* CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN

TOWER OF IVÁDIA

VARIA'S POV

I'm lying on my bed, in my room reading. My window is open, and the moonlight is shining upon the castle roof. It also sneaks into my room through the open window.

The book I'm reading is a spell book. I just turned open this page and I haven't read much out of it. I'm sleepy, but the knock on my door widens my eyes, and I sit up —my legs still in my bed, and folded.

“Come in Althea!” I say to her and she chuckles as she opens the door and walk in.

“How do you do that? I still find it amazing, even as I have known you from when you were a lot younger,” she says, baffled.

“It is a gift. I know everyone by their breath, and I can't mistake one's breathe for another,” I say to her and she smiles.

“How is sister Nika?” I ask as she sits on my bed.

“She’s fine, I believe,” she replies and I nod.

“You haven't had any sleep, have you?” She asks and I shake my head. “No, I haven't.” I reply.

“Why, what have you been up to?” She asks.
