CHAPTER 9

(SUNSHINE CITY)

(THE TONY’S COMPANY)

(BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING)

In a large and spacious office sat men and women on chairs; which were next to a long metal table, and they were beside one another. Johnny Tony sat at the head table, alone; he was the leader, they were having a meeting, and Johnny was speaking,

“… Now we should take the big step of making amazing invention, in technology too, but most of all, we all know the creation of Ultrahumans started in Star City; a project which was replicated in other cities like Clifford City… we could be superhumans like Hero, Miss Awesome and so on, all it takes is to replicate the same. And before I do that, I respect the decisions of the board, therefore, we’ll vote, and I will carry out the project to make us superhumans”

A man suddenly replied, “why do we need to be superhumans if Hero is there to protect the city?”. Johnny smirks and answered, “because he’s a man, he has to sleep, if you’re about to be assassinated by a monster and your guards are dead, what would you do? Think about it, he can’t save everyone at a time, we can also hire superhumans who are in hiding and not showing their powers to the world”.

Another man asked, “how and where?”

“I have some already, but you will pay, and more will come, but having our superpowers would be great, what if Hero dies, or goes rogue, then we’ll stop him, think about it men and women, and make your decisions now, it is safe and foolproof, cast your votes, if you agree, click the green button, and if you disagree, click the red one”

Bouncers in the room began to walk towards the men, as they dropped tablet phones right in front of all of them; while they moved back to their former positions. On the screen was a green circle and another circle which was red.

They all began to click whatever they wanted, while Johnny was staring at the screen of his laptop, he smiled sheepishly, he then sighs, “good, majority, thank you all for thinking wisely and making the right decision, I’ll carry out the project and soon, we shall be ultrahumans too”

Barry Tony was in an hotel room with a guy who was standing, Barry said “Scott, what do you think Johnny might be planning?” Scott replied “I don’t know, but if you want me to kill him, just give me the order, that’s what I do best” Barry chuckles and replied “I don’t want you to kill… you should make friends and for now I might not give you any task to complete, the first time I asked you to assassinate a company CEO was in Sar City, remember?” Scott replied “yes, I killed Mr. Benson, the man who teamed up with Dr. Hans to kill J*C’s wife, does J*C even know I did it?” Barry replies “I told him, and soon I might need his help, or he might need my help, but first, Johnny…”

(RONDA’S HOUSE)

Ronda was typing on her computer, when she came across a picture; in it were Johnny Tony when he was younger, with his father, mother and another young guy who looked like him, she was surprised and at the same time confused. She said to herself, “Johnny Tony has a brother?”

She switched on her super suit saying, “power on”, then continued, “who is Johnny Tony’s brother?” The computer voice answered saying, “Barry Tony is Johnny Tony’s older brother”. Ronda asked again sharply, “is he alive? And where has he been?”

“yes, he is alive, and has been living a secluded life, he was the rightful heir to the ownership of the company”. Ronda was amazed, and she finally asked, “alright, thank you, where is he now?”

(JOHNNY TONY’S HOUSE)

Barry Tony came in and sat right in front of Johnny who was having a drink, Barry said to him, “now I’m back, and you didn’t do anything, you failed to choose from my options”.

Johnny scoffs, “yes, because I fear no man, so I have no reason to do as you said”, he replied confidently. Barry chuckles and replied, “alright, I think I should just do what I came here for, to reveal your secrets, I have proof, and I’m safe, you can’t kill me because right now, everything we’ve been saying is being recorded and saved by my men, I’ll give you few more days to think about it, if you don’t do as I said, heroes in this city and beyond will join hands with me to take you down”.

Barry stood up immediately and left, while Dr. Elias came out to Johnny saying, “what will you do now?”. Johnny sighs and replies, “I will take one of the pills, I’ll have a battle with Mark; just to see if he can defeat me in that form”

(DR. ROBERTS LAB)

A monster was on the city road smashing and destroying things, it looked human but taller and huge, red beef skinned with black veins, he looked like the inside of a human. People were screaming and running for their lives while it was roaring. Hero and Miss Awesome landed together; causing a crack due to the speed at which they came.

“eww, that’s ugly, never seen such… what is that?”, Miss Awesome exclaimed looking disgusted.

Hero smirks, “whatever it is, it’s a threat, so we gotta take it down”, he said firmly. Miss Awesome nods in support; the monster had just noticed their arrival, then it spoke like a human in a blood thirsty and deep tone,

“Hero. I’ve been waiting for you, I wanna break you in pieces, so you can join your parents”, the monster chuckles while showing its’ blackish teeth.

Hero and Miss Awesome were surprised; they took a second to gaze at each other, then at the monster,

“it’s a human”, Hero said, and Miss Awesome immediately replies. “and a monster as well”

Hero gasps and yelled, “who are you?”

