Outside the conference center, the early evening air was crisp, carrying the faint scent of rain.

Miley hugged herself against the breeze as they waited near Julius's car. His security team moved efficiently around them, coordinating, reporting, clearing the path for them to leave. Yet Julius stayed by Miley’s side, not more than a step away, his posture protective without being overbearing.

"You cold?" he asked casually, glancing at her from the corner of his eye.

"A little," Miley admitted.

Without a word, Julius shrugged off his jacket and draped it around her shoulders. The fabric was still warm from his body, and it swallowed her frame, but she didn’t have it in her to protest. She looked up at him, surprised by the simple gesture.

"Thanks," she said quietly.

He grunted a little, stuffing his hands into his trouser pockets. "You can thank me later. Preferably after you stop looking like you’re about to collapse."

Miley chuckled under her breath. "I’m fine, really."

"Take my blood!" Julius shouted. "My blood type is the same as Grandpa's!" Doctors and nurses rushed around him, their faces filled with worry. "Mr. Julius , donating 1200 ml is extremely dangerous. Under normal circumstances, blood donation is limited to 200–400 milliliters. The amount you are planning to donate has far exceeded the safe range. You could risk losing your life because of it!" A nurse warned, "We can't—" "I can!" Julius's voice was firm. The nurses exchanged worried glances before beginning the procedure. Julius barely flinched when the needle pierced his vein, his gaze fixed on the unconscious form of his wife's grandfather. The man who had saved his life years ago, who had taken him in when he was nothing more than a broken warrior, and who had given him a family he'd never had. "You’re pushing your body." One nurse warned, concern evident in her voice, “You may experience severe dizziness, weakness—" "I don't care," Julius interrupted, his l

Julius lay on the hospital bed, his arm outstretched as the blood slowly drained out of him, drop by precious drop. His wife was sitting in a chair next to him like a vulture waiting for the last breath of a dying animal. “Nurse!” Quella snapped, “Why is it taking so long? Can't you hurry up the process, Kenny is still so pale.” The nurse checked Julius’ condition, and her panic rose. “We have already drawn 300ml more than the critical limit, and if we take any more, his health will be—” “Oh, please! I didn't ask for your advice. Julius was a soldier before, so his body can tolerate it. He is not made of glass that would shatter, so just do what I say!” She turned to him, shooting daggers. “Don't just lie there like a statue, you pig! Tell her that you can give more! Kenny needs it.” As if Kenneth ever not needed anything! He whispered remembering his childhood. Kenneth was the golden child, the one who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, while he was only given

As Julius's body gradually succumbed to the darkness, his pulse grew weaker and weaker, its frequency almost disappearing into the void. After the two individuals left, the nurse on her rounds pushed open the door and immediately noticed something was wrong with Julius. She quickly shouted and had him rushed to the resuscitation room. In the resuscitation room, the doctors surrounded Julius, various instruments (emitting urgent beeps), and they performed rescue measures with lightning speed: chest compressions, defibrillation, a series of operations carried out smoothly. However, Julius's heart rate was like a meteor falling from the sky, rapidly sliding towards zero. The doctor's forehead was covered with fine beads of sweat, and the nurse beside him was also busy handing over various instruments. But when the doctor was about to give the blood transfusion order, he was told that the hospital did not have enough blood in stock at the moment. Everyone's heart instantly s

Julius was shocked after hearing the name, Kenneth Colton!? How the hell did that happen? There was something fishy, he quickly scanned everyone's faces to see any sign of surprise, but nobody was going to say anything. To them, Kenneth was a hero! A kind hearted man who was ready to do anything for anyone, while Julius was just a loser. A wounded mule wasn't even good for carrying weight. But unlike everyone else, Mr. Gracia had never trusted Kenneth even for a second! However, before he could have objected, Quella sneered. “What do you think you are looking at, you mutt? Do you really think that my Grandfather would never come back to his senses and you could keep fooling him forever! No! After Kenneth donated his blood to him, he must have realized the difference between a fox and a lion!” “What the hell are you saying Quella? How can grandpa change his Will inside the operation theatre? And you're forgetting one thing: he is not Mr. Garcia’s grandson-in-law! I am! Because

  • Blood Thirst: God of War   I found you

"I finally found you, Julius.”His sharp gaze landed on the woman who had spoken, still holding her umbrella over his head. Her smooth tan skin was glowing and her long, dark hair was pulled back into a sleek ponytail. A brown trench coat was draped over a silk dress, far too elegant for this part of town. Clearly, she didn’t belong here. “Excuse me, but how—” This was the moment he met her black eyes, and his question shifted instantly. “Have we met before?” The woman’s lips lifted into a radiant smile. “I knew you would recognize me! I don't know if you still remember it, but you saved me on the battlefield once. I never got to hear your name, but I heard them call you the Julius.” Julius stared at her, as his mind tried to sift through the memories. “I’ve been searching for you for seven years. I know it’s a long shot, but I wanted to find you, and repay the kindness you showed me. Will you come with me?” Julius let out a chuckle, mocking himself while gesturing at

