Wallace is returning from Pamela's house when he meets William, now in a soccer team uniform. The two are surprised.
"William, did you know that Pamela was shooed out of the house?" Wallace asks as if this is his fault.
"I think I must have heard of it," William speaks with uncertainty, which makes Wallace angrier.
"Gee, how can you do such a thing? You treat Pamela as if she is the worst thing in the world, so she revolts and does evil."
William smiles mockingly. "Not really, man. Bad things happen to everyone, the difference is how you react to them. Pamela could turn it around by being a good person, but she decided to be the other way around and is now reaping what she sowed."
"Yes, your future brother-in-law has successfully sowed a seed in her womb." Wallace hits William's weak spot.
William breaks his smile. He did not want to enter into a debate with Josias, he was so far avoiding confrontations, much to the delight of his dear siste
Josias crosses his arms and becomes frowning. Why did William soon believe this lie?"We will never get along, right, William? You will always hate me and you will never accept me as a brother-in-law. Okay, this is your decision. But, do you need to believe any slander they speak against me?"William gets up, distressed and desperate. "I'm not taking your feelings into consideration, but my dear sister's! Because if it's true that you cheated on her a second time, then she can't go on with you! I ran into Wallace earlier, and the idiot said he will continue dating Pamela.""Yes, that disgusts me too, but I didn't betray your sister even for the first time." Josias makes a point of stressing.William shakes his head. "You confirmed that you took Pamela to your filthy room, so there's no use denying it now.""William, does not it cross your mind that I could lie to you right now, saying that I am not the father of Pamela's baby when in fact I am?" Jo
Teodoro leaves the radio on in Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" song and retires to the kitchen to prepare dinner. While the lobby is empty, William enters, looking for the landlord. When realizing that he is far away, hearing only his whistle according to the song and the noise of the pots, William takes advantage and enters the corridor that gives access to the stairs. However, something inside him alarmed him. Was it worth the stairs? Wouldn't Teodoro have recommended a room on the first floor for Pamela?"When the pregnancy progresses, it will be worse for her to climb stairs." William reasons. Then he goes down the hall on the ground floor. The first door at sight was open. William looks inside and realizes that this is Teodoro's apartment. Then he goes through other doors. One was closed, William knocked on and gently asked if Pamela lived in the room.Upon reaching room six, the door is also closed. William is determined to knock on all the closed doors
On Tuesday, Uélton was in the office, waiting for Romualdo to arrive to formalize his work formal contract. Melissa appears in the secretary's outfit and the friend congratulates her."Wow, Melissa, I haven't seen you so well dressed yet. Congratulations.""Thank you, Uélton. As seen, you came to be registered, right? Every day someone comes by to have a formal contract. It is good to guarantee all labor rights."Melissa sits down and picks up a sheet to put in the typewriter."So early in the day and you already have letters to type?" Uélton is surprised."Nope, I'm supposed to train when a real letter arrives." Melissa winks at him.Uélton laughs. The door opens and Romualdo enters. "Good morning! Our newest registered employee is already here, good.""I am very anxious and my mother filled me with kisses." Uélton makes a joke. The two men go to Romualdo's office. Josias appears next, with a
"Did he give up being a deacon because of the slut?" Melissa asks with wide eyes."Melissa, look at the language," Romualdo asks like every boss."Yes, Melissa," Uélton replies with his head down, "he doesn't want to be a deacon anymore and probably won't even set foot in the Church anymore, because everyone is talking and gossiping about it. Wallace, for our doctrines, couldn't be involved with Pamela.""Imagine what the brethren of the Church are saying." Romualdo opines, "If Wallace insists on taking on the son, it is because the son is his. Soon, Wallace committed another offense: making love before the wedding. He could be expelled.""If I could just talk to him..." Melissa wishes."There's no way, Melissa." Josias speaks firmly, "At this point in the situation, the more people talk, the more Wallace wants to marry Pamela. I think everyone has already given their opinion, the choice now has to be his.""It looks like he already c
Wallace cornered Pamela asking if William was the father of her baby. Not that it was going to make Wallace break up, but he was going to stop believing that his father was Josias. However, Pamela was not sure about that and felt that Wallace could break up and leave her if she confirmed that the damn father was the brother of a girl that Wallace still felt some admiration for.So, she violently denies it. "No! The father is Josias, Wally, you have to believe me!""Look, when somebody says vehemently 'you have to believe me', it is because the person is lying." Wallace philosophizes."I'm not lying, it's William who's all confused." Pamela starts to cry.Wallace crosses his arms. "Sorry, Pamela, but for William to think he's the father, at least you and he have had a few nights of love. Am I wrong?"Too late, now Pamela will have to confirm before another lie makes things worse. "Yes, we did, but it was only once!""Enough for this ba
"For God's sake, Josias!" Romualdo screams, turning pale, "Say you greeted Everaldo Siqueira down there!"Josias drops his jaw, he is also livid. Everaldo was here! Everaldo again appears and evaporates without speaking to him! Why is he like that, so cruel?"Melissa, if you tell me you spoke to him..."Josias machine-gunned Melissa, he would be able to strangle her to death! He's the one who has to talk to Everaldo, not Melissa!Melissa fears Josias's violent reaction and runs for Romualdo's protection. She almost cries when she responds. "He said you can find him at Green Park Church!"Josias goes to his desk and takes his anger out, punching it with both fists clenched countless times. Melissa runs to the kitchen and closes the door. Romualdo goes to Josias and takes his arms."Hey, hey, hey, that's good! Enough, my comrade, you are not going to bring that nice guy by punching your desk!""Why does he do this to me? He did it on pu
Josias gets out of the van that has returned from the City Center and says goodbye to Melissa giving a kiss with his hand. She gesticulates smiling, pretending that she caught the kiss released by him. The van is on its way.Josias looks at the bar and decides to buy a bottle of soda. Upon entering, the bar has the radio playing "Sign of the Times" by Bob James. This song in Brazil became known as "The song of the drunk", and it fits perfectly in the atmosphere of the bar. However, the only one who did not follow the environment was Jeremiah. This time he was drinking socially, and alone. Seeing Josias going to the counter, he smiles and shakes his head.Josias was wearing a black dress shirt and brown dress pants, his shoes were well polished and he walked with an upright and dignified posture. Anyone who did not know him would say that he did not belong to the favela.Jeremiah could admit that Josias was indeed a correct boy, but Pamela's lies made him
Jeremiah goes to Pamela's room, somewhat disturbed by the drink, but he manages to walk satisfactorily and he finds room number six. Upon knocking, Pamela opens the door.Jeremiah finds Pamela wearing baggy cotton clothes, she was feeling cold beyond normal and her face was nauseous, indicating that she had just vomited.Jeremiah steps back from the decision to have sex with Pamela that same night after seeing the unsexy aspect of her. Pamela also purses her lips when she sees her future partner not entirely sober, the sour beer breath invades her nostrils. Did she also want to do anything with him tonight?Jeremiah sits on the old chair that creaks under his weight and Pamela sits on the bed."Tell me: do all the rooms in this joint follow the same pattern of furniture? It seems that Seu Teodoro doesn't give a damn about his tenants." Pamela begins."When I got to my room, I only had the chair," Jeremiah responds with contempt. That must be why he
