And as it did, the whole space about him flickered, rewarded by a gasp from Lekan's mouth and a widening of his eyes.
Startled, Lekan drew back, his eyes wide as he began to breath rather rapidly, panic beginning to surge through his whole body. He placed his hands against the wooden surface of the door, trying to feel for anything... just anything that could make him feel a bit more confident that he found something. But he found nothing, much to the increment of his worry and panic.
His chest heaved quickly, his breaths becoming ragged and rapid with each passing second. Adrenaline pumped into his body as he scrambled his legs seeing as the room, his bedroom began to get eaten up by the strange reality creeping into his space.
"No... no, what is this?" Lekan gasped, blinking his eyes now. "What is this... aaaghh!"
He groaned, bending his head and shaking it slowly and painfully as he gritted his teeth. As he groaned out, he could not help shake the feeling of familiarity that soared through his body about what was happening.
It was almost as if this particular scene had presorted himself some how. But he could not place it. And the fact that he did was unable to place it made his head ache and his heart throb with pain. Pain that he knew what was happening but yet could not understand how he was living through it again.
After grimacing for a few more minutes, he painstakingly lifted his head, slowly. With his teeth bared, he looked up to the center of the room watching as how the whole room had changed in that moment when he had kept his head down.
Something liquid played at his fingers and he looked down, a gasp escaping his mouth at what he saw. He was sitting in a pool of blood, everywhere about him soaked and filled with blood. It was a blood bath.
And right at the center of the room was a lady in a long gown, cackling as she laughed about like some maniac. And as he looked at her, she seemed to be the one who was capable of wrecking this havoc about. From the way he saw her, she seemed to be some sort of villain who would be rejoicing after destroying the protagonist in a story or something.
Watching her rejoice made his blood boil. The fact that the whole landscape was changed to that of an area that had been ridden by wars and bombs did not baffle him at all.
Instinctively, he bared his teeth, squeezing his face in anger as he watched the lady rejoice.
First, he was angry that she would cause all of this. Secondly, he boiled because this woman had the guts to come down here, in his room and was rejoicing over something as senseless as that. His muscles ached and trembled, strength from nowhere surging into his body as he jerked his head up with a guttural growl.
The Lady figure looked at him now and smiled, her eyes calling out to him. Seeing that, Lekan began to lift himself up, his hands pushing his body up while he leaned forward as if he was just about to spring forward.
The lady laughed and Lekan growled, jerking forward only for...
KNOCK... KNOCK... KNOCK...
Lekan blinked, hearing another series of knocks resounded on his door. He almost wanted to ignore the knocks, ruling out whoever was knocking to be his Uncle.
And right now, that mister was the last person he wanted to see. However, he frowned and looked back at the door. Over his shoulder noticing something he had not noticed from before.
This time, the knocks were gentler. Almost as if the one who was walking did not really want to knock but just had to do it because the person wanted to see him. Or something like that.
"Hi, Lekan. It's me. and I understand if you don't want to open the door for me to come in."
Lekan swallowed as he heard the voice call to him. It sounded feminine, a confirmation to him that it was not his Uncle who was knocking. In that space of time, the room reverted back, the vision of the lady rejoicing and the war torn city, all vanishing.
He eased his face off the frown as he got to his feet, wondering who it was. If it was not his Uncle Desmond, then who could it be? Lekan reasoned.
He dusted his hands now and cleared the ring and the envelope. Placing it on the topmost layer of the book shelf to his left and then sighed to himself after watching himself in the mirror.
He rubbed his eyes with his knuckles and then heaved out one more time before shaking his head and turning to the door.
"It's me, Blessing." Lekan rested his head against the door now, placing his right hand on the door handle. "And... I was thinking you would not want any one around you but then again..." Blessing's voice broke now, becoming rather emotional. "I couldn't just bear it with myself to stay away from you in these times."
She sniffed from the other side of the door.
"I miss you Leh..." Another sniff sounded off. "And I just cannot wait to see you. Please don't do this to yourself. Don't shut the world away from you, okay?"
There was a pause form outside the door, so silent that Lekan could swear he could hear the sobs and the heavy breaths from Blessing. And in a way, it made him feel all so guilty, making his eyes tear up as well.
"I understand if you still won't come out. So, I would take my leave now. Just... J-jisy be good. I really miss you, Leh!" Blessing sobbed out one more time.
Running footsteps resounded, alerting Lekan to the fact that she was running and crying away. Guilt stricken, Lekan sighed heavy, shaking his head as he turned the lock.
The door gave way instantly and out came the stale air. In that same time, the one who was running stopped, as her footsteps slowly halted. It took a while, Lekan standing in the room with his hand still on the lock while not stepping out or saying a word to Blessing. However, to Blessing, it was all the invitation she needed as her footsteps began to sound even closer with the passing seconds.
And once it was only but a few more steps, Lekan could hear the increased pacing as she ran. Running back to his room.
"Ah..." Lekan winced as the girl dashed into he to and wrapped her hands around his waist, sobbing into his chest.
"Lehhhhhhhhhhhhh..." She cried out, her saddened sob echoing through the room.
"Uh??" Lekan frowned, looking at the grill who was hugging him from the top of her hair.
He was just a little taller than her but he was slimmer. Blessing had more flesh than he did. Even so, by the pose they struck up now, he looked like a big brother, patting the head of a sister despite the fact that he was the one who lost his parents and not her.
"Geez, Bles... I'm the one mourning here. Why you so much of a crybaby?" Lekan chided.

