Chapter nine: Mike

After mike's statement, he decided to go to the next stage of his plan.

Mike went to his most trusted Associates, no other than manson his best and only friend.

“Hey man!” mike said, as he entered into store and sighting manson.

“Hey buddy! What's up bro!” manson said, as him and mike do their best friends hand shake.

“It's good” mike replied with a smile.

“Yeah, I have something to show you” manson said, leading Mike to television behind the reception table.

“What is it?” mike asked.

Manson got to his reception table and brought out the remote and put on the television with speed, “what is going on?” mike asked, showing that he is confused or do not have an idea of what is going on.

“Shhh!!!!” manson said, telling mike to keep quiet and listen to the television.

Mike and manson looked at the television and watched the news and the news castter said “good day everyone, and welcome to today's news and in today's news, in sports, in the pro football league, the top team has lost points and has dropped to third position in the league table”.

“So what is wrong?” mike asked, because he finds nothing wrong with the news.

“Wait listen, this is it” manson said, as he points to the television and crossed his hands after that.

Mike kept quite and listen as the news castter continues with the news update “and today's breaking news, police commissioner Reynold made a public statement and he declared the suspect, the diamond necklace theif wanted with a bounty of 1million dollars to anyone with information about his whereabouts within the next there months and that's all for today folks, stay tuned for more entertainment”

Manson turned off the television and looked at Mike and said “you heard her right? This is thing is getting risk by every single day”

“Yeah I know” mike said.

“If he knows who you are, he might threaten your family and you know that is not good, who knows what he is planning right now?”

“I know” mike said.

“How?” manson asked, mike reply got him confused.

Mike smiled and said “I bugged jane's handbag, the day I meet her at the park with a mic and transmitter and now I can listen to their conversation”

“You are joking right? Tell me you are joking” manson said with amusement all over his face.

“Yeah…..listen…listen” Mike said as he brought out a tape recorder and played the conversation he recorded between billionaire Andrew and police commissioner Reynold.

“That is crazy, but what about the bounty on your head?” manson asked, as he adjust his glasses for clear view of mike.

“Forget about that! It's like chasing the wind because no one knows my identity and no one can” mike replied.

“And he thought he took care of his enemies, hahaha!” manson said and laughed out loud.

“I think we are getting close” mike said.

“Yeah, but what if they found the mic you planted in her bag destroy it, then what?” Manson asked.

“Then we strike” Mike said.

Mike and Manson sat down and Manson offered him a drink and they toast and drank. Then mike said “Manson what if I am doing the wrong thing?”

“As in how?” Manson asked, looking confused.

“I mean, what if my father was guilty and I am just attacking an innocent man” Mike said.

“Why do you say so?” Manson asked.

“Because bro, when we were in school, everybody said my dad was guilty and billionaire Andrew is innocent of any crime” mike said.

“Hey! Hey! Man snap out of it, you dad was innocent, he was set up and billionaire Andrew is the villain, I can feel it and besides from the audio you played moments ago, he said our other activities, showing that there is something hidden” Manson said, trying to change Mike narrative.

“Yeah, you are right” mike said, as he relax on the chair.

“And those school days, Jane was interested in you, like really love you” Manson said, as he smiled and gave mike a friendly push.

“Yeah you are right, but her dad never liked me, he warned Jane to stay away from me and then I meet pearl, my lovely pearl but Jane kept coming to me” mike said, as him and Manson laughed out loud.

“Yeah… and Jane still loves you till date bro, it is insane!” Manson said.

Mike laughed and said “I guess it was stronger than what I imagine”

“Yeah” Manson said.

“But her dad is the problem but her mum, Mrs. Andrew is very cool” Mike said.

“Yeah but Mike, I want to ask how did you survive on your own, after your dad was taken away?” Manson asked, looking at Mike with curiosity.

“Okay let me repeat the story, after my dad was taken to prison, I stayed alone for two whole weeks, though within that time I visited my father in prison, he will talk to me, my dad will make me happy, trying to make me feel better and sometimes the warden won't let me see him and that is not the surprising part, sometimes when I go to see him, I will see Mrs. Andrew, billionaire andrew's wife at that time, before they divorce, and also Janes mother, talking to father in a low voice tone, like she is giving him information that is not supposed to be given out” mike narrated.

“So what happened after then?” Manson asked.

“So I will usually go back home and seat down playing with my self because no one wanted to play with me, I was despondent but one I sat outside of the house and I saw a vehicle that pulled over near my house and I thought it was the police and I was about to run when I saw an old man came out and asked of my name, father's name, I answered the questions and then he apologize for my father's incident and someone, a man gave me a letter and that was how I got the scholarship and meet you in school” mike said, with a smile on his face.

“Yeah, and did the man tell you who paid for it, I mean the scholarship?” Manson asked.

“I thought of that and I asked him and he said, an anonymous supporter” Mike said.

“And you do not know who paid for it till now?” Manson asked.

“Yes I don't know but I will know soon” Mike said.

“Yes, that is the ways of Mike, the investigator ” Manson said and they both laughed.

“Thanks for your help fam, I really appreciate” Mike said.

“No worries that is what friends do for each other” Manson said.

“Okay I have to be going back home” Mike said, as he stood up and gave Manson a hand shake and left the store.

Mike got that evening, as he opened the door, he Pearl to shout at him for coming late but she just said welcome home.

“Dad!” Roy shouted as he run to give him a hug.

“Yeah Roy! How are you doing? Can you give me a minute, I want to talk to your mom” mike said with a smile and Roy nodded and excused him.

“Hey dear, you are calm today and you are dressing up like as if you are going on a date or something, what's going on?” Mike asked.

“Yeah I am going on a date” Pearl said.