The monster chuckles while coming slowly, “you’ll find out soon”, he said, then he leapt towards them, while they quickly moved backwards. Hero yells and a larger shot heat vision than he ever did; at the monster but he blocked it with his arms and tried to punch the former, but Hero ducks and punched the monster backwards.

Miss Awesome blew the monster with wind, but the latter came back running towards them. Hero sent a blast of fire at the monster, but it still came at them and he smashed Hero to the ground. Miss Awesome disappeared and appeared behind the monster about to attack, but he suddenly turned to her and blasted her with an energy that immediately sent her falling backwards to the ground and looking weak.

Hero yelled as he thrusts towards the monster, but the monster grabbed his hand and hits his elbow, causing a fracture in his bone, Hero screams in pain, while Miss Awesome was trying to get up but she was too weak to achieve that.

The monster dropped Hero on the ground and stepped on him with his feet. Hero screamed in pain while the people who were watching and recording; they were sad and terrified. Soldiers had arrived already and they quickly began to shoot at the monster but it dusted off their bullets like it was just straw.

The monster jumped at the soldiers; attacking them while Hero was on the ground bleeding from his mouth and his broken arm, he was staring up into the sky while Miss Awesome had forced herself to move closer to Hero; she then whispered,

“Mark… that’s Johnny Tony. He’s that monster, get up and fight him”

She placed her hand above his broken arm and Hero’s arm began to rearrange slowly; “how did you know”, he asked, then Miss Awesome sighs and replied, “he made me weak, and the word he said earlier about your parents”

Hero immediately stood up and the monster was still attacking the soldiers.

Hero grunts and boosted towards the monster who quickly turned back to see, but before he could defend himself, Hero delivers an uppercut which sent him flying high into the sky. Hero jumps; following him to punch him back to the ground.

The monster falls so fast, and the ground shook, while a hole was on the ground. Hero landed on him then shot heat vision at the monster; while punching him angrily, “you! I’m gonna kill you”, he yelled at the monster, who suddenly grabs Hero’s neck and threw him through a building, but Hero flew back at the monster immediately and also punched the monster through a building. Hero jumped up really high and came down to land on the monster yelling.

He stomped the monster with his two legs and then threw it at a tanker as well. Miss Awesome was up already and the monster was just getting up. Hero yelled at him, “I know who you are!”, panting heavily.

The monster scoffs, “no problem, I’ll be back later… ah”, he retorted back. He quickly jumped up high and flew out of sight to escape, Hero wanted to follow him, but Miss Awesome stopped him; she said, “you don’t have to go, we need to plan and prepare a way we can stop him, don’t be driven by anger”

(ROBERT LAB)

Mark, Mary, Kyle, Ben, Bethany, Ronda and Nesa were all present; Mary was speaking to them all,

“so, Johnny Tony doesn’t only have the power to weaken a person, he also tutns into a monster, an ugly one to be precise, and he’s damn strong, which means things just got more complicated. We need to figure out a way to stop him, before he puts an end to our lives”, she spoke like a leader.

Bethany replied, “that’s really… really bad”. Mark nods and added after a sigh, “he even broke my arm”.

Ben exclaims, “huh, you should still be healing up by now, how did you…?”, he asked, while Mark cuts in,

“Mary rearranged my bone back to its’ normal positions, I don’t know how she did that”

“wow, that’s new”, Kyle said, and Mary chuckles softly, “just using my powers to help”, she said.

Ronda sighed and said, “guys, you have to see something”, she adjusts herself on a chair next to one of the computers. Nesa asked, “what is it this time?”.

Ronda clicked a button on the computer and it showed Barry Tony,

“this is Barry Tony, elder brother of Johnny Tony, and the favorite son of their father… also the rightful owner of the company; he and Johnny don’t get along, cause Johnny is… huh, greedy, Barry is back here in Sunshine City, and my guts tells me he’s back for what belongs to him, we don’t know if he’s a good guy or not… yet” , Ronda said and on stopping she turns to them from the computer.

Bethany replied, “we’ll find out” while Mark nodded and said, “if he’s good, we can help each other”.

“and if he’s bad?”, Mary asked sharply. Mark looked at Mary and answered, “then I’m taking both of them to the bowels of hell”

That night at a gathering nearby Tony’s Company, Johnny Tony and the board of directors were together with some others; guys, ladies, young and old, in a moderate number. But Johnny Tony didn’t show his face as the host of the program, but was passing orders secretly.

As he was about to leave, he said to one of his men, “unleash it now”, He began to leave in his car while the person on stage addressing the people said, “… and behold, a new dimension in which we can live, we can be superb in whatever we do… with this!”.

He opened a box and inside it was a metal box, then the people watched in amazement, and as he clicked it, then rays of light emanated from it and suddenly, everywhere began to shake as the box didn’t move from its’ position, then it exploded light; a wave of energy swept across some parts of the city; destroying and damaging things on the distance covered.
