William is strolling through the Happiness Slum field. He reminisces about the time when he was still a teenager, playing and scoring goals.
He hears Ferreira's voice: "I'm glad to see you back."
William turns around and finds Ferreira approaching him, smiling. He smiles weakly, "Well, here I am wanting to take a little more risk."
Ferreira stops walking and comments, "You never should have stopped, Will. You could be on a First Division team, playing in Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo."
William scratches his head. "That's embarrassing..."
"Well, you don't live here anymore, thank goodness. If you still want to play soccer, I can introduce you to the coach of the Green Park team. In fact, it will be much easier for you to get exposure to a more relevant team."
William smiles, making a decision: "How about I stick around and make the Happiness Slum team the champions of Lagoon City?"
The idea greatly pleases Ferreira and he licks his lips.
Teodoro is about to have a heart attack with so many people pinning him to the wall because of Beto's libidinous conduct. Josias has no mercy and continues to question him."Until when will you tell me the truth?"Teodoro desperately replies, "What truth? All you care about is Beto going to jail for sexual abuse! When in fact these girls shamelessly throw themselves at him!"Josias shakes his head. "But, if that were the case, Beto should have the decency and the humility to refuse. But, it seems he enjoys having a different woman in his bed each day."Teodoro crosses his arms and his face turns red. "Josias, we've been through a lot together, let's not fight now over something that shouldn't even be your business! Isn't your wedding coming up?"Josias smiles devilishly, "Yes, and I want to know if I can keep the Reis family's invitation."Teodoro's face from red turns pale. "We won't be invited anymore because of this clowning around?"
Moacyr opens the door and is visited by Adrian. His son enters the house smiling and confident."Good evening, son! How's your work at the real estate office going?" The father asks jovially."I don't think I'll make it past the probationary period." Was the son's straightforward reply.Moacyr closes the door and approaches his son. "Don't even say things like that as a joke, son. You need to have something to support yourself with."Adrian sits down on the couch. "Yes, but if they go on to insist that I have to contact Silva Constructions..."Moacyr sits down on the other couch. "So that's the problem.""Mr. Gomes had the nerve to have me accompany Bruno to a sale, and along the way, the boy tried to convince me." Adrian complains indignantly, "Everything I've learned about closing a real estate sale has been erased from my mind, such was the anger I felt."Moacyr takes a deep breath. "Son, if you don't succeed in this company, it wo
At Josiah's house, Simeon appears quietly and sits down at the dining table. Dora begins to place the pans on the table."How was your day, honey?" she asks peacefully.Simeon, however, follows frowning, "Milton gave me a scolding. He thinks I should leave my kids free to do whatever they want, see if that's okay?"The pot of noodles is put on with a bang. Dora gets upset. "Would you prefer your children to behave eternally like children dependent on us?"Simeon chooses a dish and begins to serve himself. "No, I would like them to make their decisions based on common sense.""Common sense, in Will's case, was to stay in soccer. I always knew he would never be happy if he didn't do what he liked."Simeon does 'tsk' with his tongue. "He said he quit soccer because of his son. What happened? Isn't Caio more important to him?"At this moment William enters with Caio walking behind him."No, sonny, keep walking, your lap days are ov
At Josias's house, dinner is over, and now everyone is in the living room watching the news. Caio is on the carpet playing with his cars. When he shouts 'boom', Simeon gets angry."Caio, don't get in Grandpa's way of hearing the news!"Dora defends her grandson. "Oh, now you're going to take your anger out on your grandson who doesn't even really know what's going on?""I want to see how he'll react when you have to tell him." Simeon teases with the touchy subject.William begins to get irritated by his father's negativity, "And what are you going to tell my son?""That his father chose to chase a teenage dream instead of being a present and responsible father."Melissa is not up for an argument, "Stop you two! Dad, accept once and for all that Will's future is not in construction work."William explains half-heartedly, "Actually, I'm going to have to continue as a bricklayer while I play on the Happiness Slum team. The team is not pr
Beto dashes into the nightclub, searching like a lion for his little sister. He passes between the clubgoers, turning his head left and right, looking avidly to see if he can find Vera. The song "Caribean Queen" by Billy Ocean is pounding loudly in his eardrums."I wonder if she's already giving herself to some crazy guy in the bathrooms." He grunts. At the doors of the men's and women's bathrooms, there are indeed some couples making out each other. But Beto can't find his beloved sister. He feels a lump in his throat and his eyes become watery."She's gone... She's not here anymore!"*******************************************************Saturday. In Vera's apartment, the phone rings insistently. Vera appears in her nightgown, groggy with sleep and with her hand on her head. When she answers, she is not in a good mood. "Hello, who is this?"Teodoro answers bellowing from the other end, in his office, "Daughter! Thank God you are safe, sou
In the living room, Uélton and Harold are standing still while Isabel goes about fixing their butterfly tie. The men are in tuxedos while Isabel is in an elegant blue dress. A shawl of the same color is draping over her shoulders."There you go, son. Now let's fix your father's."Uélton jokes, "Mom, when I get married, will you fix my tie again?"Harold giggles. "I thought you had given up on marriage, son."Uélton continues jokingly, "I don't want to be a bachelor. Life is too bitter not to have a dear wife by my side.""Wise words, son." Isabel praises him. She finishes fixing her husband's tie, "There, husband. You look so handsome, I'm going to have to keep an eye out."Harold stares at Isabel all exuberant in her dress and smiles mischievously."You haven't looked at me like that since we were dating," Isabel comments with a slight smile.Harold replies gallantly, "And I've aged since then. But you, de
Moacyr is wearing a tie and a long-sleeved white social shirt. He opens the door for Adrian. Adrian is in his best black suit and tie. However, the best clothes do not give Adrian the best courage and determination. "Do you think I am doing the right thing in attending, Dad?"Moacyr pats his son on the shoulder, "Of course you do, sonny! I don't want you sitting alone in the corner of your house crying about what can't be remedied. Let's have some fun!"Adrian sits gloomily on the couch, "It's a strange place to cheer me up. A wedding."Moacyr sits down next to his son, he doesn't give up. "Adrian, it's usually at weddings that some people meet the love of their life. Imagine that could happen to you too!"Adrian looks schizophrenic, "What if I meet an interesting girl and start chatting with her, and in the middle of the conversation Romualdo or Tiago shows up and interrupts us and tells me to serve them snacks?"Moacyr snorts. This scratch
Vera is very anxious about the possibility of being caught by Wallace. Adrian begins to walk into the church and she follows him."Will you stay with us?" Adrian asks in amazement, expecting an affirmative answer. But the question makes Vera more nervous, "No, unfortunately. I'm staying with my family. They know the groom and I was invited."That was the excuse she made up in time, and it is in a way, a truth.Adrian smiles lightly. "Ah, at least a plausible explanation. Anyway, at least we'll talk to each other at the party.""We'll see, Adrian."The tone of her voice does not put Moacyr at ease. When she decides to move ahead and enter the church, he pulls Adrian by the arm."Son, I don't think she's comfortable introducing you to her family yet." He informs him, "After all, there's nothing very serious between you two, is there?"Adrian replies laconically, "No, Dad, we haven't gone to bed yet.""Well, I felt she was
