Chapter 615 Nobody Likes to Be Used

Adrian and Vera are almost finished with their shrimp risotto. So far they've only talked about Wallace's arrest and her misadventure.

"Vera, I'm so sorry you went through a humiliating situation." Adrian finally expresses condolences, "If we were a real couple, you would have another story."

Vera gulps down the wine she asked for and takes a deep breath. "Well, we never got a chance to talk about it. Adrian, understand that I needed to sleep with you to keep lying to my husband that he was my first man."

Adrian is red in the face with irritation. "But that's absurd, Vera! You still speak of the criminal with sweetness and respect. Can't you see that it was exactly what you did to me that made him turn into a monster? And I didn't like being used in a plan either."

"Oh, you mean only men can use women?" Vera asks without a sense of the absurd.

"No one should deceive anyone, that's the answer." Adrian asserts grimly, "I believed you were interested.