The air in the banquet hall shifted the moment the heavy oak doors slammed open. A group of tall, muscular men strode in, their presence like a pack of hyenas barging into a lion’s den… except they clearly thought they were the lions here. The guests stiffened, instinctively pulling back as the uninvited newcomers spread out, their smirks full of arrogance and malice. Miley’s father rose to his feet, his face paling. "Who are you people? What do you want?" The man in front chuckled, cracking his knuckles. "Relax, old man. No need to be so jumpy." His voice was as slick as oil, his grin revealing gold-capped teeth. "We're just here to collect what’s ours." He gestured lazily to his men, all dressed in black, their beady eyes scanning the room like vultures sizing up a dying carcass. "Y-You’re from the ‘Eighteen Street’ gang?" Miley’s mother gasped, clutching her husband's sleeve. "Sharp lady," the leader smirked. "Since you already know who we are, let's not waste time. Your

The gang leader was sprawled across the table, coughing and gasping, struggling to get some air. Julius had loosened his grip, but hadn't let go completely. The leader's men stood frozen in their places, their eyes jumping like ping-pong balls between their boss, and the man who had single-handedly brought them to their knees, without even breaking a sweat. The leader's trembling hand clutched at the edge of the table as he tried to regain his composure. The terror in his eyes was visible, despite all his attempts. “Who the hell are you?” he rasped. Julius didn’t answer immediately. He didn’t need to. Instead, he reached into his pocket, pulled out a small metallic ring, and placed it on the table in front of the gang leader. The moment the leader's eyes landed on it, all color drained from his face. His body stiffened as if he had been turned to stone. His lips parted, but no words came out. Instead, his breathing grew rapid and uneven, like a cornered rat realizing the c

  • Blood Thirst: God of War   The Invitation

Both Julius and Quella stood there in silence for a few moments, the tension was thick enough to choke on. They had found a relatively deserted corner of the mansion, out of everyone's sight and earshot. Quella was standing with her arms crossed; with the same, cold arrogance she always carried around him. So she got straight to the point. “Where’s the signed divorce agreement, I know you have already received it, so don't try to lie.” Julius pulled a folded document from his coat pocket and handed it to her without any hesitation. Quella looked at his face to spot any reluctance or sadness, but she didn't find any trace of emotion there. He was behaving like this was a business transaction, and nothing more.Shaking her head to get rid of any nagging doubts, she unfolded the document, and found his neat signature at the bottom. Her lips lifted into a smirk. “Get out of my sight. You will pay for your betrayal, but not now.”His voice was so calm that Quella felt momentarily

The stunned silence broke when one of the attackers roared in anger and charged at Miley, his palm raised to strike her across the face, with the complete intention of slapping her hard, for the daring she was showing in front of them.Miley instinctively flinched, her arms raising to shield herself. But the slap never landed, and how could it, because in the blink of an eye, Julius was there. His eyes blazed with fury as he tightened his hold, forcing the man to his knees with a sickening crack."You think you can touch her even in your wildest dreams?" Julius growled, his voice low and lethal.“ Do you really think that no one is standing behind her, do you really assume that she is all alone by herself, or do you really think you could imagine hurting her, without even knowing who actually holds her back?”With a sharp flick, he threw the man’s arm back, sending him crashing into a line of chairs. • Iron rod

The Lawrence Hall, which was supposed to be buzzing with celebration and ideas, had turned into a warzone. The grand banners of the Female Entrepreneurs’ Summit fluttered weakly under the whirring air vents, their messages of empowerment and progress now bitterly ironic. Armed men patrolled the marbled floor like vultures circling prey, while nearly forty women, all bound and gathered like cattle, sat along the marbled floor under the barrels of loaded rifles. The air was thick with fear, and the scent of sweat and expensive perfume mingled into something nauseating.Every male security guard and staff member had been dealt with already, and now lay unconscious by the exits and staircases. The attackers; twenty-five masked men, all armed and speaking in clipped, foreign accents, had taken full control.Their movements were sharp, mechanical, and practiced. This wasn’t random, or a coincidence. The ambush was planned from start to finish. That much was clear, but their agenda was

  • Stand by!

