“Your Majesty.”
Elena noticed the troubled eyes of Carl.
She didn’t want to summon Carl tonight, but she didn’t like when things went out of control from her grasp. Even if she hated it, Elena knew her father’s words had some truth.
Even for her, Adam was a person who came into her life recently, but she trusted him. They shared a bond far stronger than others knew. Now everyone was questioning Adam’s loyalty. That was because everyone thought Adam was a warlord.
She wanted to confirm several things before the others questioned Adam. The banquet was long over, and Jane already found the recovery potion for Adam. It should have already been delivered to him. Most probably by tomorrow, he will be in good condition.
“Sigh.”Adam looked beyond the open window. It was still dark outside, but there was no point in staying on the bed anymore. He didn’t get any sleep. Over the past couple of days, he got used to his aching body. The rest was the best thing to heal himself, and he needed a good amount of sleep for that.He had a slight hope about the recovery potion, but until now, there were no visible effects. Even though the potion started a slight alteration to his damaged organs, it was not enough to relieve him from the pain. He desperately needed some sleep, but he couldn’t.‘How angry is she?’ He slowly sat on the bed.The do
‘Should I go to the morning Court?’Elena relaxed her head into the bed rest. She was not in a mood to go anywhere. She just washed her face and got back in the bed, waiting for her maids to bring her breakfast. Adam had ruined her mood to do anything, and there was barely any sleep last night. She felt bad about her actions, but she was not ready to let him go easily.Still, she felt bad remembering the look he had as she left.‘They have done well.’Elena came back to reality, as the scent of food caught her attention.“My lord, you can’t enter.”‘Lor
“Yes, Your Highness. I will answer as best I can.”He took another sip, giving a slight smile. His body was still uncomfortable, but he had to act as if he was here to speak the truth.‘I will tell the truth, as much as possible.’“Are you badly hurt?”‘What kind of question is this?’He was hurt to a point where he couldn’t even walk properly.“Yes, Your Highness.”“Then how are you recovering? Your meridians are even repairing themselves.”Adam knew the answer
‘Elena?’Jane halted her steps, looking at her younger sister. Elena didn’t even mind when she entered her room.Jane tried to find anything to say. Her little sister was like a teenager. She was lying on the bed, hugging a pillow. There was a smile as bright as a flower on her face. The playfulness of a happy girl replaced the elegance of the Empress. Something she had never seen before.‘I hope everything will be good for you.’She had a little envy in her heart. Jane understood Elena must have listened to it all.“What if someone tells me like that?” She wondered.Adam was not trying to impress anyone. He w
“Sister, are you sad?”“Shush…” Maya gently patted Ivan’s head.“Don’t talk, we have to be silent.”“To… To pay… Respect?”“Yes, to pay respect.” Her younger brother was still talkative.Even if Ivan was intelligent, he was too young to understand the sorrow she had. Even the stubborn village elders were here. These people died for them. This place was not very far from where they stayed for the past couple of days.‘The palace.’ That was what everyone called it. The large set of buildings in the centre of th
“Come on! Fight like men.”Jane shook her head. Carl looked aggressive since he came back. Witnessing the death of people they cared for would change many things. This method of training looked disorganised, but it made more sense compared to practising on their own. Other than focusing on their own weapon proficiency, fighting against the others gave them the experience they needed in a battle. Many of these people who were training were the people Adam brought to the Crimson Empire. Every time they stopped their journey, she witnessed those men training vigorously.“Yummy.” Jane smiled, hearing the satisfied voice of Amy.The little girl had already finished her training
“Wow!”This was the first time Adam saw the area people worked to clear. He had been to this place some time ago, but this was the first time he saw it like this. This was the area David had his camp earlier, but he never walked around here. Besides, the view was much different from the hilltop.Today he separated from Her Majesty and Amy, leading the main caravan to the area they were supposed to develop. Luckily, he convinced Amy that he would return by afternoon. If not for that, she would have made things difficult for him.The living conditions were not so good here, but they couldn’t let these people live in the West Coast city. That place was already too chaotic. They already received the news about the number of people trying to pry
“Young Adam, this way.”‘Huh? Why are they here?’ There were many people on the Palace grounds, but these people shouldn’t be here.“Lord Mason, Lord Zen.”He recognised them with ease, as his senses were better than ever.Still, he didn’t expect to see imperial officials here. It was already late afternoon, and the morning court shouldn’t last this long. Besides, it should have been almost midday by the time Her Majesty returned.‘Did they stay here because of all the guests?’He saw many unfamiliar people on the palace grounds. Many looked like guards or mercenaries. Some people were natives, but
