering what she would say now. She wanted to use this man to help her gain more strength on this planet, and also, she was hoping if he would be her ticket to actually leaving this planet and heading back home."Are you an adventurer?" The man asked, quickly scanning the attire she was wearing. He immediately noticed that her uniform was unlike anything that an adventurer would wear while put in missions. After staring at her clothing for a while, something finally clicked in his mind."Are you a military student?!" He suddenly screamed, his eyes wide in sh
In order to restore her Mana, she would have to practice the total concentration breathing technique, the technique that would enable her body to siphon the natural Mana that was in the air all around her, transporting that Mana into her body for her to utilize her ability. After a few minutes of concentration, Kayla began to notice something strange.'This is weird. Normally, whenever I cultivate my Mana using total concentration breathing, it would take at least a whole hour for my Mana to fully restore. Depending on how injured my body was or the overall quality of Mana I would take in, it would usually take a longer time for my Mana pool to increase.'But, on this strange planet, it's like my mana is increasing at a much faster rate than it would normally back on Earth. I wonder, does this have something to do with the nature of the Mana in the air?'Regardless of what it was, she was glad that she would be able to increase her Mana holding capacity at a much faster rate on this p
"Hey! What is going on here?!" A voice yelled, as the door leading into the room swung open, and rushing in, were two academy instructors who looked to be in a state of panic after briefly witnessing the scene taking place. Quickly, one of the instructors rushed towards the student still standing, grabbing hold of his arm and twisting his body, sending him crashing towards the floor the next second.Meanwhile, the other instructor rushed towards the student who had collapsed on the floor prior to their entry. Kayden was still in his werewolf form, but the instructor knew the student's identity, since there was only one first year student with a transformation ability."I hope he will be okay," picking up the student, the man rushed out of the room with Kayden slumped over his shoulder, taking him straight to the infermary to receive medical treatment. "How on Earth did this happen? Aren't all students meant to be in class during this time?"Picking up the other student from the floor,
After a while of rolling non-stop on the floor, Marcus's cries for help had finally come to a halt. Staggering for a while, he eventually managed to regain his stance, standing upright and facing Kayden with a mixed expression on his face.'Why wasn't I able to tell him what was going on?' he asked himself. 'Does it have something to do with this mark?'His gaze then fell upon the red mark on his arm. For a moment, nothing seemed too out of place about it at this point, but then, after looking away, his eyes went wide in shock as he looked back at the mark on his arm.'It changed!' he hadn't noticed it before, but now, looking at it for the second time, he couldn't help but admit that there was something different about the mark, abd remembering the sizzling pain he felt when he tried to tell Kayden the truth, he had a feeling that the change of the marking had something to do with it.'The last mark was meant to keep me from betraying the second years, but this one. This one must pre
To Have An AbilityRunning through the hallway, Kayden couldn't help but admit that whatever was going on in the academy was strange. For one, everyone's memories had been changed, and after the system had confirmed that Marcus was the one responsible for it, he still wondered why he would go ahead and do such a thing. And also, how he was even strong enough to do something like that. The yellow scent in the air led him towards the abilities class. Swinging the door open, his eyes immediately locked on to Marcus. Without giving him time to react, he rushed forward, raising his hand to deliver a strike right to his face. Opening his eyes, Marcus was able to see the attack just in time as he moved to the side, avoiding the strike completely."Kayden! Wait! I've done it! I've changed everyone's memories back to normal!" Not knowing why Kayden had suddenly arrived and decided to attack him, Marcus couldn't think of anything else to say. However, now that he thought about it more, Kayden
One of the skills he had unlocked from completing a quest from not too long ago. It happened during the time of the inter-student competition, when a rogue Shale had crashed into the arena and started attacking everything in sight. The quest stated that he simply had to survive the encounter, and after doing just that, he had unlocked this skill. As easy as that quest was for him to complete, he now had a skill that would allow him track down just where Marcus was.'Still, I wonder, is all of this really his doing? Did he just decide one day that he would turn against us? But why?' his mind then drifted back to the first time he had attended the abilities class. He remembered when he first heard of Marcus's ability. At the time, he wondered why the academy would let someone with such a dangerous ability be a part of the classes.Following the yellow scent, he ran through multiple hallways. The closer he got, the stronger the scent and the yellow mist would get. After a while of runnin
