Eighteen

Madame Alice left the hospital leaving only Joanna and Travis sitting on separate chairs in front of their daughter's bed.

Joanna sighed for the umpteenth time, it became so obvious that she was in deep thought. She shook her head with a scoff escaping her, "I still can't believe this is really happening. I still feel like I'm dreaming."

Travis lowered his gaze and looked at her. "Well, it's not. Except we are both dreaming the same thing which is not possible, right?"

Joanna nodded in agreement. "Indeed, it's not possible. You amazed me today, to be honest, Travis. I feel like everything wouldn't have happened because of you."

"Well, I owe you, right?"

"I should probably just take it as your obligation. You're lucky you didn't turn out completely useless." She said, shaking her head. "I'm the one who's gonna pay for all the debts anyway. This VIP ward, money for the bone marrow, and the hospital bills."
