Alfred was reading newspapers when Magdalene walked in. She was holding an envelope. She had gone to the hospital in the morning. Before she went to the hospital, she had prepared breakfast and tidied up the clutter. Alfred was so engrossed in the newspapers that he never knew Magdalene was standing right in front of him. Magdalene tapped Alfred gently on the back. It was then that Alfred realized that Magdalene was standing close to him.

“Darling, you are back.” Alfred dropped the newspapers on the floor. He watched Magdalene as she sat down beside him.

“When will you stop reading newspapers? You couldn’t even notice my presence. That is how a burglary will occur in your very eyes and you wouldn’t know, all because you are reading a newspaper.” Magdalene frowned.
