Chapter 3

Brian glanced at the black premium platinum card, his thoughts reeling with astonishment. Ten billion dollars was an unfathomable figure.

His mind raced, and he couldn't help but wonder exactly how rich his grandpa actually was. If 10 billion was pocket money, then the amount of his fortune would be mind-boggling.

As he clutched the card, Brian's thoughts strayed to his parents, who had suffered terribly after being kicked out by his grandpa. The scars of the past still ran deep, and the thought of forgiveness seemed like an impossible wall.

Seeing the frown and uncertainty on Brian's face, James moved in and murmured quietly, "Brian, your grandpa is prepared to make apologies. He's willing to pass up all his holdings in Bucknor city to you. But if you're not ready for it, he's also giving you one of his enterprises in this Breston city to handle."

Brian's eyes widened in disbelief. Just hours earlier, he had been dealing with insults and disgrace from his in-laws, and now he was presented with a choice that might possibly alter the path of his life forever. The weight of the options before him was staggering.

"A full city? A company?" Brian murmured, struggling to absorb the immensity of what was being presented. "This is... I don't know what to say."

James nodded, his look compassionate. "Take your time, Brian. Your grandpa knows he has a lot to make up for, and he's giving you the freedom to select how you want to go ahead."

Brian grabbed the card closely, his heart burdened with mixed feelings.

James proceeded to share shocking news with Brian, his voice calm and measured. "Brian, your grandpa has already acquired a firm for you. It's named 'Elysian Enterprises.' The net value of the corporation is one trillion dollars, and it's registered under your name."

Brian's eyes expanded in absolute incredulity. One trillion dollars? The weight of this knowledge almost threw him off balance. "I... I don't understand this. It's beyond anything my imagination."

James dug into his pocket and brought out another card, this one displaying the logo of 'Elysian Enterprises.'

He gave it to Brian and said, "Take this card. It includes all the information you need. When you're ready to make a choice or if you need any help, contact me. My number is on the card too. Your grandfather is ready to give you all the time you need."

Brian nodded, still in a state of astonishment. He watched as James went back to his vehicle, started the engine, and drove off.

As the car faded into the distance, Brian remained outside the hospital, holding the card that held the key to a future he had never envisioned.

His mind was a tornado of ideas and feelings. The insults from his in-laws earlier in the day seemed like a distant memory, replaced with a deep sensation of amazement and bewilderment.

Brian realized that he had a major choice to make, one that would define not just his own life but also the future of his family and their connection with his rich and repentant grandfather.

Brian went back home in a trance, his head still whirling from the astonishing turn of events that had happened at the hospital. The busy city streets around him appeared to blur as he repeated his conversation with James in his head.

Meanwhile in the cozy but stressful environment of their family home, Mrs. Joy Davis, Julie's mother paced back and forth in the living room, a storm of anger brewing inside her.

"You married that loser, Julie! I can't believe you've dragged our family's name through the gutter," Mrs. Joy shouted, her voice harsh with rage.

Julie sat on the couch, her heart heavy with the weight of her mother's accusations. "Mom, please, he's not a loser. Brian is my husband. A great man."

Julie, attempting to keep back tears, added, "I love Brian, Mom. I don't regret marrying him."

Mrs. Joy, her anger increasing, proceeded to berate her daughter. "Love? Love won't pay the bills, Julie. Our status in the family's company is at a great danger due to your unwise decision."

Julie's eyes welled up with tears, her voice shaking as she defended her husband. "Brian is doing his best, Mom. He's working hard, and we're trying to make everything work."

"Julie, you've always been so stubborn. You'll regret this eventually."

In the middle of the hot argument with her mother, Julie's father, Mr. Thomas tried urging Julie to divorce Brian. He thought that Charles, a rich guy from Breston City who had tried courting Julie, was a more acceptable match.

Mr. Thomas, his voice hard but soft, urged, "Julie, please, for the sake of our family's future, simply divorce Brian. Charles is a wealthy businessman, and he can offer you a life of luxury."