Since the moment Miley had kissed Julius on his birthday, something had shifted—and not just between them. The tension that once simmered beneath the surface had burst open like a dam, and now, in its place, there was complete silence. A week had gone by, and Miley had skillfully managed to dodge every attempt made by Julius to talk, meet, or even casually bump into her. At first, Julius tried to be patient. He reasoned with himself that she might need space—that maybe the kiss had been impulsive and she regretted it. But by the seventh morning, he was done playing the fool. So when he saw her strolling into the hallway in her satin night suit, arms raised in a lazy stretch, her hair tousled from sleep and a faint yawn escaping her lips, he decided it was time. She froze mid-step when she noticed him standing there, arms crossed, leaning casually against the wall. Julius didn’t say anything at first. He just stared. Miley blinked at him and frowned, trying to walk past him, but aft

  • Happy Birthday

Julius had barely taken a moment to catch his breath, when the sound of footsteps alerted him to the presence of someone. However, before he could get panicked and act, he realized it wasn't more goons, but just the guests who had gathered around the corridor after hearing the commotion, their murmurs rising with every second. The sight of two groaning men on the floor and Julius standing over them like a storm personified was something none of them had expected at a birthday party.Someone had just given Miley a hand; and now, she was standing to the side, visibly shaken, her arms crossed tightly over her chest as if trying to hold herself together. Her hair was disheveled, her cheek slightly bruised where she had fallen earlier. Julius turned toward her, concern written all over his face, but before he could reach her, Laura’s shrill voice cut through the tension.“And who exactly is this girl? And what sort of company does she keep, I wonder? Any decent woman would know better t

  • Unreasonable

“You’ve always been uneducated, classless, and an idiot!” Quella shrieked, her voice cracking with fury. “But you’ve truly lost all shame today, Julius!”The ballroom had quieted once more, heads turning toward the escalating chaos between Julius and his former wife. Laura was still on the floor, wincing and trying to gather herself, while Quella stood firm—her voice the only thing piercing the heavy air.“How dare you push my mother-in-law like that!” she screamed, flinging a hand toward Laura. “Has that girl really done some kind of magic on you? You’ve completely lost your consciousness!”Julius didn’t even look at her. His eyes scanned the crowd, desperate and unfocused. He had only one thought now—Where is Miley?“Oh, I see what this is!” Quella sneered. “That’s why you’re after Kenneth, isn’t it? You think that if you send him to jail, I’ll come crying into your arms?”She laughed, bitter and mocking. “Grow up, Julius! Who even thinks like that? Teenagers? Children? You really t

The slap echoed through the grand ballroom like a gunshot.Quella staggered back, clutching her cheek. Her eyes widened in disbelief, then turned red as tears welled up in them, stinging her eyes. Her face stung from the unexpected blow, the sharp imprint of fingers still burning across her skin. First came the shock of being hit, then the pain of the impact. And finally, hot, white anger.“What the hell? Who are you?” she shrieked, voice shrill with fury. “Fucking slut! Do you even know who I am? Thriving on my leftovers, really?”Miley didn’t flinch. Her hand was steady, her posture poised. But the glint in her eye was cold steel. A smirk curled her lips as she said, “I think Mrs. Sorren gave the perfect description of you—lying, cheating, a whore who isn’t worth anyone’s trust. But let’s leave that aside for now.”She leaned in, voice cutting like ice. “Do you know who I am?”Quella scoffed, still clutching her face. “Yeah, yeah,” she spat, rolling her eyes. “You must be flexing y

The party was in full swing, and the conversations were blossoming in every corner, as the guests were enjoying themselves with food, wine, and excellent company. Suddenly, the doors burst open. Two women stormed inside, their eyes wild with fury, hair frizzed from the wind. Behind them, two guards rushed in, panting and flustered.“Ma’am, please!” One of them called, trying to catch up. “You can’t just—”But they didn’t listen, just like they had been ignoring them all along. “Sir…!”The guard turned toward Julius, flustered, “These women claim to be your relatives. They refused to wait at the gate—”Duke glanced at Julius for direction. The God of War gave a single cold nod. The guards hesitated, then stepped back. And then, all hell broke loose. They turned on him so fast that Julius almost got whiplash from their reactions. “You ungrateful bastard!” Quella screamed, her voice rising above the music, silencing the chatter in a heartbeat. “You think you can humiliate Kenneth an

  • Surprise?

As Kenneth was dragged out of the room by the officers, still shouting half-formed threats and protests, Superintendent Covey turned to Julius with a tired but resolute expression.“Thank you, Officer Covey,” Julius said quietly, his voice earnest. But Covey shook his head. “No need for thanks. This is my job. Besides…” he added, eyes narrowing as he looked toward the exit Kenneth had just disappeared through, “brats like him—rich, spoiled ones—they often get out on bail before the ink even dries. But I’ll make sure he doesn’t escape for good. If we let him go, then what’s the point of law at all? Justice shouldn’t only apply to the poor.”Julius gave a silent nod, understanding the frustration in Covey’s voice. There were battles still to come. But for now, this one was over.---Miles away, Miley’s phone buzzed in her hand. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw Julius’s name flash across the screen.“Hello?” she answered quickly.“It’s over,” Julius said on the other end, his voice
