CHAPTER 5

SYSTEMS FROM TIME IMMEMORIAL

Allen asked the question with regard to what he had been thinking of; he wanted to know why the system had just chosen him to be the holder of the power.

System: You were given the power because you were the sole owner of it.

The power of the system has been embedded in the system for about three hundred years now and was in a necklace. We only needed someone to activate it.

The necklace was with you, and it activated.

That day, the activation was done, it was your blood that was on the necklace that activated the system.

Allen heard the system say.

He was quite shocked, and with his hand, he touched the necklace on his neck.

Allen was surprised to the core.

So it only meant he was still walking because of the necklace.

Allen heaved a sigh.

The necklace was given to him by his late grandmother.

The necklace was actually meant for his mother, but because her mother at that time was busy on the streets, getting herself messed up on drugs.

Allen was the only one close to his grandmother at that time, and that was the reason why his grandmother handed it over to him.

Allen had received the necklace from his grandmother without much appreciation, knowing that the necklace was worthless, however, because of his grandmother’s last words, he always placed it around his neck.

Allen touched the necklace around his neck and looked at it.

He was really surprised that such a “worthless” necklace contained such power.

Allen realized that the necklace was his power. That could only mean that if he took the necklace from around his neck, the system was going to be deactivated for him.

Allen realized where his power was coming from, and for a moment, something occurred to him.’

If the system was activated and he did not want to go through that mission, he could take the necklace off him, and he would not have to go through any punishment.

Before he could say that out loud, the system came in again.

SYSTEM: The system is always activated when there are missions that are within your power.

When the system is activated, the necklace cannot be taken off your neck, and you cannot abort the mission by yourself.

The system is capable of relieving you of all your pain when the mission starts, which is why you do not feel any pain when you are hit during a mission. You will recover when the mission is completed.

The system was explained.

Allen now understood the system better.

He crossed the road and headed for the pharmacy. As he was about to enter the pharmacy, he noticed three boys standing a few meters away from the end of the pharmacy, but he ignored them and walked into the pharmacy.

Allen showed the prescription to the pharmacist and was soon given the drugs. He paid for it and thanked the pharmacist.

As soon as he turned around to leave, the system beeped.

System; mission found.

In two minutes, three thugs will attack the pharmacist. Trash the thugs and humiliate them.

Mission reward: ten thousand dollars.

Allen heard the system say.

He realized that the men were definitely the ones who were going to come.

Figuring out that he was done with his business there, he had no reason to stay in the pharmacy for the next two minutes.

“Excuse me, do you have a washroom here I can use?” Allen asked the pharmacist.

“Well yes, please take the door on your right here." The pharmacist said that and pointed in the direction of the door.

The door was behind the counter and was not visible from the front.

Allen dropped his drugs on the counter and entered the washroom.

He heaved a sigh and waited for a while, waiting to hear the sound of the robbers in the pharmacy.

Allen looked at the bandage on his shoulder. It was as though he was no longer in pain, as he could not feel the pain.

Allen wondered for how long he was going to be using this system.

He waited calmly and patiently until he heard a commotion in the pharmacy.

“Get me all the money in the cash register now!” Allen heard the scream from the inside of the pharmacy.

He knew the robbers were in, and he was supposed to go in at that moment.

Allen breathed in heavily.

He slowly opened the door and peered to see what was going on in there.

He realized that all three men had knives, and none of them held a gun.

Allen flung the door open and walked out.

The way he flung the door caused panic among the robbers.

One of them turned to him with the knife.

“Stop there and don't make a sound." One of the robbers said this, and he pointed the knife at him.

Allen did not stop, he kept walking slowly towards the man.

“I said stop now!” The man ordered.

Allen did not mind and kept walking towards him.

He took a quick glance at all the men.

One of them was watching the gate for anyone coming in.

The second was standing with the pharmacist, asking him to take out all of the money at the cash register and hand it over to him.

Then, the third was standing right in front of him with the knife, threatening him to stop moving.

Allen thought of what he could do to save the situation.

If he fought with the men in front of him, it was only going to escalate the situation, as the pharmacist was going to be taken hostage.

If he stopped walking as he had been ordered, he was going to be a bit late in his movement, and that was also not good for him at that moment.

He thought of what to do as he walked slowly to the man who was still threatening him to stop at that moment.

“I said, Stop now before I slit a knife in your throat." The man threatened Allen once again with the knife in his hand.
