Taryn
After almost three days of rest, Taryn and her men resumed the march fresh and relaxed. During their stay in the city, they had bought a small cart in which they had laid all the necessary food for the rest of the trip, in addition to a trunk in which was stored a beautiful dress that Taryn had managed to find thanks to a silk merchant.
The Queen had decided not to make any longer stops until they arrived in the capital, so she had sent Aiden to take care of the supplies, and at dawn, they had left.
Thanks to that stop, they could get lighter and more comfortable clothes for the trip.
Taryn had abandoned the idea of riding with clothes. She had opted for comfortable cloth trousers and a white tunic on which she had tied a large leather belt that protected the part that went from under the breast to the waist. She had decided not to wear the cloak anymore and had gathered her hair on the nape of her neck in a soft tail whose
The CommanderShe felt her knees shaking from the effort, she was out of breath, but she still tried to force herself to keep pushing him. In her mind, she could see the movement of the water. She was succeeding. She was getting closer and closer to Mihdel."You’re sweating blood," a voice said a voice, causing her to lose focus. The wire connecting her to the water broke, and she lost control of it to see Mihdel. She turned to the man while he looked at her laughing. Are you kidding me?His blond hair fell on his face in light waves, his eyes blue as the ocean sparkled, he could have sworn they were even brighter than usual.Even the commander’s gray eyes seemed to shine brighter in recent weeks. Maybe it was all the magic and power that was finally flowing through her body, or maybe it was just her impression."You arrived much ear
Nessa tried to move her nephew’s hand, while he kept her in the air. The woman’s face began to turn purple as she floundered for oxygen. The commander again crossed her arms to her chest as she enjoyed the macabre spectacle."Commander." A guard approached the man, trying to get his attention."Heafod,"said the guard again. The man released his grip on Nessa’s neck, who fell defenseless to the ground coughing while holding a hand on her throat, finally free from the grip. Her hair fell on her face while she was bent over the ground, her knees on the ground and the palm of her other hand tucked into the sand. The man commander looked down on her with contempt."I’m the only one standing between you and the blade your daughter wants to put in your neck, and that’s because I still need you for the moment," she said, chanting
Nathan The fortress was full of life, so far away from the peace and quiet of the night before. Nathan could hear the servitude’s fast steps out of his chambers. He was seated on the seat at the head of the table in the council room, his look lost in the void, while the fortress was animated by the first daylight.Master Nemet leaves a little before, after leaving him the letter which should be sent to Locrand, to king Kyros and his son, Athelstan.Nathan put it in front of him on the elaborate table. He didn’t touch it, didn’t look at it, he was thinking. The Neyers would have accepted by far that he himself went to court to bring the news or the body of their counselor himself. But Nathan couldn’t move or leave Sierra, not with his father like that. The masters visited him that morning, they say the king will not survive the week, maybe less. If the king died while traveling, the kingdom would fall into total chaos. If he wasn’t at cou
NathanDoreon looked at him doubtfully, not understanding what the prince was talking about.“Sumon and you” Nathan clarify.Doreon’s golden eyes darkened, and to Nathan, seems some regret, but the commander hide it.His friend didn’t answer, he keep quiet, his dark hair cascading on his forehead without saying a word.“I could hang both of you, I could hang you”.Doreon didn’t answer, his silence was frustrating and made him angry, while he was trying to keep calm “You betray me Doreon” Nathan growled “you betray the kingdom. You betray me” Doreon looked at him, his golden eyes were dark, a flash of suffering on his face at Nathan’s words. Words that hurt him more than anything.“It’s not like that,” he said.“It’s not?” Nathan asked, “You fucked my wife, Doreon. The future queen!”Nathan's voice became higher.“Since when?” he asked again, chanting every word.“A year,” Doreon answered, looking him straight in the eyes.“A year?” Nathan said shocked “For a year you two fucked behind
NathanNathan looked at his friend's face, trying to understand what he was saying. Doreon seems scared about it, then Nathan shook his head.“Magic doesn’t exist anymore, Doreon…less the Ucrie. The old men are respected as deities, that’s what terrified me, not stupid legend,” Nathan said after a moment of silence.“Don’t be a fool, you Highness” Doreon said “Nothing happen by chance. Remember the man’s death circumstances” the knight was backward, at moment, the armor tinkled “I will bring you fucking message” he said after standing up.Nathan took the letter and give it to him “You must not give it to anyone except the King or Athelstan. Bring with you a little escort, the journey must be short and fast.”“I know how these things work, Your Highness. I’m the one who takes care of the expeditions, do you remember?” Doreon replied in an almost contemptuous tone. There was a shadow of anger in his eyes.“I know,” Nathan sighed. “You must leave immediately, and you cannot see Sumon.”“
TarynThe sun was still high and warm in the sky, even though it was late afternoon. As they approached Althea, the days got longer and hotter. Taryn looked at the men around her. Many could not stand the heat so they had taken off the leather chain mail remaining with a simple tunic of which they had rolled up the sleeves up to the elbows leaving the skin exposed to the sun's rays. In a short time the skin had turned red and with the passing of the days it had darkened.Taryn now had red cheeks due to the strong sun, as well as the nose that was now beginning to lose the layer of dead and burned skin. She felt her whole face go on fire and did not dare to take off even a layer of clothes for fear of reddening everywhere.Lord Taront, on the other hand, looked impeccable in his leather suit, even though his forehead was sweaty, while Lord Grander did nothing but snort from his cart and wipe his forehead with a silk handker
TarynTaront's informant had placed them in one of the villas he owned within the city. The guards showed her the route to the richest part of the city, the one where huge buildings belonging to the wealthy merchants of Aeris stood. The inhabitants of the city did not suffer from hunger, there were several poor categories but, compared to the lifestyle of the other kingdoms, the inhabitants of Aeris were well-off. It is no coincidence that it was Mihedel's richest and most prosperous kingdom. The house was built entirely of stone and extended over two floors surrounded by climbing vegetation that had covered most of the external façade and had reached the second floor, even covering the marble of the balconies that overlooked the street from which they had come. The entrance had a large wooden door with engraved elaborate designs and colored with streaks of gold. The thick doors were wide open and waiting for
TarynOver the next few days, Taryn barely left her room. She had been locked in there reading old books they had gotten for her. Grander had advised her not to go out for a walk around the city or to do any other activity that included leaving that house, so she had limited herself to being alone on the balcony listening to the sounds of the capital, the sound of the wind and the waves crashing on the rocks. She didn't know how she could perceive all those sounds, recognize them indistinctly, but she could clearly hear the waves and the sea. One part of her wanted to see her up close, but the other part of her knew she had to sit still and wait.Waiting was the only thing she had left to do. The wait became more and more unbearable, but she had promised herself to hold on. At least for a while.Taront was out all day and almost all night since they arrived, she had only managed to see him in passing a few times, sh
