The atmosphere inside the restaurant flipped all of a sudden as the henchmen scattered throughout the restaurant and approached the other guests, asking them to leave. Most of the guests had already sensed that the situation was heading towards disaster, and left their seats long ago. And as for the other ones, they didn't need much convincing to flee, especially after seeing the gruff body language of these thugs.Meanwhile, thoughts were swirling through Jack's mind like a storm, but he couldn't reveal his true emotions in front of everyone. The thugs were undoubtedly called to harass him, but he could see that they were trying to rattle his nerves by making him wait. The irony of the situation wasn't lost on him at all – was this the man his wife of eight years had betrayed him for? He couldn't help but wonder why his ex-wife would give an undeserving and disloyal man like him, a watch worth $700,000!A mocking smile settled on his lips as he thought about how absurd all this was.
With calculated precision, Jack walked two steps before aiming a pistol at the ground and fired two shots with his aim on the first attacker, who was now writhing on the floor in pain.BANG! BANG!The sharp notes of the gunfire echoed through the room, as the two bullets found their mark– in his heart and head respectively. The confrontation finally reached its brutal climax. The lifeless form of one attacker was lying on the ground, while the painful struggles of the other thug also finally ended, leaving a heavy silence in the restaurant. But Jack remained vigilant, and his gaze darted towards the car which the attackers had probably arrived in, as that was the only vehicle left in the parking lot now. He moved with extreme caution before opening all the doors and checking if there was someone else hiding inside. The vehicle turned out to be completely empty, and Jack finally relaxed a little. He knew he couldn't stay in the Alpengarde for any longer; he would be in trouble if the
Every parent's deepest desire is to cradle their children and keep them wrapped up in their bubble of innocence, sheltering them from the harsh realities of the world… for as long as they can. But sometimes, in this unpredictable journey of life, the parents are faced with a harsh choice. And then, the most important thing is to expose them to the truth, no matter how harsh or disturbing it may be, or how it might make them more mature than their age. Because only by exposing them to the truth, can the parent then teach the children how to keep themselves safe. All these thoughts were running through Jack's mind as he decided to confess everything in front of his daughter. "Sweetheart, the thing is, your mom's boyfriend, Robert… he isn't a good man. He is actually a drug dealer.""What does it mean, daddy?""It means that he has hurt some people for money, and now, the police are looking for him. But there is no reason to be afraid, okay? Daddy is here to get you both out of danger
The threat of the imminent arrival of police officers cast a shadow over the assassin's face, showing that his resolve had started to crumble. "I am warning you for the last time, don't try any tricks with me… or I won't hesitate to roast you alive!"Jack smirked on hearing the assassin's words; by now, he had realized that his words were nothing more than empty threats. But he stopped himself from making any remarks yet. At this moment, the assassin's best option seemed to be to look for a makeshift solution in the form of a rope, which he could use to restrain Jack before he tried to do something funny. But it was evident from his jittery demeanor that his nerves were too frayed. With his gun trained firmly on Jack, he scanned the surroundings, his movements betraying a sense of urgency. All the time while he was scanning the apartment, the assassin was also keeping an eye on Jack, who was also waiting for the right moment to react. With his senses heightened, he observed the assa
Jack flattened his foot on the accelerator, trying to get as far away from the River Valley Apartments as he possibly could. He was now in a race against time to secure his family's safety, as the threat of the drug dealer's goons was never going to leave him alone. He knew that the only way to permanently protect his daughters from the imminent danger was to eliminate the source of the threat – Robert Wendell. However, before he started out to accomplish this dangerous mission, he needed to relocate his family to a secure place, to shield them at least temporarily. At that moment, the only option that came to his mind was the safe houses he had built and set up in different locations of the city, back when he was the leader of the scavenger organization. He sped through the city streets, looking for the nearest safe house as the memory of its location was etched in his mind– and at this point, that would be no less than a lifeline to provide sanctuary for his daughters. But as
"What are you doing here?!"Jack's words echoed in the living room, causing two sets of eyes to focus on him. But it was Helen, Jack's mother, who broke her silence first. Her gaze showed her concern as she spoke with a gentle tone;"Oh, Jack, you're back honey? We were just waiting for you. But why don't you go and put the girls to sleep in my room, first?"She added while looking at Jack's daughters, the younger one was asleep in his arms while the older one was groggily rubbing her eyes in confusion.Jack found himself at a loss for words, but still complied with her instructions. Although he was flooded with relief on seeing that his mother was safe and sound, after thinking that he had lost her forever in that explosion— there was also a lingering feeling of shock on seeing her with that girl… Megan. His old subordinate, from when he was active within the Scavenger Organization. What was she doing here, out of the blue? And with his mother, of all people?Trying to dismiss the
Jack thoroughly recognized the weight behind Megan's words, and expressed his gratitude after a few minutes of silence. "Thank you, Megan. I really owe you one, and I promise to return the favor after we resolve the current crisis with the Scavengers." Megan simply smiled as she shook her head, and replied;"You don't owe me anything, Master. In fact, your return has caused many of our supporters to come out of their folds, and sent a new wave of enthusiasm through our active recruits." There was a glimmer of excitement in her eyes as she gushed;"Actually, when you logged in, most of the major organizations withdrew their siege within minutes! According to our reports, numerous operations were called off. And not only this, but some organizations have even sent gifts to the headquarters, to celebrate the return of the Scavengers."The news provided a momentary relief, even though Jack hadn't expected that even after so many years, he would still have this kind of an influence on t
