Twenty three

A week later, it was a new day.

Travis woke up early in the morning, feeling refreshed and ready for the day ahead. He tiptoed out of the bedroom so as not to wake his wife Joanna and their daughter Maya, who were still fast asleep. He went to the kitchen and started preparing breakfast for the family.

He put on some music, humming along to the tunes as he diced up vegetables for an omelet. The smell of sizzling bacon filled the kitchen, and soon the aroma of fresh coffee joined in. He poured himself a cup and took a sip, feeling the warmth spread through his body.

As the omelet cooked, Travis set the table with plates, silverware, and napkins. He arranged a vase of fresh flowers in the center of the table, a small touch that he knew would make Joanna smile when she saw it.

Being back home, all he just wanted was to put them back on good terms.
