Hoho. Introducing many key players in the system bureau here. Lets see how this leads for us. Multiple chap upload today. Stay calm.
To fight or to flee? Blessing was confused; she remained still, her heart in her mouth. Her pupils dilated, watching the exchange between the two men with bated breaths. She pondered over the choice she made in her head. Neither of them was based on flight or fight. Indeed, if she was to run off, then how was it possible to outrun the man here. The man whom the pilot had acknowledged as the speed demon? How was it possible to get out of his range faster than he could come on her. She could try to sneak off, that was given. She could try that and hope that it would sit well for her. That is, while the two of them were engaging in their conversations, she could hope to sneak away. Undetected. But that was a wild bargain. And the chances of success with that was near negligible. It was far better not to take any risks in this circumstance. After all, what did she know of tenterrain in this place? She was only new here. The best bet that she had was the pilot. That is, if the pilot
The slight brightened, revealing some more of the environment that they were. She was right, blessing sighed. The place was high tech. It was something she would see in the movies. Something of which they would have some sort of secret research going on. This was yet the same place she was in.She squinted as her eyes took in the sights. Her lips parted in excitement mixed with large swathes of curiosity as she turned around. The conversations they held were no longer important to her.The walls were metallic. The light flashed about continuously. More like flickering every now and then. The strong smell of disinfectant in the air was nauseating yet welcoming in some strange way. The air conditioning in this place was working top notch. Standing still for so long almost froze her to the bones.“Wow!” She muttered. While she was right about the place that they were in, the other guess was wrong. This was not just some corridor of sorts. It was rather a wide spacious hall. The walls ar
WANNNNNN!!! WANNNNNNNNNNNN!! “This is not a drill. Everyone out. We are under status emergency. Everyone out!” BEEP! Beeepp!!! “Ugh…” Blessing groaned as she raised her head from the pillow. With another groan, she lifted her body, grudgingly. Her bare feet slapped against the ground as cognition came into her eyes. With one hand against her head, she blinked, noting the red light flashing from the square ceilings up above. “Ah. What now?” She cursed. “This is not a drill. Everyone in the bunkers is advised to evacuate immediately. This is status emergency.” The urgency of the voice overhead blared out consciousness into Blessing. Her eyes widened instantly as she jumped right up. No more was she groaning for more sleep. At least, not when she had almost been killed in an airborne battle the previous day. At least, today, they had taken the luxury to inform them that they were under attack rather than having them figure things out. She looked to her left, seeing the sigh
Ass hat? Blessing pondered on those words as she took her seat right beside the taunting figure of Tabitha. Tabitha laughed, softly, using her hands to cover her mouth as she nudged at her with her foot. Blessing narrowed her eyes at this. But chose to ignore this action from her. THere was only so much that she knew about it. But what she did not enjoy was this annoying action from Tabitha. It didn't matter who she was. However, being that he was new, there was only so little that he could do. Escape to pay her no attention and focus on what they were doing in here. The backstage walls had been cased in velvet curtains. Thick, the type they used in the operas. The pulpit which was placed centerstage, had some microphones in them. It was built in such a way that preachers would appreciate it as it contained an arm rest by the sides. Very flexible for whoever it was that would use it. The whole scenery here reminded her of her schooling back in Lagos. Back in Lagos Nigeria.
“The Bureau is what you can call something secret but nothing secret. We exist and yet do not exist. It is a complex issue that you would not bother to understand lest you come into some confusion. Heck, i know what i am saying is enough to confuse you already.'' Dayo laughed shortly. “Of course, It is.You want to epxlain this shot to her or you want to fry her brains?” Tabitha shouted from her seat, sticking a thumbs down to him. ---------------This action solidified the idea that this whole setup was just for her. This was her orientation since the others in here had already known everything that they had to know about the bureau. However, it touched Blessing in some way. To think that the annoying girl would want to care about her. “Hey,don't get any ideas in your head.” Tabitha turned to her. ”I just want to get out of here on time.” She said, “Oh!” Blessing sighed, realizing the truth of the matter. She only did that so they could be discharged on time. “Please, mind
"No. No. That is not what I am saying. Please. Do not misunderstand the simple point I am trying to pass." The man in the two piece black suit sweater furiously. He leaned back in his swivel chair, his fingers snapping shut and clicking the pen release continuously as he spoke. From the looks of things, he seemed to be having a rather hard time in convincing whoever it was he was speaking with. He inhaled, trying a qpick 360 in his chair. Behind him were the glass window walls. It showed the sights of a rising sun and some morning birds chirping here and there. To the casual observer, this miater was winging it great in his office. However, to the man on the chair, an entire scene was playing out. One which he did not follow. He hated it here. At least, he hated it whenever the head of the board hiked him straight. Ranting in and on about how much they were losing stocks. Like that was on him. He only had one goal. Crack the secrets of the Bureau and come into the promised
“Oh ho!” Dembe laughed, shaking a finger at the French man with his eyes dilating. “You are spoiling for a fight, are you not?” He scoffed. “Typical entitled bastard.” “Mhm. Demas thoughtfully observed him, a smile over his left side of the face. “And as expected, you have been nothing more than just an empty barrel.”Provocatively, he leaned forward, placing his hands on the table in which he sat. “And as we all know, empty barrels make the loudest noise.” “You talk cheap.” Dembe snarled at him.WHOOOM! Cold chills descended in the room. The Air conditioning seemed way too ineffective compared to this as mini gusts of spontaneous wind gales erupted here and there. Furniture shifted over the place, the glass table shattering into pieces.“Eternal Time coffin!” Demas calmly mouthed.DING!A large ethereal clock appeared behind him. With golden hands and a bronze surface, each hour tick having the color of silver. “Chronostasis.” Demas chanted. Dembe's eyes widened at this. He leap
“Ha!” Blessing gasped. The whole landscape was overtaken by a mix of several exploding debris. The earth shook here as people quivered, falling to the ground. Explosions rocked the surface, drilling tension in their already sweaty bodies. Blessing gasped for breath as she looked about. For a split second, she paused, her entire self freezing. She was at the Buteau, was she not? How did she come out here? And worse, what was happening? This looked like world war three was taking place now. And she was thrown right in the middle of the conflict. “Ha!” She gasped for breath. The next second, her feet lost bearing. Her entire frame toppled over as a shell rocked the ground some meters away. The swiftness at which her face slammed into the uneven tarred road. Or what was once a tarred road jarred her. Her body spasmed instantly. Her ears rung, her sense of bearing stunned for a while. The pain in her head rammed hard, destabilizing every attempt of her in trying to rise. “Ahhh!
