Asher

Asher stood and stared at his watch with a confused look on his face, "Why is time so frickin fast today?"

He had woken up really early and prepared himself to go to work. However, before he knew it, it was already 7, and there was no taxi going in his direction.

"Why is my luck always so bad on the day I need it most?" Asher complained.

Today, he would finally get a promotion and start earning enough to buy a house after two years of salary and engage his beautiful girlfriend, Catherine.

"Ring City, Ring City..." An old-looking driver yelled at him from his worn-out taxi, pointing in the west direction.

"I have no choice." Asher sighed. He had been waiting for almost ten minutes now, but not a single driver out of the plethora of drivers was going his way.

Finally finding one, the car didn't look that good. Anyway, since he had no choice, he grabbed his suitcase and rushed into the car.

"Son, you dressed so nicely today," the old man smiled at him while observing him through the rear-view mirror.

"Thanks, just drive. I'm having a very important promotion today, and I can't be late. Please drive a little faster, and also, try to avoid getting in trouble with the police."

The driver laughed heartily and ignited the engine, driving slowly as he merged with the other cars heading in that direction.

During the journey, Asher had quite a lot of conversation with the old man who handed him a necklace with a red pendant, telling Asher to keep it as a good luck charm.

"Hmm, won't you need this?" Asher was surprised. Why would he hand over something like that to a random passenger?

"Kiddo, you deserve it more. Please take it," he smiled.

"Alright, I'll keep it," Asher said as he wore the necklace around his neck. It looked good, but he had to hide the pendant because he was going to work.

About twenty-five minutes later, they arrived in front of a multistory building.

"You work here? You must be a top-tier graduate then," the driver said with a smile.

Asher smiled back and handed him his T-fare, then he checked his suit and suitcase and rushed towards the office.

"Young man, your change!"

"Keep it, thanks for the nice ride."

Asher fist-pumped the two security men and rushed into the building, got to the receptionist, signed his name and time of arrival before going to the lift that took him to the 3rd floor where the main office was located.

Asher checked his suit and did his tie properly while in the elevator.

"It is time," Asher let out with a bright smile as the door slid open.

He took a proud step out and then, what he saw made him drop his suitcase subconsciously.

Behold in front of him, Catherine was in a hot kiss with Brighton, Asher's superior and assistant manager of Prime-M, the company Asher worked for.

Both of them hugged and romanced each other while their lips clung onto one another lovingly, their eyes shut as they enjoyed the moment.

"Catherine!" Asher called with a weak voice.

Catherine stopped kissing Brighton immediately and jumped back in fear, her look turning sour as she saw Asher.

"Asher, you are here? I thought you wouldn't come today?" She said with an apologetic look on her face.

"Why? You thought I wouldn't be around so that you can do this without me knowing?" Asher barked with anger, sadness, and disbelief sounding from his voice.

Catherine looked a little apologetic. She didn't mean to hurt him this much on his best day.

"Asher, stop raising your voice, you dog. This is a business place, and you are making our customers uncomfortable." Brighton, who had been keeping silent, finally spoke.

Asher's eyes turned to him, "Sir, with all due respect, you are the one who ruined the business place by romancing another man's woman."

"You didn't think this was a business place when you two kissed and fumbled with each other. What if an investor had walked in through the door? What would you have said?"

Brighton smirked. It seems this stinking church rat has finally grown wings. "How dare you speak to your boss like that. It seems you don't want your job anymore."

"From this point onward, Asher, you are no longer hired. You can leave the office and never come back!"

He said with a cold grin on his face. All the workers around could only stare at Asher with a pitiful look on their faces. Today was supposed to be his best day but has turned into his saddest day.

"Catherine, you did this to me? After our two years relationship, you have the mind to cheat on me," Asher sounded really hurt.

"Hehe, you mean you just found out today?" Brighton grinned, "Catherine is my woman right from the day she started working here. You were just a guy she picked to help her with her work, and you were such a good boy helping her work while she enjoys her time with me."

Brighton wrapped his hands around Catherine's waist and drew her closer to himself, grinning at Asher.

Catherine had a faint blush on her cheek as she caressed Brighton's chest. She turned to Asher and scoffed hatefully, "You are trash. You couldn't even find out that I was using you to work. I don't love you. You can go and die for all I care. After now, I'll block your number to make sure you won't call me."

"Also, I'll take back the house I rented for you. It was rented in the name of Prime-M and can be easily taken back. Also, you will pay back the $1000 you owe me."

"Now scram, you worthless piece of trash!"

Asher stood there, receiving verbal attack after verbal attack. Turned out the only thing giving hope, the one love he held on to, was fake.

"Catherine..." His voice lowered as he sank into a remorseful state.

"What are you waiting for, get out!" Brighton yelled.

"Guards, come take this worthless piece of shit out of here. He shouldn't be around here unless he has her money and the document of the house."

The two guards walked in, turned to look at Asher, and walked towards him.

One grabbed Asher, and the other grabbed his suitcase, took him downstairs, and tossed him outside the office.

Asher fell on the ground and hit his head on the hard ground structure, causing him to fall unconscious.

However, if one looked closely, they would notice the necklace he wore disappearing and forming into a holographic window.
