Ch-29 : Trust?

Jack's POV:

As I saw my little girl teeter on the edge of her high chair, my heart skipped a beat. The potential danger felt like a ton of rocks pressing on my chest, threatening to crush me.

In that split second, an unknown fear gripped my heart in its claws, and I lunged forward, arms outstretched, desperate to catch her before she hit the ground.

The relief that washed over me when I felt her small body in my arms was overwhelming. But the poor child was probably terrified, and she began to shriek loudly.

However, I tried my best to calm her down, and she slowly began to feel more comfortable as I cooed and reassured her.

Holding her close to myself, I looked at her small face which had become red, feeling grateful that my instinctive reaction had saved her.

Only when she had almost fallen asleep, did my gaze shift towards the young woman sitting on the couch, looking at Dottie as if she was even more shocked than the toddler herself!
