The Suit

In the afternoon of the next day, Valerie knocked on Benjamin's bedroom door repeatedly, calling his name.

"Ben, are you in there?"

Benjamin hurriedly informed Joshua over the phone, "Valerie's calling, gotta run. You remember everything I told you earlier, right?"

On the other end, Joshua nodded. "Absolutely, Young Master. I've got it all in mind."

"Good, I'm counting on you. See you at the restaurant in a bit, Josh!"

"See you, Young Master."

Hanging up the phone, Benjamin got up and immediately opened the door to the room.

An angel stood right in front of him with a radiant smile. Benjamin felt numbed by that beauty.

"Ben, I want you to try on some of these clothes for our event tonight. Not sure if they'll fit, though."

Saying that, Valerie handed him a casual suit, chinos, and a white shirt. Benjamin was a bit surprised. "Where'd you get these? Did all these clothes come from your ex?"

Valerie shook her head and promptly replied, "Nope, for your information, I never had a boyfriend, not even an ex. I had these clothes tailored for me early this morning. You slept in, so it's only natural you didn't notice I'd left the house."

Benjamin smiled in embarrassment. "Yeah, haven't had that much sleep in ages. By the way, you tailored all these clothes, how'd you guess my size?"

"I did not guess," Valerie replied with a slightly flushed face. "I measured your body."

"Huh, but when?"

"While you were sleeping."

Valerie turned her face away. It was quite embarrassing since, while taking measurements of Benjamin's body, she accidentally brushed against some of his more sensitive areas.

Benjamin grinned widely. "You don't need to do that when I am sleeping. Just wake me up, it will make your job a hundred percent easier."

Valerie responded without daring to look at Benjamin's face, "You seemed to enjoy your sleep so much, I didn't have the heart to wake you up. Besides, I managed just fine. I was only worried that my measurements might be off, so now I hope you try on all the clothes."

"Of course, I will try them on," Benjamin said as he accepted all the gifts. "And, I will close the door if you don't mind."

Valerie nodded and Benjamin immediately closed the door to try on his new suits.

After he finished, he looked at himself in the mirror. Benjamin finally smiled.

"Even though it's not as pricey as the one my ex-wife got me, I sense a genuine sincerity in this ensemble," Benjamin murmured in a low voice. "It's a warmth I haven't felt since my mother passed away."

The last person who ever gave him clothes sincerely was his own mother. Benjamin got a deep sense of nostalgia here, his tears welling up slightly.

After composing himself, he finally walked back towards Valerie.

"This fits my body perfectly!" Benjamin exclaimed enthusiastically.

Valerie didn't respond immediately but scrutinized the man from head to toe. Once convinced of her own thoughts, she finally let out a sigh of relief.

"God bless. That outfit looks really good on you, Ben. You're fifty percent more handsome," Valerie said earnestly.

"Clothes make the man," Benjamin nodded with a satisfied smile. "I'm curious, how did you manage to get custom clothes so quickly? Usually, it takes a few days to weeks."

Valerie replied, "When I gave your measurements to the tailor, he told me that he had already made a suit with a pretty good fit."

Benjamin understood. "Oh, that makes perfect sense."

Looking at the clock on the wall, Valerie said again softly, "In half an hour, we should be on our way to Bluesky Restaurant to sign my company contract."

"I'm ready," Benjamin said. "Even if you want to head out now, it's no problem."

"The sooner we get there, the better," the girl continued. "Plus, we haven't had lunch yet, so we can indulge in some hearty dishes at that upscale restaurant before our guests arrive. I've heard from many folks that the food there is top-notch."

"Isn't that a bit extravagant?" Benjamin furrowed his brow. "Bluesky Restaurant is a five-star place, and the menu there must be pretty pricey, while your financial condition isn't exactly great."

"No problem, we'll order the cheapest dish at that place. The price for two servings usually only reaches a few hundred dollars, and that amount is still acceptable to me," Valerie replied.

"If you say so, I won't hesitate anymore."

Valerie went inside her room to get dressed. Today, she customized her look with Benjamin.

While she typically favored black dresses with no other colors mixed in, today she opted for a more cheerful look—a blue casual dress with open shoulders.

She also gathered her hair into a ponytail, inadvertently showcasing a very alluring neckline.

When she emerged from her room, Benjamin once again marveled at the girl's beauty.

Her skin was clear and glowing, wrapped in a cheerful blue dress, making her look like a pearl against the background of the sea in summer.

Even Benjamin who was not so good at assessing beauty had to admit Valerie's above-average beauty. One cannot imagine what it would be like if other men saw her appearance.

"You look stunning, Valerie. I've got to admit, your appearance caught me off guard," Benjamin said honestly and matter-of-factly. "I guess I'm still not up to par to be with you. I feel like a poor guy trying to pull off an elegant look."

"Don't put yourself down, Ben. If that's how you feel, then okay," Valerie reassured in a soothing tone. "You're already quite handsome and always deserving of accompanying me to any event."

"Your words are sweet; I've got my confidence back." Benjamin nodded firmly. "Alright, then. Let's go."

Going to the garage, Valerie said that they would use her car, but she asked Benjamin to drive this time.

Sitting on the left and feeling the softness of the steering wheel, Benjamin smiled.

"If I'm not mistaken, this is a Mercedes-Benz-A-Class sedan, right?" asked Benjamin to Valerie who sat on the right seat as a driver. "This is one of the most expensive cars. You got one, that's amazing."

"Yes, you're spot on," Valerie nodded. "Actually, it's not a very expensive car. The price is only around 35 thousand dollars now. I'm a bit concerned that if the Platinum Estate Company messenger sees the class of this car, he might have second thoughts."

Benjamin simply smiled and replied, "I have a feeling the Platinum Estate envoy won't think that way. Let's just hope for the best."
