Chapter 35

Taryn

Over the next few days, Taryn barely left her room. She had been locked in there reading old books they had gotten for her. Grander had advised her not to go out for a walk around the city or to do any other activity that included leaving that house, so she had limited herself to being alone on the balcony listening to the sounds of the capital, the sound of the wind and the waves crashing on the rocks.

She didn't know how she could perceive all those sounds, recognize them indistinctly, but she could clearly hear the waves and the sea. One part of her wanted to see her up close, but the other part of her knew she had to sit still and wait.

Waiting was the only thing she had left to do. The wait became more and more unbearable, but she had promised herself to hold on. At least for a while.
