Chapter 11

"Excuse me, love," Brian replied, his voice soothing as he rose up. "I need to take this call. It may be one of the firms I applied to work with.

With a smile, Julie nodded, recognizing the urgency of the call. Brian moved out onto the balcony, away from prying eyes and ears, to ensure their chat remained private. The night air was chilly on his skin as he answered the call.

"Miss Anderson," Brian remarked, his tone controlled but strong. "I appreciate your call, but I must beg you not to contact me while I'm with my family. It's vital to retain secrecy at this point."

There was a delay on the other end of the telephone before Miss Anderson spoke, her voice filled with understanding. "I apologize, Mr. Stone. I didn't intend to disturb. Rest assured, I'll respect your privacy from now forward."

"Thank you," Brian said, his appreciation clear in his tone. "I'll be calling you from now henceforth, if you need anything, a text will do. Now what is going on? Is there a problem."
