24 Hours Before Nathan and Luna are rescued

The warehouse was chilly, filled with the strong smell of mold and hopelessness. Nathan was seated on the hard concrete ground, his wrists stinging from the tight ropes wrapped around them. Luna was seated close by, with her eyes shut, her expression displaying fatigue.

The room was filled with harsh fluorescent light as the door opened and creaked. Two strong men walked into the room with emotionless expressions on their faces. One of them directed their finger towards Nathan.

"You! Get up" one of the men said sharply.

Nathan pushed himself up, feeling his legs numb after hours of sitting still. The men forcefully seized him, pulling him out of the building and into a van that was ready and waiting. During the journey, there was no talking, just the quiet hum of the engine and the occasional jolt from the bumpy road.

The van came to a stop after what seemed like forever. Nathan was taken out and led inside a building that felt familiar.

Back to the Present Time At the east side of the city, Enzo and his men stormed into the warehouse where Luna and Nathan were being kept. Their weapons are drawn and their eyes sharp. This was happening simultaneously with the money exchange between Vincenzo, Marco, and Raul."Cover me!" Enzo shouted, ducking behind a stack of wooden crates. His men spread out, returning fire with precision. One of his men crouched beside him and nodded. "We've got to move fast, sir. Mrs. Luna and Nathan are in the back room."Enzo reloaded his pistol, his face set in determination. "Let's go!"They progressed systematically, eliminating the guards blocking their path. Enzo was familiar with the layout of the warehouse despite its maze-like narrow corridors and shadowy corners. He had devoted hours to studying it, carefully planning every aspect of the rescue. "Sir, on your left!" One of Enzo's men warned him, firing at a guard who had emerged from a side door.Enzo spun, his shot finding its mark.

In the living room, they settled onto the sofas and chairs, the exhaustion beginning to show. Rain brought out blankets, wrapping them around Luna and Nathan, who was visibly shivering, not from the cold but from the adrenaline wearing off."Enzo," Luna began, her voice soft but steady, "how did you find us?"Enzo sat beside her, his arm around her shoulders. "We had a lead on the warehouse. We knew Raul was behind this, and we tracked his movements. It was a team effort but it was my stay thanks to Rain."Nathan leaned forward, his hands clasped together. "Raul... He used us. He never intended to rescue us. He just wanted to use you as a pawn against you guys." Nathan kept Kim's name out of the conversation. He was still following Kim’s order to get close to the Grffo family at all costs.Enzo's jaw tightened. "We figured as much. Raul’s been playing a dangerous game, and now we know just how far he's willing to go."Rain, sitting next to Luna, looked at Nathan with concern. "What d

The Griffo mansion's large living room was filled with the family, the air still heavy with tension after the recent events. Vincenzo was seated in an armchair, his face lit up by the cozy fireplace's warm radiance. Luna, Nathan, Rain, Enzo, and Marco surrounded him with expressions reflecting a blend of curiosity and worry. They knew they had to discuss the next move against the Mexican gang.Luna stared at him closely. "Vincenzo, who exactly is Raul?" Vincenzo inhaled deeply. Raul didn't start as a criminal mastermind. Raul Alvarez, I believe his name was. He was born in a small Mexican town. His family lived in a small, dilapidated house due to their lack of wealth. His father was employed as a laborer, earning just enough income to provide food for the family. Raul was left responsible for his younger siblings after his mother passed away in his youth. Enzo frowned. "So, he had a tough childhood. But that doesn’t explain why he became who he is."Vincenzo gave a nod. "Correct."

The elegant dining room was filled with the sound of silverware clinking. Rain was seated across from Vincenzo at the extended, shiny table, with their breakfast laid out in front of them. The noticeable silence between them was dense, packed with words left unsaid and tension that lingered. "Hand me the salt," Vincenzo requested without lifting his eyes from his plate. Rain handed him the salt shaker, her eyes lingering on him. “You’re always so serious.”Vincenzo glanced at her, an eyebrow raised. “It’s necessary.”“Necessary?” Rain scoffed. “Doesn’t it get exhausting?”He shrugged, sprinkling salt on his eggs. “It’s part of the job.”Rain sighed, pushing her food around her plate. “I can’t imagine living like that.”Vincenzo’s gaze softened slightly. “You get used to it.”“Do you?” Rain challenged. “Or do you just tell yourself that?”He set down his fork, looking at her intently. “What do you want to know, Rain?”She hesitated, then met his eyes. “Why do you do it? The violence,

Rain was restless as she couldn’t sleep. The mansion was extremely quiet in a way that only increased her unease. Deciding to stand and take a stroll, she let out a sigh “Perhaps drinking a cup of tea would help me sleep.” She said to herself. She got out of bed, put on a robe, and quietly walked down the hallway. Upon entering the kitchen, she could hear a soft tune playing. Intrigued by her curiosity, Rain pursued the noise, walking carefully with light steps. The sound of music increased in volume as she approached the music room. Beethoven's "Für Elise" could be heard echoing in the corridor, a tune that was quite familiar. Stopping at the entrance, she held her breath in surprise. Vincenzo sat at the piano, his fingers moving gracefully across the keys. He played the same song at the ball on September 10, the evening he was shot. Rain stood by the doorframe, observing him. In this moment, he appeared quite distinct—vulnerable, almost peaceful. A feeling of both admiration and s

The morning sunlight beamed in through the curtains of the window. It woke Rain up from her slumber. She felt the warmth coming from Vincenzo's body, which was next to her. His arm wrapped around her giving her protection. She Looked up at Vincenzo, and she saw his calm expression, his face appearing gentler when he was sleeping. She blushed even though she knew how dangerous it was to have intercourse with Vincenzo, who she was supposed to sell out to Randy and Bobby soon. However, she still had no regrets about last night because she was satisfied by the intense intercourse. But then she realized the situation she was in, she had just slept with Vincenzo, unprotected. This made her heart beat quickly. She carefully moved out from underneath his arm and went straight into the bathroom. She glanced back at him one more time before rushing into the bathroom, her mind racing with what to do next. She splashed water on her face, trying to calm herself."Okay, Rain. Think," she murmured

Luna and Rain stood by the front entrance, waiting for the car to be brought around. Luna was practically bouncing with excitement. “This is going to be great. We’ll get some new clothes, maybe have lunch somewhere nice.”Rain smiled, feeling a sense of freedom she hadn’t felt in a long time. “I can’t wait. Thank you for suggesting this, Luna.”Luna waved her hand dismissively. “Of course! We needed some girl time.”The driver stopped the car and then opened the door for them. Luna and Rain giggled like schoolgirls as they climbed into the vehicle. The upscale shopping district was where the car left them off. Luna and Rain walked arm in arm along the sidewalk, pausing at different boutiques. Luna pulled Rain into a high-end store. “Let’s start here. I’ve heard they have the most amazing dresses.”Rain looked around, awed by the beautiful clothes on display. “Everything is so gorgeous.”Luna picked out a few dresses and handed them to Rain. “Try these on. "Don't you know the meeting started downstairs? What are you still doing here?"Marco’s face darkened, but he quickly regained composure. Luckily for him, Luna did not notice what he was trying to do. "Yes. I lost track of time, I was just here to get Rain, Vincenzo was asking for her downstairs,” he said, hoping that Luna believed his lie. “I’m going downstairs now. You guys should join us soon."He went past Luna and left the room, closing the door behind him.Rain let out a shaky breath.
