CHAPTER 52 - SHOCK OF REALITY

One of the things that caught the arrested witch's attention the most was the fact that Megan had not called Ronan's death. It was as if she didn't give a damn about losing an excellent weapon. Susan had already studied some of Jesse's history since he had appeared on the radar, so she knew something was up. When she saw him clashing normally, it was as if no one important to him had died, as if he wasn't getting all of Jack's hatred for nearly causing his friend's death. Given Jesse's history, it didn't make sense that he was acting so coldly like this, she felt uncomfortable with the whole situation, it didn't feel right, it was like something was missing like some piece didn't fit into the puzzle. She thought that maybe wolf boys of that species were driven by a lack of extreme empathy, it was the only thing that could explain all those attitudes. She knew the boy was dead, she had felt it, so at least she was rid of that situation.
