Chapter 4: The suspect

“Sir, we have to search you,” one of the policemen said, holding his Glock and staring into Mike's eyes.

“Common officers I didn’t steal anything” Mike responded, touching his pocket showing that there was nothing in it, but the officers insisted on searching Mike.

Mike was told to raise his hands and face the wall before the officers could search him, an officer put on gloves and came close to Mike as he leaned into the wall.

Mike immediately turned and looked at the policeman who was about to search him, catching a glimpse of his name on his crest.

“Hey! Joe, you still want to search me up I showed you that I have nothing on me,” Mike said, trying to defend himself

“It is what it is,” said Officer Joe

That response gave Mike a flashback to the day his father was arrested. Officer Joe searched Mike and saw nothing, Mike was allowed to go.

As Mike approached the exit door, he turned and said “Officer Joe!”, an officer turned and looked at him, “I wish, one day, we can work together to arrest the real thieves behind all these”

“Yeah! I can't wait” Officer Joe responded casually and went back to searching for the missing diamond necklace but Mike meant every single word he said.

Mike walked through the door with a smile on his face. Mike met Pearl waiting for him outside.

“What took you so long and what is going on?” Pearl asked

“Oh! Sorry for the delay dear, umm… the diamond necklace that is supposed to be auctioned got stolen and I had to search” Mike replied

“Oh! I feel bad for billionaire Andrew, can we go now?” Pearl sympathized and asked.

“Yeah me too” Mike answered sarcastically

Mike and Pearl walked to Manson's car but they did not see him there,

Pearl asked, “Where is Manson?”

“He is on his way” Mike answered

A few minutes later, Manson came, he looked at Mike and nodded and Mike reciprocated. Manson enters the car and starts the engine, Mike helps Pearl with her handbag as she enters the car slowly. They all entered the car and zoomed off.

The following day, Mike visited Manson in his clock store to celebrate their victory. Mike and Manson were happy to see each other, they hugged exchanging greetings.

Manson offered Mike a seat.

“Mike! I can't believe we pulled it off” Manson said

“Yeah, I told you we will,” Mike said, they both laughed.

“So how did your part of the plan go?” Manson asked.

“Okay, listen! When I got into the kitchen as planned, I surveyed the area and noticed that there was a passage to the backstage and the security guard had just left, so I changed my clothes, impersonating the guard and I tricked the escort team into giving me the necklace and when I was taken It to the stage I extracted the diamond necklace from the glass box” Mike explained

“And no one noticed because they all thought it was inside the glass box and it was covered with a veil, I followed your timing of 10 minutes extraction and change of position after I saw you had changed position I shut off the lights and put it back on before the unveiling of the necklace” Manson explained

“At that point, it looks as if it was stolen there and then,” Mike said

“But it caused commotion, so how did you get out with the necklace in hand? During the whole police search,” Manson asked

“I didn't, I told you that Pearl was helping us without her knowing, now before the unveiling and lights going off and on, remember that I told you that Pearl wouldn't stay long because Roy was at home, so Pearl came up to me at the event before the unveiling when I have already extracted the necklace, and said that she is going home, so I gave her a hug and slipped the necklace into a bag, and I told her to wait outside for me, she left undictated” Mike narrated.

“Yeah, so how did you get those butler tuxedos and into the control room” Mike asked

“The plan was to get the Same tuxedo as the butlers, but I didn't know where to get them or what color of tuxedo the butlers were going to wear, so fortunately, a man came to my store with a bag, looking for a pocket watch for an auction event, I sold him the watch and I asked what event? He said, the one hosted by billionaire Andrew and he was the chef, Stewart, he went into details about the event and he gave me the color of the tuxedo and what was engraved on it, so I created mine” Manson narrated

“Yeah, so how did you get into the control room?” Mike asked

“When I got to the control room, there was only one guy there, so I created a fake emergency, I told him that I was part of the security team, showing him the fake identification card we created and that I was conducting a security sound check and he excused me. After I accomplished my mission, I disappeared before he came back” Manson said

“Cool! After that, I went outside to meet Pearl holding the package unknowingly. When we were in the car, Pearl slept off allowing me to take it out of her handbag and slip it under your car seat, and here we are” Mike narrated

Manson chuckled and said “Yeah, we did it”

“Yeah, so where is it?” Mike asked

Manson looked around and shut the door of his clock store turned to Mike and said “Come with me”. They went down to the basement of the Manson clock store.

Manson switched on the lights and Mike stood by the side looking at Manson. Manson opened a closet where he normally keeps watches undergoing repairs, Manson brought out a box and revealed the diamond necklace.

“Wow!” Mike said

“Such a beauty,” Manson said

Mike and Manson stood there staring at the diamond necklace in admiration.

“So what next?” Manson asked

“We sell piece by piece and we will keep trying to expose billionaire Andrew and his colleagues until he is caught,” Mike said

After a long day, Mike got home and he was greeted by Roy.

“Dad! I am in the third chapter” Roy said

“Good! What is the title?” Mike asked

“It’s THE SUSPECT” Roy answered

Roy kept telling Mike about the book but meanwhile, in billionaire Andrew’s mansion, billionaire Andrew was in grief about the missing necklace.

“What happened last night?” Billionaire Andrew asked the police commissioner Reynold angrily.

“So… sorry sir I don’t know how they slipped through, I assure you that I and the entire police force will bring down this gang of thieves,” police Commissioner Reynold said

Officer Joe walked into the room, saluted the commissioner, and said “Sir! We have reviewed the camera footage and I think we have something”

Billionaire Andrew, commissioner Reynold, and Officer Joe went into the security room, where they were shown the footage of the incident.

As the footage was being played, Jane walked in.

“Sir, this is what we have, the suspect was backing all cameras and his face was always down” Officer Joe

“Wait! Play it back I think I know who that is” Jane said
