“Ha!” The girl in the black jumpsuit roared as her feet bounced off the ground.
Landing a few steps to the right, she smiled, her white skin reflecting the light and warmth. It revealed the radiance in the heart of this young girl.
She held her two hands in front of her. Her blonde hair wafting softly from side to side even as the wind teased it. Her feet were placed, the right in front while the left was placed behind it. Just a little bit.
“How long do you think you can really hold out against me? I am the Queen of the Combat Facility.” She smirked.
The person whom she was speaking to frowned, his bushy eyebrows knitting closely at his forehead. He breathed hard, fisting his hands as he stared daggers at her, unmoving while his eyes loooked left and right.
The place where the two combatants stood was one of a kind. It was a circular platform which had just three pillars at adjacent ends.
The ground was lined with circular carvings. And right at the center of it was the insignia of a robotic face, along with the words ‘System Burea’.
The System Bureau was home to the two combatants. They had been taken away from their usual earthly lives, out here, to be trained. They were for the testing of the numerous inventions the Bureau had come up with. Inventions which could change the world and the way humans saw it. Inventions which tapped into the ancient magic of the Warth, modifying and recreating it to be subservient and useful to the modern needs of human.
It was an age of technological advancement. And the System Bureau? They did not waste a moment of it. They advanced with as many of the inventions they could make.
But as such, they always needed to push those who had to rest them, making sure that the systems were truly at the peak of the hierachy.
And right now, the two of them in the ring while others around watched, were fulfilling that.
The young boy who was facing off the white girl had Latino features. He had a shaved head, a little mouth ache and a grieved face. His hands knuckles and unknuckled at his side while he kept on staring daggers.
Today was an important day to him. Today, he was going to prove himself better than the girl opposite him. The only girl in the entire ring who had bested everyone even with their systems.
The Only girl who did not even use her system. She did not activate it once but yet she had taken down all the people who had come at her.
He was her final opponent. But biting down on his lower lip, he resolved, he would not go down that easily.
“Leslie, this is the end for you, Mako, I demand you surrender to me.”
“Surrender?” Leslie smiled to him, showing off her brilliant white dentition. “You think that’s what the law of this contest means? It doesn’t mean I have to go down without a fight or are you already scared that all you sustem holders are simply pussies?” She lashed to him.
“Language, Leslie.” A man by the edge of the ring roared out. He had a white and black uniform which singled him out as the umpire of the match.
Stepping on to the ring, he heaved out, his fat features not allowing him move as much as he wanted.
He dipped his hand into the he front pocket, pulling out a yellow card. Whipping out to the face of Leslie, the entire crowd groaned out.
“Leslie is being flagged for her language. If she persists then, she would have to forfeit the match in favor of Mako.”
“What?” Leslie frowned. “Since when was that the new rule here? Come on, you’re letting Mako take this easy eh?”
“Ha! Where’s all that your attitude girl? Don’t tell me you’re a scared of cards now?” Mako scoffed to her.
“The only thing I am scared of is me beating you till you are in the ICU.” Leslie shoved a quick middle finger to him.
To that, Mako simply smiled to her. A dismissive one. With his right hand held in front of his face, he gestured to her with his left hand, calling her to him.
“Fine! You asked for it!” Leslie roared out.
The umpire panicked, scrambling out of the way just as Leslie limbs pounded on the ground. In a flash, she had crossed the little distance between herself and the opponent, her legs propelling her further.
She paused briefly while Mako grimaced, stretching his right hand towards her. Time seemed to slow down, light sparks fluttering In the air just around Makos fist.
Leslie bounced off the ground, her right leg forming a triangle with the left one while her upper torso stretched forward. Her right hand bearing down a fist.
At the same moment, sparks of light flashed out and a wave of fire roared out from Makos hand. In a blitzing second later, the roar of flames thundered out, for the feet of Leslie.
However, just about then, Leslie folded her right leg even further. Moments away from the fire blazing into her exposed left leg, it crumpled, bringing a swift bend from the side.
THWACK!
Her leg smashed into his face, propelling the opponent backwards and flickering off the flames of fire.
“Aww!” Mako cried out as his back kissed the ground.
His hands to the sides of him rocked the ground as well even as his body jerked off the ground, going in for a rebound. At the same moment, Leslie landed to the ground, her left foot smashing down to his neck.
“Ahhhh!” Mami coughed out.
He kicked out his legs, using that energy to propel his entire form upwards. Jerking upwards, the whole form of him followed, pushing off Leslie leg from him. He went into a somersault.
But just as he landed, Leslie foot was there. Kissing him right in the center of his stomach.
