Forest of Trials II

Zeke sat on the ground as soon as he finished. Now that the fight is over, the adrenaline running in his body died down. The pain from the fight began to sharpen as his fingers trembled and his body became warmer by the second. Daemon faced the sky, his eyes wide open as he began to assess the damage that’s done to him. Specifically, to his face that burned the most. This is the part that’s been hit by the goblins.

“Damn, is this gonna kill me or something?” He said out loud as a smile spread on his lips.

Zeke doesn’t know why but the thought of dying to such a small wound just struck him as something funny. Even though it is his own death that it may cause. Though that will never happen.

[You have cleared the First Part of the trial.]

[Assessing results…]

These things showed up in front of Zeke. The one thing that he followed in order to make sense of things is now showing up again. He remembers something about a [Class Change] being mentioned. Though that doesn’t seem to be something that he can get anymore. Not if he dies at least.

[You have Leveled Up! x3]

As soon as this message showed up, a new sensation almost overcame the body of Zeke. He felt as if all of the pain that’s built up is suddenly washed away. There is warmth. But not the same destructive kind that he felt before. A gentle one that spread across his body, making him feel like he’s being reborn.

[Notice: Leveling up heals all wounds that are acquired within the span of an hour. However, severed body parts and serious injuries can only be cured if you level up within thirty minutes after receiving damage.]

“Isn’t that just convenient.” Zeke chuckled to himself. “So you’re not gonna let me die that easily huh.”

Zeke doesn’t know who he’s talking to of course. He’s just freely expressing his mind. Thankful that he’s not dead yet because, in all honesty, he doesn’t want to bite the dust yet. Not now that he’s given a free pass to killing.

[You have gained the skill – Cheapshot]

[Skill Type – Passive]

[Mana Cost – None]

[Information – Grants a 10% increase in damage when using cheap tricks and tactics to attack an enemy.]

“Mana, what the hell is that supposed to be?” Zeke asked, though he isn’t given an answer. Instead, he’s shown the two other skills that he acquired.

[You have gained the skill: Swift]

[Skill Type – Passive]

[Mana Cost – None]

[Information – Grants a 5% increase to movement speed, attack speed, and reaction time.]

[You have gained the skill: Weak Spot]

[Skill Type – Passive]

[Mana Cost – None]

[Information – Grants vision of weak spots of an enemy. Hitting the weak spots ensures critical damage.]

If there’s one thing that Zeke is sure of, it’s that all of these skills have something to do with the accomplishments he’s done. After all, the first skills he gained are of this nature so there’s no reason for him to think otherwise. Besides, with how the new skills appeared, this theory of his just solidified.

Zeke’s now reached a new conclusion because of this. Adding to the facts that he’s building up in order to make sense of everything that’s happening. That has to wait though because, now, he has to take care of everything else that this [System] is giving him.

[You have gained a job class.]

[Assessing the fighting style that’s used…]

[You are now an Assassin.]

[Job Class Information: Assassins are light-footed, stealth focused, high damage burst dealers. As a tradeoff, an assassin usually has low health and armor due to the kind of armor and materials they use – prioritizing speed and movement over defense.]

“An assassin huh. That doesn’t sound so bad.” Zeke muttered as another window popped up.

[Extra Skill: Assassination]

[Skill Type – Passive]

[Mana Cost – None]

[Information: Hitting an opponent below five percent health will automatically result in the target’s death. This is an execute skill and cannot be negated by shields. Though immunity, healing, and other effects can still cancel it out.]

[Information: Should the passive fail in any way, the timer for the next activation of assassination will be two minutes.]

“Huh. I guess that’s fair.” Zeke said. “I mean, a sure kill skill definitely needs restrictions, even if it’s just one I can use when the opponent’s at five percent health.”

Zeke sat back up. There are other things that the [System] is still showing him but, he doesn’t want to read through all of them in such a relaxed position. Though he’s finished with the goblins, there’s not telling if there are others of their kind lurking nearby. Or worse, there may be monsters stronger than goblins.

[Extra Skill: Assassin’s Essence]

[Information: Grants a ten percent permanent increase to the agility and luck stat.]

“Agility and what?” Zeke asked as this is a vague explanation. “Hey, can’t I control this interface somehow? It’d be shitty if you give me something like this and I can’t actually use it.”

Zeke’s already betting on the possibility that this plea of his isn’t heard. But, that being said, he still made it. Thankfully he did because, now he’s getting rewarded for it.

[Certain commands create certain responses. For ease of the System’s use, here are your commands.]

A list of commands are prompted in front of Zeke. These are the ones he can currently use. There are thirty in total but, the others are still locked. With a [???} icon being displayed over them. Nevertheless, he doesn’t need what he doesn’t have. Instead, Zeke focused on the commands that can be accessed – using one at that moment.

“Status Window.”

[Name: Zeke Elwood]

[Assassin – Level 4]

These are the first things that Zeke saw. The command basically prompts him to access the information about himself. Things that are important for him to continue surviving in whatever situation it is that he’s now been forced to.

[Health Points (hp) – 1,000]

[Mana Points (mp) – 500]

[Strength – 5]

[Intelligence – 8]

[Speed – 15]

[Luck – 10]

Right as soon as these appeared, Zeke wanted to get a full, in depth explanation of all four stats that he has. There’s also a command for this. Unfortunately for him though, this has to wait because he suddenly heard something from the bush nearby. With this comes a new quest window.

[Second Part of the Quest – Bloodthirsty Goblins]

[Information: Kill the goblins that are out for revenge for their allies that you killed.]

“Guess I can’t even rest huh.” Zeke said as he drew the first two daggers that he’s got.

A smile slowly crept on his lips and he felt his body getting all jittery. Now that he’s gotten a taste of what it’s like to hunt these creatures, it would be difficult for him to have his fill. Not until he kills as many as he wants. And that, is a request that will be quenched soon enough as, a horde of goblins sprang out into the open.

[Requirement – Kill 100 Goblins]

[Duration – 48:00:00]

[Punishment for Failure…]

[Instant Death]