Rather than protest the words, she snuggled in closer to him, wrapping her hands around his body and tighter like she was not ever going to let go of him. It had been a while and true to her words, she really missed him.Lekan himself could not bear to bring himself to deny her of the hug that she was engaging in. After all, he himself could tell that he was beginning to get used to her presence now, after being gone for as long for so long.He schooled in a boarding school while his friend attended a close by school. She was a day student and the only time when they did get to see , usually, was when he
Holding it to her face, she read out the line on it, worry lines popping out all over. \ "I don't get this. Is this some kind of joke?" She asked, examining the note in her hand. Curiously, she looked to the back of it but saw nothing of note there. Not even a squiggle or something. It was all empty and then it portrayed to her that the meaning was as vague and empty as the back of the note. It just did not add up, no matter how she looked at it. A ring from the dead father and then it had a note, something like a user instruction, speaking of power? Was this some kind of fairy tale where there was an inheritance of power passed from parents to children? She reasoned, she had read many fictional books but then she had not imagined that she would come across anything like this in her wildest dream. Master the power? Was what was written but it did not make sense. Master what power for what? What power could be kept in a ring like this? It did not even have the quality to be somet
For a moment or two, the room was silent. The only persistent sounds being Lekan's slow breathing and the confused panicked breaths for Blessing. It continued for s long as long as could be and if what happened had not happened, it would have been the most magical. However, a strange occurrence had happened, none of them could therefore sense the magic in the air It was alien to them, their minds pounding with all sorts of fear and thoughts. Lekan could just barely stabilize himself now. What he had seen, he could make no sense out of it. What was it? It was startling or maybe it was because of the fact that he had been mourning his parents. Perhaps, that had to be it for he could not understand what that visage was. Blessing would never slap him so then why was that? He did not want to think that there was really anything that was beyond the physical in the room. He did not even want to think that way because he was not sure. But still, he could not just override the thought t
"What….. You think you can just come and hug me to death…" Lekan winked. "Hell, no, I will tickle you to the beyond. Muhhahahahah!" Blessing laughed. A cheery one. Then pushed and kicked. Lekan followed, using his hands to wedge off her legs in an attempt to gain on her. A wild smile on his face as he worked with his hands. The issues of the time before totally forgotten. At least, for now. "Okay, okay... stop, stoppppp..." Blessing laughed, shaking her arms and her legs in a fit of laughter. Lekan did ease up now as he saw how she vibrated. He leaned backwards and she jerked then, shaking her head as she kept on laughing. "No... no... hahahah... " Blessing laughed. "Stoppppp." "I didn't do anything now, did I?" Lekan replied with an ear to ear grin on his face. "I was only leaving you alone." He laughed at her. "who knew you're such a scaredy cat?" "Heheh... it's not that!" Blessing disagreed. She hugged her legs with a coy smile on her face. "Its just... I don't trust you,
The gate to house opened just then as a man wearing ashgray trousers, black sneakers and a white vest stepped in. The gate was black and towering, having a fence topped by electric wiring with a notification that read 'stay away; high voltage' His hair was short, black in color and seemed to be a bit dishevelled at the moment. Opening the pedestrian door a bit longer now, a lady wearing some skimpy gown of yellow stepped in, wearing an amused smile on her face. She had cornrows on her head, the color being black and yellow. She had her complexion to be tanned and a mole just below her left eye. The gown which she had on was spaghetti in style, two crossing strands of material which looped at back of her neck and then a set of those material threads looping at the back two. The length of the gown was just by her hips side and on her feet, she had high robed gladiator sandals of brown color, holding a purse of yellow close to her body with the left hand. She put a hand forward, that
"what's happening?" Dorothy said, looking back at him. "I'm coming... Just need to check on something " He said and then raced his way forward to where the sounds of sobbing were coming from. First things first, Desmond sighed to himself, he had to make sure that everything was alright. He was been worried about the one who he had to take into guidance now. While it was understandable that the boy had lost his parents and thus would be have fits such as this, he was really worried that he may have let that get to the person who had come in to visit. When he was leaving the house, earlier, he had been frustrated. It was not too long since he had to leave his own house and his own life to come here, in the status of a guardian to the son of his late brother. It was not long enough and so, it was normal that people would be watching him. After all, he had been the brother who had not been seen around the family since the time that his brother had decided to cut ties with him. Based o
Lekan whistled as he moved from the ironing table to the wardrobe now. It was just some hours since Blessing had left. Actually, it was another another day, although with the difference of not more than 12 hours in between. Compared to other times, his mood was improved now. He moved to the wardrobe and whistled, putting a finger to his lips as he paused, trying to remember what he had wanted to get in the first place. Shirtless with only a pair of trousers, black on his lower half, Lekan nodded his head harmoniously to the rhythm of the music booming out from the mini music player speaker which was on the table. As if lit by inspiration, he opened the two doors of the wardrobe and then pulled out a shirt from the one with the hanger compartment. He held the shirt and then looked at the vintage styled design of it for a few moments. And after he was done with the observation, his head still nodding to the boom of music, he tossed it to the Queen Sized bed which was behind him. After
“Ha!” The girl in the black jumpsuit roared as her feet bounced off the ground. Landing a few steps to the right, she smiled, her white skin reflecting the light and warmth. It revealed the radiance in the heart of this young girl. She held her two hands in front of her. Her blonde hair wafting softly from side to side even as the wind teased it. Her feet were placed, the right in front while the left was placed behind it. Just a little bit. “How long do you think you can really hold out against me? I am the Queen of the Combat Facility.” She smirked. The person whom she was speaking to frowned, his bushy eyebrows knitting closely at his forehead. He breathed hard, fisting his hands as he stared daggers at her, unmoving while his eyes loooked left and right. The place where the two combatants stood was one of a kind. It was a circular platform which had just three pillars at adjacent ends. The ground was lined with circular carvings. And right at the center of it was the insig
