Bud stammered, waving his hands quickly.

“No, no, hehe, I can’t really afford to eat there either, but since Jon said he wanted to treat, I just went along with it. He said he really wanted to eat there but didn’t have anyone to go with, so, heh, I guess I’m lucky,” the man said as he pulled out a handkerchief to wipe his sweaty forehead and face.

The air in the meeting room was already quite cool, but the young man still felt hot. He was sweating.

“Did Jon ever mention that he has a serious rare disease?” Dakota asked.

Hearing this, Bud shrugged his shoulders and nodded slowly.

“Yeah, he mentioned it once in a while. He said if he doesn’t get a plasma transfusion once a week, he could die from blood loss. I thought it was just a regular joke; I mean, how could someone like him—tall, big, athletic, and muscular—have such a strange illness?”