“Ooomph!” He bucked backwards, holding his stomach and grimacing.
As if that was not enough, Leslie smirked dangerously, running forward. Once she was in inches reach, she smashed her knee right into his jaw.
Mako groaned, his head following on the momentum from the kick. But even as that occurred, another fist rammed into his belly, shooting him across the ring. And down for the ground.
“Mmmhhp!” Mako groaned, wordlessly as he lay sprawled on the ground.
“I told you. You asked for it.” Leslie frowned to him. She shook her head, bowing to the crowd as they began to clap for her.
“And this bout goes to Leslie, if she would have used her system.” The Umpire called out. “Unfortunately, she did not. Which calls this whole combat a draw.” He added.
“What?” Leslie cried out, jerking towards him.
The onlookers down below the ring also cried out in disagreement to the Umpire’s decision. It was unfair. The rules of the game were either a knockout, or a push off the ring or surrender. But those terms had to come by using the system. If by any means that it happens, then it was not a win.
However in the case of Leslie, things were different. She was not just any of system holder. She had something that was special.
And special meant it was harder to use. At least, for her.
“What? You really can’t be serious? How can you call off my win? He’s knocked out! He can’t stand back up. Can’t you see?” Leslie frowned, stomping to the umpire while gesturing tot he fallen form of Mako, her teeth bared out.
The umpire shook his head, his eyes closed.
“You know the rules, And if the rules have being bent for you since the start of the contest, you suurely did not think it was going to be bent for you at the last deciding match, did you?” The umpire said, folding his hands, his eyes still closed.
“No! You look at me!” Leslie thundered out, grabbing him by the collar.
Alarmed, the umpires eyes fired open as he gasped. In his front was an angry girl, her eyes glittering as purple tattoos began to appear, growing all over them.
“Does this look like something I can control, you fool? Maybe you want me to go all tattoo on your ass and burn you to crisp? Is that what you want, huh?” She spat into his face.
“Wheeehh…” The umpire whimpered, putting both hands in the air in surrender.
This was not part of his job. He did not sign up to be beat up or be threatened by someone with a system people feared.
“Now, you tell this people that the decision was not final and I am the winner.” Leslie pouted, pushing her terrifying gaze into the his face.
“LESLIE!!” A voice boomed out from behind. At the sound of this, multiple murmurings began to resonate all around, the sound of people hurrying away breaking through Leslie’s rage.
That voice… she could not be mistaken. It belonged to one of the most annoying person in the entire Academy.
Or at least, the voice of someone who could frame just anybody in an instant and have the System Bureau swallow it.
Hook, line and sinker.
She certainly wanted to avoid him at all cost.
“Professor Bumju.” Leslie rolled her eyes, letting go of the umpire as she turned around slowly. “What trouble have you gotten me in, today?” She growled.
Prof BumJu. Let’s hit things up with a side plot, shall we?
The taxi screeched to a halt in front of the campus of the school and Lekan heaved. It was a relief that he could actually get fresh air to breathe, fresh air which was not the same air that his Uncle Desmond would be breathing. He felt a strange rush of emotions well up in his body just then, as the Uber driver looked back to him and then informed him about their ride destination being reached. For a moment or two, he did not answer, neither did he move. He just stared up ahead, looking at the Uber driver who wore a blue baseball cap, white vest and black jeans. There was an aroma of scented mints in the car and the air conditioning was doing a good job in delivering the extra chill in the air to it/. Lekan took in an inhalation of air, allowing the mint scented air to settle against his lungs. It was refreshing in a way, he wanted to stay but then again, he could not stay. He had come down here because he had something which he wanted to do. And also because of the fact that being
Too much of everything is bad! Even attention. As Leslie jumped down from the fighting ring, her expression squeezed up immediately. She did not like the face of Professor BumJu, nor did anyone like the fact that he was around. He had the taste of bad moods and bad everything else. And she was naturally good. Too good he did not seem to leave her alone. Shaking her head, showing her face, she looked up to the giant features of Prof Bumju. Just like her, he was a full white man, his curly brown hair pressed down on his head as he pocketed. “You know, you don't have to give me that hated look.” He scoffed, looking to the ground. “Of course. If only everyone liked you, then I would do that.” Leslie smiled at him, only to turn to the other side with a frown. “Hm!’ Prof BumJu stopped now. He looked at her, letting a small smile break through his face. “I like you. You are feisty.” “And I don't like it. Why can't you just leave me alone?” She said to him, pouting at his face.
