Pamela shakes her head in disagreement with her mother. "No, Mom. If we tell Wallace the truth in prison, he'll freak out. Then when he gets out, he'll seek revenge anyway!"
"Until then you can count on police protection or move far away from here!" Cristina asserts.
"I don't want to move!" Pamela folds her arms, "I like living here. Lagoon City is growing, we're going to have a College around Saint Gabriel. We have an Upper-Class neighborhood on the beachfront. And I don't want to live hiding from Wallace."
"Well then, let's hope Wallace is fully recovered to say. I only know one thing, darling: one day the truth will come out."
Pamela is annoyed.

Josias is now in Happiness Slum watching the demolition of Seu Teodoro's building. Workers lay numerous debris and pieces of pipe in the street.
The foreman addresses him, "Boss, look what a terrible plumbing the late Teodoro Reis used!" He displays a piece of pipe all cracked and muddy
The next day, Vera is getting ready to leave for work, already wearing her supermarket uniform. The radio broadcasts the song "You Keep Me Hanging On" by Kim Wilde, and she is moving as she tries to put lipstick on her lips.Someone knocks on the door and she goes to open it. Thinking it's Officer Prates, she opens it without asking. To her surprise, it's Josias."What the hell are you doing here?!" She screams at the top of her lungs.Josias maintains a roguish smile, "Will you let me in? Who were you waiting for?""I thought it was Officer Prates!""The one who was watching for you? Why would he still be here?"Curious to know what Josias wants, Vera lets him in, "Until the day of judgment he was here. You never know. Now that Wally is in the penitentiary, he doesn't get away so easily."Josias shakes his head, "Do you still call the abuser by his nickname?"Vera turns to him automatically, "Don't talk bad about him! He's my
Carmen is at her desk sorting the mail. When she visualizes the letters for Tiago, she feels like throwing everything in the trash.Tiago's arrival makes her retreat. She picks up the mail and holds out her hand to him, frowning."Good morning, pretty secretary!""Your letters, sir!"Tiago picks up the cards with a chuckle, "Even with this frown, I can't be mad.""I'm the one who has the right to be angry, after hearing insults toward my sister. Don't the people here forgive or forget?"Tiago leans at her desk, "We might as well forget, but forgive... this is in the hands of those who were directly offended by Pamela.""Would it do any good to say that Pam is very distressed about Wallace's fate?" Carmen grumbles."Well, it would work for me. But who were the ones directly affected?"Carmen gets up and approaches him, "It certainly was the Freire family. A son who was preparing to be a deacon of the Church fell in love w
Josias needs all the patience in the world to reason with Wallace. The jailer is standing at the door, curious about the conversation."Wallace, let's get one thing straight," Josias begins, "Pamela and Vera may have turned your life into hell, but you also contributed to the flames not going out. Or else, I must conclude you were pretty dumb to allow yourself to be deceived by two women!"Wallace clenches both fists and slugs the table, "How dare you talk to me like that?"Josias isn't intimidated, "I speak in whatever way I see fit! In Vera's case, I might even give you a discount, because you were plotting against her too. But in Pamela's case, not at all! You were a complete asshole in it! You put aside everything you believed to be with her.""What's the use of telling me these things now?""Let's talk until you admit it was crazy to throw away all your baggage, all your biblical knowledge, everything your parents taught you, and go aft
Elisa visits Melissa alone this time. In the living room, the song "Bad Boy" by Gloria Estefan makes Flávia dust off the furniture to the rhythm of the song.Elisa purses her lips at the sight of the maid and asks, "Honey, can we talk alone?""Let's go to the master suite." Melissa decides.Flávia holds back the laugh and has her back to the two of them. Elisa thought Melissa was going to tell Flávia to turn off the radio and leave, but that's not what happened. In the master suite, the two ladies sit on the bed."I hope Josias doesn't get upset that I'm here." Elisa insinuates this for them to return to the living room."No, he's busy with a lot of things." Melissa answers without noticing."Well, that's what I came to tell you about." Elisa takes a deep breath, "Tiago called me. He asked me to let you know that Romualdo Silva is demanding more concentration from Josias."Melissa stands up abruptly and sta
The next day, Harold and Uélton are saying goodbye to Isabel to work. They each kiss one of her cheeks."Bye, baby!" Harold says, "May you have a quiet day."Ironically, the phone rings. Uélton attends him."Residence of the Freires?""Uélton, stop clowning around!" It's Cristina, "Can I talk to your mother?""You can; now let's see if she can."Isabel bursts out laughing, "Who is it, son?""It's Ms. Chaves. I didn't know you girls have been so close.""I'm glad you focus on your work, son." Harold jokes, "That way you don't know a lot of things!""Ah, you boring..." Uélton pretends to be angry.Isabel picks up the phone hook and answers, "Hi, Cristina.""Dear friend, I have some news! Josias is helping us to get rid of Vera Reis! As you are a direct family, you should know."Isabel widens her eyes, "But how did you know that?""My son-in-law asked Josias for help a
In the penthouse, the radio is playing the song "In Between Days" by The Cure. Flavia is turning down the volume so Melissa can speak properly."Is he too busy?" Melissa asks Ernesto.Ernesto replies, "I'll check it out." He whispers to Josias, "It's your wife."Josias promptly answers the phone, "Hello, honey! What's wrong?""I don't exactly know if it's a problem." Melissa replies quizzically, "The doorman is saying that Pamela Reis is downstairs awaiting authorization."Josias is also in doubt. It's been a long time since he and Melissa have had any reason to hate Pamela. But does that mean they should let her back into their lives?"Honey, she's probably there to say thanks for the help we've given Roberto and Wallace. Remember last year she was on her knees wanting to apologize?""I remember. It looks like she wants to keep her promise.""Let her in. Flavia is there, correct?""Correct. I'll tell you what happened l
Josias is drumming the fingers of his right hand on the desk as he tries to read the reports given by the people in charge of the existing works. Ernesto notices the boss's nervousness."Sir, can I help you with something?""I'm wondering if when I get back home, I'll find my wife still alive."Ernesto smiles in understanding, "I think Mr. Reis should have this concern."The joke makes Josias relax.***At the warehouse, Roberto receives a visit from the lawyer appointed by Igor. He is a gentleman in his forties, wearing glasses and a slightly shabby suit. "Mister Roberto Reis?""It's me. Are you the lawyer sent by Igor Bento?""Claudio Soares, at your service. Where can we talk properly?""In my office," Beto responds and then laughs, feeling amused that he has an office, "I always wanted to say that."The two gentlemen go to the local.***Pamela starts telling Melissa what she's here for."
Melissa is uncomfortable when Pamela asks if everything is okay between them.Pamela gives a slight smile, "I think I forced the situation.""Pamela, don't get me wrong." Melissa tries to justify herself, "But the truth is, I was getting used to not having you around. Of course, I don't hate you anymore. Josias told me that last year you wanted to ask for forgiveness on your knees. That's not necessary.""What do you mean?""We somehow forgive you. We no longer hold grudges. We even learned that the Freire family is on good terms with your parents.""Yes, I'm happy, fewer people to hate.""But then, to think we'll be friends again... I don't know."Pamela decides to end Melissa's annoyance. She stands up, "I understand perfectly, Melissa. We've said and done a lot of horrible things to each other. Forgiving is difficult, perhaps impossible. However, I ask that we at least treat each other with civility.""Oh, that's for sure!"
