Stephen took in a deep breath and swallowed his saliva. He knew Danvers' words were not to be taken for granted. If his memory wasn't playing on him, he remembered his grandpa narrated the scene that made them cross paths. He had a flat tire, and in the course of trying to fix it, a group of young boys tried to steal from him, but with Danvers' timely interference, they had to run for their lives.

“What the heck is going on in my house?”

Looking at Danver, “what are you doing?” Margaret, who excused herself a few minutes ago, dashed into the living room after hearing voices from her bathroom.
