Hours later, it is Carmen's turn to appear on Main Street running desperately, with her hair disheveled, all sweaty, her face stamping with dread and panic. The patterned blouse was more torn than Pamela's that day. The neighbors are shocked, but no one could stop Carmen to ask what happened.

Upon entering her street, Carmen stops and leans against one of the lampposts. She takes a breath and right there starts to cry desperately. So this was what had happened to Pamela?

Carmen focuses on not tripping over any stone and walks cautiously to her house. As soon as she closes the door, she screams at the top of her lungs.

Mrs. Chaves emerges from the kitchen, behind her; it comes a pleasant odor of apple and cinnamon cookies.

"Honey, Pamela's not back yet. We're going to eat all the cookies and she'll be out of it."
