At Marçal Publishing, Bernardo is checking with Jack about the draft of the second book he intends to publish.

The publishing house owner reads with an interested smile, “Jack, it looks like this book is going to outsell the first one!”

“Will my work be adapted into a TV soap opera, like ‘A rose in the desert’?” Jack asks anxiously.

“Who knows... if LCN is interested, we won't object to copyright. Everything can be done by arrangement. The TV station representative who came here was a very good person.”

Bernardo holds out the draft and Jack takes it back, “Thank you very much, sir.”

“I thank you for making my company earn money. There was a time when I thought about closing down here and firing everybody. First, we had the biography of Josias Rocha as our salvation, then the books by Isabel Freire, and now your books. We will be forever grateful.”

Jack and Bernardo shake hands. Maggie enters next.

“Honey, my entire team was thrilled with my pregnancy— hello, Mr. Motta.”