Mrs. Joy, her fury seething, said, "Julie, we don't want to watch you suffer as I did. Charles sincerely cares about you, and he can provide you with a great life."

Julie, tears welling up in her eyes, firmly denied their pleas. "No, Mom, Dad. I won't divorce Brian. I love him, and I won't give up on our marriage. Money isn't everything."

Mr. Thomas groaned, knowing that this was going to be hard because his daughter was quite stubborn. "Julie, we only want what's best for you. Brian is a fine guy, but he can't offer you the life you deserve."

Mrs. Joy, annoyed with Julie's attitude, continued, "I'm trying to save you from the mistakes I made, Julie. Don't make the same errors I made."

But Julie stayed steadfast. "I appreciate your concern, but I won't leave the man I love. Brian and I will make it work together, no matter what."

Brian entered the home, and a heavy quiet settled over the room as everyone turned to gaze at him. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Joy, couldn't resist a sneer and an angry hiss. Brian groaned internally, used to her scornful insults.

He locked eyes with Mrs. Joy, contemplating how she would respond if she learned the truth - that he had lately become the owner of the greatest corporation in Breston City. But for now, he decided to keep this knowledge a well kept secret.

Taking a deep breath, Brian addressed the room, his tone remorseful. "I want to apologize to everyone for the way things transpired at the birthday party. It wasn't my aim to cause you shame."

Mrs. Joy, unable to control her anger, exploded in a second. "Apology? You embarrassed us in front of everyone, Brian! You're such a disgrace!"

Brian's jaw clenched, and he kept his cool, not wanting to exacerbate the issue. "I understand, Mrs. Joy. I promise it won't happen again.

After the conversation, Julie reached out and clasped Brian's hand, a soothing gesture that spoke volumes. They each withdrew to their room to decompress and enjoy the little peace they could get.

Later, as they lay in bed, fresh from their showers, Julie looked to Brian, her eyes filled with worry. "Brian, how is Mrs. Violet? I've been concerned about her. I wanted to offer you two hundred thousand dollars to assist with her costs."

Brian smiled warmly at his lovely wife, his heart full with love and appreciation. He softly caressed her face and murmured, "Julie, you're just amazing. Isn't that your life savings?" He asked, which she nodded her head to. "There's no need to worry about Mrs. Violet's expenses anymore. Someone has already paid for them, and she's responding to treatment."

"What??? That is fantastic. Do you know the person?" Julie asked.

"That's the odd thing. I don't know. But I'm happy." Brian answered.

Joy and relief filled Julie's face as she recognized the load that had been lifted from their shoulders. She cuddled closer to Brian, her heart flooded with bliss. "Oh, Brian, that's excellent news! I'm so thrilled she's getting better."

Julie turned to Brian with fatigue evident on her face. "Hey, I guess I'm going to sleep early tonight. I want to get up early tomorrow and get started on some things."

Brian, inquisitive, asked, "What's going on? Is everything okay?"

Julie groaned and responded, "It's about the family company. You know sales have been going down recently and it's generating a lot of concern. Grandma, wants us to go to work and discuss ideas on how to save the company from the loss."

Brian nodded in understanding. "I see it's a hard time for the company, isn't it?"

Julie said, "Yes, it is. Grandma thinks that if we put in additional work and come up with inventive ideas, we can turn things around."

Brian, with a hopeful smile in his eyes, disrupted Julie's plan. "Why don't you talk to Grandma and suggest forming an alliance with Elysian Enterprises?"

Julie glanced at Brian as though he had just said something totally insane. "Are you nuts, Brian? Elysian wouldn't even give our firm a second thought given how low our ranking is."

Brian leaned forward, his confidence unshakable. "I still believe it's worth a chance, Julie. We won't know unless we try, right?"

Julie giggled, her tone cheerful. "Brian, you're always full of surprises. But believe me, Elysian wouldn't even contemplate it. Good night love."

As Julie turned away, Brian just grinned and shook his head. His wife had no idea that he was the owner of Elysian Enterprises.

He laid there in bed, thinking about the intricacies of keeping his secret.