Seeing this, the man did not waste time now. He simply huffed and then brought his foot down on the head of Lekan, smashing his jaw into the hard concrete ground. Blood splattered about just then as teeth from the inner dentition rolled out to the ground. Lekan saw stars. Or the equivalent of them. With shut eyes, light twinkling against the blank that pulled up in his mind's eye. The pain rammed against his body, setting him ablaze with several emotions running rampant. His life flashed before his eyes now. Gritting, the pain mercilessly tore through his body like a beast on a prowl. His life flashed before his eyes in the fleeting moment, the fear of death stinging viciously in his mind. Lekan pondered on just how it was going to play out. Like it was general knowledge, those who got to be labeled as thieves did not often get to live for long. At least, not when the mob was allowed to do what they wanted to do. The rare cases where the mob did not get the upper hand was whe
It is good to be rich. Oh, very good. The sound in the SUV was of a different note. The speakers in it were of high quality. It left desmon in awe of the fact that he hadn't really been living the life back then. Yes, he had a car, an old fashioned model . But compared to the black SUV he was riding in, there was a whole different experience. And he loved it. In hindsight, this was only possible because of the death of his brother. And while that had hurt him initially, the fact that he was named the Guardian of the son had left his heart in gladness. It meant that the could also have a taste of the good things that his brother enjoy.d The only thing in his way of enjoying that in totality was the brat of a son which he had. The son would not be a problem. AT least, not after today. Desmond heaved out, whistling the song which w*s being played. WIth his hands on the steering, he rocked his sunshades even though he w* snot out in the sun. It Was going to be a good day today a
Lekan's head bounced back just now, his eyes flashing as stars revolved about his head now. The pain screeched at the back of his head for what seemed to be centuries. His vision disoriented, his sense of balance tipped off, all he could feel was pain. Intense pain. And regrets. If only he did not honor the invitation that was extended to him by Blessing. His heart cursed at him. He was too weak. Feeble minded. He let a girl pull him out. Now, he was stuck in here. In the beat down of his life. He should not have come. He should have stayed put. Now, was the death that he escaped in his parents car now coming back to him? "Thief!" The man yelled out now. He pulled back his fist, thick strands of blood sticking to the knuckles. Blood that came from his victim, the boy on the ground. Lekan. But he did not care. Not in the slightest bit. His mind was shut off, his heart intent on securing the mission target on which he was drafted to complete. It didn't matter how much blo
Whoever said waiting was a nice venture? The school bell rang out now, signifying the end of the normal class activities for those who had normal classes. Or at least, it was the significance of the end of the school hours now. The visitors or those who had come to pick their wards could not move towards the school blocks for the business which they had come for. Or at least, those who wanted to get to the teacher's room could do so now. It brought to the visors at the waiting tent a breath of fresh air. This was a sign. The sign. The sign that they could finally get over seating on the metallic chair for the long period of time that they had been here. It was not a pleasant endeavor, after all. However, that did not expressly mean that those who still had papers could be reached now. The rule of the school did not allow for that as examination malpractice could still be carried out in such a way. The closing bell was only for those of the students who did not have pape
"Oops!" Was all Lekan could say as the soft mass of flesh and boobies plastered into his face. He could hardly breathe but then he did not want to complain even as Blessing hugged his head, the whole scenery looking like a lost waifu who had just found her hubby after a long time. And on top of it, Lekan found himself to be enjoying the whole hug. Blessing shifted a bit now and the boobies bounced in his face, rubbing his nose, a mesmerizing feeling shooting all over him. From the corner of his eyes, he could catch the stink eye the bully was shooting at him. Literally everyone was giving him the stink eye, if he was being honest about the whole thing. And because of that, the whole thing began to look awkward, being that they were in the school environment on top of it. Blessing must have thought the same thing as she disengaged the hug just then, pulling off with an awkward smile on her face now, her hands clasped behind her even as she played with her fingers. After a bit of
With gentle knocks, the white skinned girl with the gingerly attitude knocked against the white metallic door. She held her breath, waiting for a response while she tapped her feet in impatience. She was Leslie and just about some moments ago,she had had a discussion with the Grand Inquisitor. He had been asking her to get some dirt on a certain human boy somewhere in Nigeria. It was her first time. The first time that he would have to ask her for something like that. And if she had to hazard a guess, she knew it would most likely be because the Bureau was interested in this boy. That Was why they wanted her to be the one who kept tabs on him. But she… She wasn't really vested in it. More so, being that the mission ahd come from everyone’s least favorite person, it had rubbed off wrongly on her. Even if it had come out like some innocent mission, she could not help but shudder in the fera that this was the Inquisitor's attempt at trying to get some dirt on her too. What if this
