The Trap
Benjamin returned to Valerie in the kitchen with a look of guilt on his face.

"I'm sorry, but I don't think I can join you for breakfast this morning," Benjamin expressed, gazing at the girl before him with intensity.

Valerie maintained a nearly impassive expression as she inquired, "You wanted to see your wife, didn't you?"

Feeling Valerie's twinge of jealousy, Benjamin approached the topic cautiously. "We'll just talk about the divorce papers. I'll try to get her to go to court. Maybe today or tomorrow, we'll officially be separated."

Valerie smiled wryly, then remarked, "I'm a woman, and I know all too well that Diane won't give up so easily. As long as she wants you back, she'll find a way. She might try various methods, perhaps by offering you everything you never received from her before your separation."
